Chapter 51: Chapter 51

Mia Heartman

Mia had been sitting in her room, staring blankly at the wall when she heard the uproar. It was loud enough to penetrate the thick walls and draw her attention. She had been staying in the pack house and she had grown accustomed to the peaceful surroundings.

But something had clearly upset the tranquility of the place, and she was curious to find out what it was.

She got up from her chair, and walked to the door. Pulling open her door and taking a peek, she saw nothing unusual outside. She went back to her room trying to figure out where the noise came from and what could have made such a freightening noise in the pack. Why were the guards not bothered to check what was happening?

She was still thinking when she heard another loud shatter.

Her heart skipped a beat as she realized that something terrible was happening.

She stepped out of her room and saw a guard running past her. She grabbed his arm and asked him what was going on. The guard, out of breath, told her that Alex had gone berserk and was breaking everything in sight. Mia felt a lump form in her throat.

She thanked the guard and hurried toward Alex's room. The closer she got, the more she picked up the sounds of glasses and furnitures being broken. It was clear that Alex was still in the throes of his rage.

She cautiously made her way through the rooms, trying to avoid any flying debris. Her heart was racing, and her hands were shaking. She didn't know what to expect when she got there.

When she reached the door, she hesitated for a moment. She could still hear Alex smashing things inside. She took a deep breath and pushed the door open. What she saw made her gasp and freeze in her tracks. Alex was in the middle of the room, surrounded by broken glass and furniture. He was screaming and thrashing about, and his face was contorted in rage. He looked like a completely different person.

His face was twisted in anger, his eyes wild with fury. He didn't even seem to notice Mia's presence.

Mia felt a surge of fear rise up inside her. Her first instinct was to run away, she had never seen Alex like that before, but she knew that she couldn't leave him alone and out of control. She stepped forward slowly, calling his name, but he didn't respond.

She took a deep breath and approached him slowly, her hands outstretched.

"Alex. Please, stop," she said softly. "It's me, Mia. Please, calm down."

Alex didn't seem to hear her. He continued to smash and destroy everything around him. His anger grew with each passing moment. Mia's stomach twisted with dread, but she refused to back down. She inched closer to him, sucking in a sharp breath.

"Alex, please stop," she whispered, her voice shaking. "It's me, Mia. You're not alone."

Without thinking, she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him from behind, hugging him tightly. She could feel his body tense up, but she held on, calling his name over and over again.

"Alex, it's okay," she whispered. "I'm here for you. Please, calm down."

She rested her head on his back, and somehow, she could hear his heart pounding violently in his chest.

"Lex," she cooed, planting a soft kiss on his back from over his black shirt. "I'm here for you, I'm here to stay."

At first, he resisted her touch, struggling against her embrace. But slowly and calmly she continued to call his name and hold him close.

For a moment, nothing happened. Alex continued to struggle, but gradually, he started to relax. His breathing slowed down, and he stopped struggling to get free from her touch. Mia could feel him sagging in her arms–his energy was spent.

She put her arms around him, holding him tight. She held on, whispering soothing words to him, until he was completely calm. Mia felt a sense of relief wash over her.

She had managed to reach and bring him back from the brink of anger.

When he finally calmed down, he eased his entire muscles and tears cascaded down his cheeks as he squeezed his eyes shut.

Alex's knees gave up on him, and he fell, getting snatched by the throes of darkness. Mia's heart skipped a beat as she tried to hold him up but she couldn't. He hit the ground and she crouched beside his body, wrapping her arms around him.

Mia released his body, looking down at the destruction around them. Mia couldn't explain what she saw in his eyes, she didn't know if it was sadness or what exactly to call it, but she knew she saw pain and the loss might have driven him to such a state.

She couldn't help but feel sad for him as she looked at his unconscious body. She shook, praying for him to regain consciousness.

Amidst her prayers she was in tears, she wasn't there when he needed her to help him cope with everything. But she was grateful nothing happened to him, she couldn't imagine anything happening to Alex especially now that she has been having the feeling of always being there for him.

With everything that just happened, she somehow felt closer to Alex than ever before.

She knew that they had been together for sometime but she just couldn't explain the feelings she was having now.

She was head over hill for him and that was all that mattered.

She made a little promise in her heart to always stand by him through whatever he was facing to let him know he was never alone.

A sharp pain pricked at her arms, stopping her train of thoughts, causing her glance down at her arms. Her breathing hitched when she saw claw-like bruises peppered around her cream skin.

Alex had dug his claws Into her frigile skin when she had hugged him to calm down.
