Chapter 55: Chapter 55
Alex Heartman
Alex had a unique sense of smell. It was something that had always set him apart from everyone in his pack and family. He could pick up scents that others couldn't, and he could recognize them with incredible accuracy.
So when he caught the scent of blood in the breeze, he knew immediately that the kidnappers hadn't gone far. And when he recognized the scent as his mother's, he knew he had to act fast.
He tried to mind-link her just to be sure she was safe but he couldn't get through to her. It was like she was blocked off, her thoughts and emotions were shielded from him.
His heart began to race and thoughts ran through his mind.
Alex rushed in the direction of the scent, hoping that she was okay. He ran through the forest, dodging trees and leaping over rocks.
The moment he charged towards that direction his pack warriors knew he had gotten something and ran too, trailing behind him but Alex was very fast and dogged everything before him easily, they were having a hard time catching up with him.
Finally, he burst into a clearing bigger than the one with little sharp rocks, which they had seen before and from a distance, he sighted four men surrounding his mother, who was lying weakly on the floor.
They were looking angry and alert as they hid behind a bush.
Alex tried to access Natalie from a distance to check if she was ok and know where she was hurt that had blood gushing out. But he couldn't see her clearly because the plants and leaves where hiding path of her body from him.
"Come out now," Alex said, standing in front of the bush they were hiding behind. "I know you can see me."
The kidnappers came out of the bush, but the fat one who was holding his mother stayed behind and held her neck, which made Alex boil with anger.
They were maltreating and mishandling his mother and he vowed within himself to make everyone of them pay for that.
Alex's first instinct was to charge in, to fight them off and rescue his mother. But he knew he had to be careful. They were kidnappers, and he didn't know what their mission was or who they were, neither did he know who sent them.
If he allowed himself to get into a fight, he would not get his answers, he could put himself and everyone here in danger.
Just then, he noticed his pack warriors were not with him. They hadn't made it to him yet.
He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. "Who are you and who sent you?"
They growled at him.
He needed to come up with a plan.
Before he could begin to formulate a strategy on how to get his mother from them, three men from the four kidnappers transformed into wolves; their bodies grew massive and muscular. They bared their teeth and snarled, ready to fight.
He charged forward, shifting into his wolf form. He let out a fierce howl that echoed through the forest, warning the men that they had messed with the wrong family.
Alex's blood boiled with rage. He had no idea who those men were or what they wanted, but he knew one thing for sure; they were going to pay for hurting his mother and father.
Alex didn't hesitate. He launched himself at the nearest wolf, sinking his teeth into its shoulder. He felt his bones cracking beneath his jaw, and the wolf howled in pain.
The other two wolves lunged at him, but he was too quick for them. He dodged and weaved, using his speed and agility to stay one step ahead.
But while he was distracted by the wolves, the fourth man had grabbed his mother and was running away with her.
His mother kicked her legs in the air, trying to free herself from his hold but he was bigger in size. He ran deep into the forest.
Alex's heart sank. He had been so focused on the fight that he had forgotten about his primary objective.
He turned to run after them, but the wolves blocked his path. They were fierce and determined, and they weren't going to let him through.
Alex knew he had to fight. He wasn't going to let these men hurt his family and get away with it.
Alex fought with all his might, using his teeth and claws to tear into the wolves. But they outnumbered him.
He felt their teeth sinking into his flesh, he felt their claws raking across his skin. Alex groaned, refusing to let the pain slow him down. He was on a mission, and nothing was going to stop him.
The fight was brutal, but finally, after what felt like hours, he emerged victorious. The last of the wolves laif dead at his feet, his body was battered and broken.
By the time Alex was done, the fourth man had disappeared with his mother. Alex cursed himself for letting his guard down, he should have been paying more attention
He knew he had to find her fast before the horrible kidnapper would do something dangerous to her, she was already too weak to move around herself.
He closed his eyes and focused his mind on the environment and tried to mindlink her again but it was of no use, he still couldn't reach her.
