Chapter 49: Chapter 49

Adam Heartman

He had become conscious again and he took it as a second chance by the moon goddess to get to his pack.

Running through the thick forest with his last strength, Heartman was determined to get to the crystal Moon pack quick so they could go back to get Nathalie before those mysterious people do something hurtful to her. He promised her he'd come back for her and he wouldn't break that promise no matter what.

With his heightened sense of smell, he could help himself in what direction to go.

His eyes glistening with hope as he could perceive the smell of their pack getting stronger than before. He pushed harder until he got to the territory of the crystal Moon pack.

Too weak to mindlink anyone, he blacked out

The sun began to set over the dense forest, while the Pack Patrol Guard continued their routine patrol. They scanned the woods and territories for any sign of danger, listening intently for the slightest rustle of leaves or snap of a twig.

The night was dark and cold as the pack patrol guards walked through the forest, keeping an eye out for any signs of danger. Suddenly, one of them spotted something on the ground ahead.

"Hey, what's that?" he asked, pointing to a figure lying motionless on the ground.

The other guards rushed over to him and again he pointed towards the figure lying on the ground. Carefully, they got closer to investigate, and found that it was Alpha Heartman.

He was barely conscious, his breathing was shallow and labored. There was blood on his body like someone who had been ambushed.

Without hesitation, the guards gathered around their former Alpha and leader, carefully lifting him off the ground and carrying him back to the villa.

They placed Alpha Heartman into one of the bedrooms.

The pack's healers were summoned and they worked tirelessly to stabilize the Alpha.

They called out for Alex and told him about the situation and in a hurry, he got to the bedroom his father was lying and being administered treatment to with Mia behind him.

The pack healers treated his injuries, cleaning and bandaging his wounds. They rried to revive him, but he remained unconscious.

Hours passed as the healers worked to bring Heartman back to full health. Despite their efforts, however, he remained unconscious; his breathing slow and shallow.

Alex called out to the patrol guards who found his father lying lifeless in the pack territory.

"Where did you find him like this?" Alex questioned with concern.

"In the forest, Alpha, the far end of the pack territory."

"Did you find any trace to how he got here and what happened to him?"

"No, Alpha. I found him unconscious and called for help. We immediately took him inside the pack house and summoned the pack healers to help stabilise him and then called you."

"Where are the other patrol guards who where on duty with you?" Alex furrowed his forehead.

"They're still patrolling, Alpha."

"Good tell them I want them to keep watch on anything they can find related to what happened to my father." Alex ordered.

"I'll pass the message across, Alpha." The patrol guard bowed when he was dismissed by Alex.

Going back to Mia's side Alex still showed no emotions or expressed his feelings.

Mia took the lead and held his hand as they both sat down waiting for the pack healers to come out and explain what exactly happened to him and know if he was in a better condition.

*********

As the night dragged on, news was already out about what the patrol guards saw in the pack territory.

The pack members gathered outside the room, waiting anxiously for any news of their previous Alpha's condition. The air was thick with tension and worry, and the only sounds were the distant howls of wolves, and the occasional murmur from the healers inside the room.

When dawn broke over the forest, the healers emerged from the room, their expressions grave. There were a few pack members still gathering around the pack house, waiting and hoping for good news.

"Heartman is stable, but he is not out of danger yet," one of the healers said to Alex immediately he came out from the room. "He has suffered severe injuries and will need time to recover."

"We couldn't find any harmful substances or poison in his bloodstream, so we feel he might have gotten into a fight with some rogues," the other healer announced.

The pack members breathed a sigh of relief, but their worry was not completely alleviated. They knew that their former Alpha was strong and resilient, but they also knew that the road to recovery would not be an easy one.

Alex took Mia back to her room to get some rest because none of them slept throughout the night as they stayed up and looked over Heartman.

But before leaving the room he assigned Claron to keep watch of everything and everyone coming in and going out of the room, warning him not to leave the post unless a substitute was already there to take over. No mistake was to be made.

For the next few days, the pack guards took turns keeping watch over Heartman, making sure he was comfortable and had everything he needed. The healers continued to monitor his condition, administering medicine and tending to his wounds.

The boarders and territories weren't left unwatched. The securities were tightened up to look for clue to what had happened to Heartman.

Slowly but surely, Heartman began to show signs of improvement. His breathing became steadier, and he started to regain consciousness.

Days passed, and Heartman's condition steadily improved.

Though his condition improved, Alpha Heartman still remained unconscious.

Despite his steady improvement, the fact that Alpha Heartman was still unconscious was a cause for concern to Alex.

His father was found almost dead and his mother was nowhere to be found with no clue to what had happened to them. He wanted answers, which could only be given to him by his father.
