Chapter 34: Chapter 34

Mia Heartman

After her meeting with the chef, who hadn't explained to her what she meant by what she had said about knowing her for years, she returned to her  room in both confusion and frustration. Mia was certain she only met the woman that day.

She couldn't help but feel like everyone was hiding something from her and it wasn't a good feeling.

Alex didn't return that day to see her, neither did he the day after. It even seemed like he was ignoring and avoiding her all over again. She was disappointed and sad but there was hardly anything she could do. She couldn't even reach him through the mate bond.

She was feeling a lot better now and she wanted to know all about what had happened that day at the river. Yes, it still bugged her and she was desperate to know.

•••••••••••

The next day, Mia woke up in her usual joyful and playful mood. She was used to feeling happy that she hardly knew how it felt to be sad. But recently, she had been forced to understand because of Alex.

Alex made her emotions messed up that sometimes she felt like running into his most certainly cold embrace and kissing those red lips of his. On other days, she felt like cursing at him and crying her eyes out. Those were days he ignored and avoided her.

Today however, she felt happy and was glad she did.

"Milady." It was Anne again. She had brought with her the green poison Jericho called medication.

"I'm not taking that, Anne."

Mia groaned before running for the door.

She knew Anne would try to convince her otherwise, so the only solution she could come up with was for her to escape.

She heard her call her name from behind and laughed to herself like a child as she flew down the stairs with Anne hot on her tail.

Mia had fully recovered and planned to enjoy her day to the fullest. She needed it, she owed herself that much and even more.

"Your highness!" Anne shouted, trying to point Mia's attention to the water on the floor in front of her, but it was too late as she slipped and fell.

Anne rushed quickly to help her as dread consumed her. If anything happened to her, she would never forgive herself as she wouldn't even have the time to because she would be dead by the Alpha.

She was however surprised to see the Luna laughing even more as she sat up right on the wet ans sloppy floor. It was still cleaning time and the maid who was cleaning fell on her face already begging for her life.

"That's fine. It was my fault," Mia shrugged, wiping tears of joy from her eyes.

Still grinning, she looked up at Anne who was horrified.

"Stop looking at me like that, Anne. I'm fine." Mia maintained her grin. She was doing alright and had never been better.

After her little run, she returned to her room and got ready for her day. She went to the kitchen and told the lots of them, who had been done with their duties, made up but intriguing stories.

"So were the dragons indeed real?" A black, beautiful cook asked. Her name was Cindy and she was truly graceful and pleasant to the eyes.

"Yes. As a matter of fact, they were very real and legends have it that they had human riders," Mia explained.

This made the head cook laugh lightly as she kept slicing the potatoes.

She still remembered little Mia used to do the exact same thing to kids her age. She would engage them just like this and they'd all sit in a large circle on the floor; too intrigued by her tales to even pay attention to their favorite toys. Just like they were doing now. Only, it was not toys they were not paying attention to, but work.

Many were done with their duties but some weren't. She cut them some slack because of how much they worked everyday. The head cook had seen how judiciously and quickly they worked nowadays just so they could attend Mai's fable classes.

It was a good thing to know that she still remained the same. Unlike dear Alex. She really missed the young innocent boy he used to be then.

•••••••••••

After her fable class with the cooks and helps, she went to the garden with Annabel, who was excited to go with her unlike her Iz.

She had gone there the moment she found out there was a garden in the palace. She was very drawn to flowers and she planned to have her own flower shop somewhere in the future.

She had her long, black hair flowing as she was dressed in a simplw, yet elegant blue dress. It complimented her skin tone and the cold weather perfectly.

"So, what is this flower called?"

Mia asked the garden instructor as she pointed at a pink and purple flower. She had never come across one before.

"It's called a salin," He explained. "It only grows in this part and is not seen anywhere else."

The gardener was a young man who had a widow's peak but he was still good looking.

Mia touched the flower delicately and the part she touched withered.

"As just shown, they are allergic to a person's touch," The gardener pointed out.

Mia took her time to examine the flowers, trying not to touch them. She was very intrigued by them and would hate to kill them.

Just when she was about to take a bend, she sighted Alex in a distance. He was wearing all sweats and he looked as formidable and handsome as always. She also noticed how rough his hair was. She smiled to herself as she knew he must have been running his fingers through them again.

She also noticed he was talking with some weird looking people but she couldn't care less about them. All her care in this world was for one man and he was standing right in the distance, towering over his visitors, looking all hot and die for in just sweats.

She knew he must have notice her stare as his eyes found hers almost immediately. She smiled brightly at him and even gave a small wave. He didn't smile back, neither did he reciprocate her wave, but he seemed more at ease than he was a few moments back and he kept staring at her till she spun, going after the gardener and Annabel who had left her behind.
