Chapter 48: Chapter 48

Mia made her way into the library, looking behind her to make sure she hadn't been caught.

As she stepped into the library, she could feel a sense of awe and wonder wash over her. The grandeur of the architecture, the smell of old books, and the hushed whispers of silence all combined to create an atmosphere.

The library was a grand, archaic structure with ornate carvings and beautiful stonework that dated back to centuries. The entrance was a massive, wooden door that creaked with age, and as she stepped inside, her heart stopped with the sound as she hoped the guards wouldn't hear it and come running.

The light inside was dim from flickering candles casting a warm glow across the space. The ceiling was high and vaulted with carved wooden beams and intricate designs painted in gold leaf, and she found herself lost in its beauty. The walls were lined with intricate frescoes, depicting scenes from ancient myths and legends, each one a masterpiece of artistry and skill.

The shelves themselves were made of polished oak, towering high above her head, filled with books of every shape and size. Some were bound in leather, others in cloth, and still others in ivory. They were arranged in meticulous order with each one carefully cataloged.

Mia couldn't help smiling as she looked at the careful arrangement, it was clearly the work of a gentle hand that loved beauty. She couldn't help wondering who had taken out time to design the library. The scent of old books and leather filled her nostrils, and she could almost feel the weight of the knowledge contained within them.

In the center of the library was a grand staircase, leading up to a balcony that ram along the upper level. From where she stood, she could see the full expanse of the library. Row upon row of books stretched out into the distance. The scent of old paper and leather filled her nostrils. It was a truly beautiful sight. For a library restricted to only Alphas it was far more big than she imagined.

She had heard from the maids about its grandeur and beauty, but seeing it with her own eyes was a different experience altogether. The shelves stretched high up to the ceiling, and the books seemed to go on forever. Mia felt a sense of awe for the majestic view that lay before her.

Walking down the aisles, she couldn't help but feel small and insignificant. She ran her fingers over the spines of the books, careful not to disturb them. The rows of books were endless, and she could spend hours just exploring the different genres and subjects.

She made her way to the rare books section, and as she walked in, she was struck by the beauty of the room. The walls were adorned with intricate carvings, and the shelves were lined with leather-bound books. The room was quiet, and the only sound was the gentle rustling of pages as people perused the books.

Mia finally spotted Alex, who was seated in a corner of the room. He looked peaceful lying back in his chair with his eyes closed. Mia assumed he was asleep and tip-toed towards him, not wanting to disturb his sleep.

She stopped in front of him, and couldn't help but admire his handsome facial features. She had always found Alex attractive, not that she has ever said so. His chiseled jawline, piercing blue eyes, and messy black hair made her heart flutter.

Mia felt a sudden urge to touch his face, to feel the warmth of his skin against her fingertips. She slowly reached out; her hand trembling slightly, and she gently brushed his cheek. Alex stirred slightly, but he didn't wake up or maybe he was awake but decided to keep his eyes closed.

Mia felt a rush of adrenaline as she continued to caress his face; her fingers, tracing the contours of his jawline and the curve of his lips. She had never been this close to him before, and she felt a sense of intimacy that was both exhilarating and frightening. She blamed her wolf for the many thoughts that flashed through her mind and his soft breaths fanned her face.

Alex's eyes fluttered open, and he looked up at Mia. She froze, her hand still on his face, unsure of what to do next. Alex smiled at her, and Mia felt her heart skip a beat.

She waited for him to push her away, but he didn't and neither did his smile falter. Her stomach flipped.

"Hey, Mia," he said, his voice low and barely audible.

His eyes turned into a soft shade of blue, and she found it harder to breath. With just an inch between them, it was easy for both of them to see how the other was struggling to breathe. His eyes grew even darker.

Mia's mind warned her then to step back. There was something insane about this Alpha, but she felt bound to that moment. Too lost to take a step back. She was lost in the darkness his eyes housed and it pulled her into his essence.

For a moment, they just stayed lost in each other's gaze. The air between them crackled with tension, and Mia could feel her heart pounding in her chest.

From the opened window Mia could hear the wind singing in tune with the chippers. The sound seemed to pull her out from her trance-like state and she decided to say something to ease the tension.

Before she could think of something to say, Alex pressed his lips to hers, cutting off her words. Her eyes widened in shock and her heart raced, but as he sucked on her bottom lip, she released her muscles and closed her eyes.

It was a soft and gentle kiss, but it sent a jolt of electricity through Mia's body. She could feel herself melting into his embrace as he pulled her so she was now sitting on his laps, wanting to stay there forever.

The gentle kiss eventually turned to a fierce fight for dominance between the two. Each wanting to take the lead, leaving them out of breath and gasping for air.

When they finally pulled away, Alex looked at her with a mixture of surprise and wonder.

"I've been wanting to do that for so long," he murmured, his eyes shining with emotion and his lips tilted into a half smile.
