Chapter 50: Chapter 50
Adam Heartman
Heartman's eyes fluttered open, and for a moment, he was disoriented.
He groaned and tried to sit up, but a sharp pain in his chest made him gasp and fall back to the bed.
Panic set in as he tried to move, but his body felt heavy and weak.
He blinked rapidly, trying to clear his vision, and get used to the brightness of the light rays coming in through the windows in the room
The guard placed to keep watch on him noticed his movement, and walked swiftly to him in other to assist him.
Alpha Heartman studied his environment and when he was sure he was in the right place,he held onto the guard that came to assist him.
"Where's Alex?" Heartman demanded; his voice was hoarse from disuse. "I need to speak to him."
The guard hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. He didn't know if he was to leave the post, but then Alpha Alex stern warning came to his mind,
"Don't leave your post unless the substitute is already present."
But Heartman's intense stare made it clear that he wasn't going to take no for an answer. He nodded and left the room, closing the door behind him and walked into the hallway to call another guard to take his place at the doorpost, while he ran to Alpha Alex's room.
A few minutes later, Alex burst into the room; his was face grim and determined. Heartman was relieved to see him, but also apprehensive. He knew that he had a lot to tell Alex, and that it wasn't going to be easy.
"Alex," Heartman said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I need to talk to you alone, it's important."
Alex nodded, and dismissed the other pack members and guards who were around or standing close to the room. He then turned his attention back to Heartman
"What's going on?" Alex asked.
"Your mom, she's still held captive. She was badly injured and couldn't keep up so she asked me to leave her alone so I could get back to the pack fast and then go back for her with help. I promised her I'll be coming back with help and we'll set her Free," Heartman explained with a shake in his voice.
Alex clenched his jaw, feeling anger brewing in his stomach.
"She's being held captive?" Alex questioned in a voice that was cold and controlled. "Do you have any idea who's behind this?"
Heartman shook his head weakly. "No, I don't. But I can tell you this much. They're powerful. More powerful than I've ever seen. Their guards are much but I didn't see anything on them to know who they are."
Heartman went ahead and narrated every other thing he noticed while he was still being held captive by the unknown group.
Alex nodded with a grim expression. "I'll assemble a team to rescue my mother," he said.
"We'll take them down."
Heartman's heart swelled with gratitude. He had always knew Alex would make a good leader, but now he was beginning to see that he indeed made such a great Alpha.
"Thank you," Heartman whispered with a lump in his throat.
Alex stood up, walked out of the room and motioned to some warriors who were standing in the corner of the room where he had directed them to stay.
"You, prepare to go on a rescue mission. Get your gear together and assemble outside for further instructions, I'll be out shortly."
He took a deep breath and composed himself, knowing that he needed to be strong and focused for the upcoming mission. He gathered the warriors and led them out into the night, determined to rescue his mother and bring whosoever was behind his parents kidnap down.
As they set out to prepare for the mission, Alex couldn't help but feel a sense of dread.
They didn't know what the people were capable of, but they weren't going to run and hide, they had to save their previous Luna from the claws of the enemy.
He knew that the situation was dangerous, and that the stakes were high but he also knew that his worriors had the strength and determination to see it through.
He knew they were ready to face whatever challenges laid ahead.
He was determined to bring his mother home, and make sure whoever was behind the kidnap faced justice and get to taste the wrath of the crystal Moon pack.
It was going to serve as a warning for all other pack with same mindset.
All the while, Alex maintained his cold and collected exterior, everyone who looked at him would think every thing was ok but within him, he was seething with anger.
Although he had never been close to his mother, it was an insult to the pack that the previous Alpha and Luna were kidnapped. He was furious, and he knew that he would stop at nothing to get her back
As soon as he was alone in his room, Alex let out a yell of frustration and slammed his fist into the mirror on the wall.
The glass shattered into a million pieces, and left fresh cuts around his wrists but Alex barely felt the pain. He continued to punch the mirror and his anger and frustration grew with every blow.
His breathing intensified as anger hit him wave after wave, pushing him to the wall.
Little pieces of the mirror pierced into his fist but he didn't consider it or felt any pain from it.
He was consumed with rage and determined to bring his mother home.
His demon was taking hold of him, and he didn't care, he continued hitting the mirror and moved to destroying things in the room with rage.
He let his emotions out without restraining it and couldn't control himself anymore.
The guards heard the commotion in the Alpha's room but mo guard dared to go close to the door.
