Chapter 35: Chapter 35
Alex Heartman
Alex was slowly getting impatient with the unreasonable bunch.
"A hundred and four barrels of gold for your international ports," Alex said dismissively. He was being very generous, even. From eighty four to a hundred and four barrels, that was a very generous price for their port.
"That's a bit too small, don't you think?" Chairman Lee injected again, getting on Alex's nerves.
"We are talking about our trade port's twenty five percent here. You must make a little addition to that."
This man was greedy and so were the lot of them.
"Either that or leave," Alex said sternly. He wasn't paying anything more than that. He was a greedy man himself.
Chairman Lee frowned and even went as far as ignoring his crew members who were trying to speak to him. Hmm, he was proud too, well, Alex was even more so.
"You can't just turn us away with such a deal. Do you have any idea where we have traveled from? Where's your father anyways? I believe I would have to talk to him and not you. Who even made you ruler of this great kingdom?" Chairman Lee wrinkled his nose in distaste as he scanned Alex from head to toe.
Alex had a neutral look plastered on his face but he was upset.
The man went on, taking Alex's silence as leverage. "I determine to speak with your father." The man seemed more confident than he had felt before.
"I'll advise you shut the fuck up if you want stay alive," Alex threatened, maintaining his calmness and the man could bet he heard wrong 'cause the voice and words he just heard from the young king's mouth wasn't in anyway related to what he was seeing written on his face.
Chairman Lee swallowed, visibly scared and Alex fought to control himself. He couldn't kill this fool and risk blowing their cover. The humans were weak, yet smart and exploitive and if they realized that werewolves did exist, it would put not just his kind, but also that of the vampires and other species in danger. The humans wouldn't hesitate to kidnap and experiment on those caught.
Alex knew he was slowly losing control and could already feel the demon creeping. He needed to get out of there and fast. He looked behind for Hendrix, ready to instruct him to take control from where he had stopped but Hendrix was no where to be seen.
Where the heck was he? He knew pretty well how angry he got around humans and he was also aware how he got when he was angry.
Alex had no other choice but to handle this meeting himself.
"If we are to give you some of our nuclear weapons for your gold, and also twenty five percent of our sales, I just think we need a bigger amount," Chairman Lee stubbornly said.
Chairman Lew wasn't backing down and he wasn't letting go of the deal. They had come a long way for this and he wasn't about to just let it go just like that.
"A hundred and fifty would be a good start," He added when Alex said nothing. Alex weighed this price mentally. It wasn't a bad deal but he had never bent to the will of anyone and he wasn't about to start now.
"Either you take my offer or you leave." Alex chewed the insides of his cheeks, he knew well enough that they wouldn't because they had truly come a long way.
The weather had gone considerably cold even for Alex. Imagine what the humans were going through.
"Could we go inside and discuss this? The weather is becoming too severe for us," the other man by the chairman's side, said.
Alex studied him for a little while. He had on a very thick sweater and a scarf wrapped around his neck yet, still shivering. His nose and ears were pink from the cold and his eyes; teary.
This was good, if they stayed in the cold a bit longer, they would agree to his offer and take it to escape the very uncondusive weather.
"No, we can't. I will not let your filth into my home," Alex simply stated, his words, directed at their chairman. If he was just as arrogant as the Alpha had estimated, he would stubbornly choose to stay out here and not push to enter his home.
"We don't want into your cursed home anyways," Lee muttered under his breath.
He believed the Alpha wouldn't hear and if he were an ordinary man, he wouldn't have but he wasn't a pure human, he was a beast and man in one body.
Alex grinded his teeth together, really upset to be have been insulted by this small, inconsequential being. He was about to snap when his heart beat increased, his palm got all sweaty and his mouth, dry.
He knew this feeling pretty well Mia...
He followed the angle from which her heartbeat was coming from and he saw her already looking at him. She had a smile on her face and Alex felt his heart jump a bit. She had on a blue gown and her long, black hair was left flowing down her back like a black flowing sea if there was any.
Her skin was pale white and the dress complimented her skin tone pretty well. She was barefooted and her delicate feet looked really pretty and small. Her standing there amidst roses and beautiful flowers, smiling brightly at him made the moment all more memorable and he felt the need to stare at her for eternity.
She was truly beautiful and it did things to him. Mostly calmed him down. He suddenly felt at peace and cared for. She waved at him a bit and he heard her heartbeat quicken a bit. She felt the same and Alex couldn't take his eyes of her. He was scared she was just a fragment of his imagination and that she would vanish at any moment.
Her eyes were so bright and pretty that Alex totally forgot about his meeting and fixated all his attention on her. This did not, however go unnoticed by the chairman and he smirked at the young king's clear affection for the gardener.
Mia soon walked away from his sight and Alex felt a sudden pang of anger like his peace had accompanied her.
