Chapter 117: Chapter 117

Jessica took the kids to see their father. The moment of reunion was bliss for her. Although they didn't stay long, the warmth from their presence lasted till the day he was discharged.

It was two weeks later. Jessica had informed Angela and her parents about the discharge. She wanted Angela to bring the kids to the hospital so that they could all go to Edwin's house straight.

Angela was happy for her. She knew that it was a huge step toward their coming back together.

Jessica was at the pharmacy, collecting his drugs and their prescription. Edwin refused to remain in bed. Although he couldn't move his shoulder or raise his left arm, he could actually walk very well. So while Jessica was busy downstairs, he packed their stuff with his one hand and went down to meet her, pulling the bag behind him.

Once she sighted him coming, she quickly went to collect the bag from him.

"I told you to wait!" She scolded. "Why so stubborn?"

Edwin chuckled. "I can walk. I'm not crippled. And, I'm too eager to leave this place. The smell of drugs and disinfectant is making me lose my mind."

Jessica giggled. "Alright. The kids should be here any minute." She said.

Hand in hand, they walked out of the hospital. Jessica went to place the bag in the trunk of his car which the police brought to the hospital after the incident. She opened the passenger door for him but he refused to sit there.

"What is the matter?" Jessica inquired.

"The kids are here. They will want to sit with me. Let me sit at the back." He suggested. Jessica shrugged. She went and opened the door for him.

Edwin got into the car and made himself comfortable. Abby and Gabby ran toward Jessica.

"Mom!" Gabby hugged her legs. "Where is daddy?"

"In the car sweetheart," Jessica answered. Gabby peeked to find Edwin seated at one corner of the vehicle. He smiled brightly and waved at him. "Hi, daddy! How do you feel?"

"Very good champ," Edwin said with a smile. Abby poked her head in as well. "Hey princess. Come in."

Abby climbed into the car and sat herself beside Edwin. She was careful to not disturb his injured arm as well. Edwin never felt prouder.

Once the kids were settled in, Jessica closed the door.

"Thanks." She said to Angela. She collected their bags and placed them in the trunk of the car.

"I'm sorry we were delayed. We took a detour home to grab a few of your clothes as well. Maybe if you finally decide to stay with him permanently, we can have the rest shipped to your new home."

"Haha, Angela." Jessica rolled her eyes. "It's not that serious."

Angela laughed. "Be good, J. Take care of him, and take extra care of you."

Jessica hugged her tightly. "Thanks."

After saying goodbye to Angela, Jessica entered the car and drove them to Edwin's house.

"Where are we going, mommy?" Gabby asked. The road seemed too unfamiliar to him.

"We're going to our house," Edwin said.

"We're going to daddy's house," Jessica said.

She turned to look at Edwin in the mirror. He also glanced at her.

"We are going to daddy's house. But it's also our house. It's your house and Abby's house." Edwin explained.

"What about mommy?" Gabby asked.

Edwin turned to Jessica. "I don't know if mommy wants to own the house with us. Mommy, do you want to own the house with us?"

Jessica smirked. She knew what he was trying to achieve. "Anywhere my babies are, that's my home."

Edwin smiled very brightly. "See. Mommy Jas accepted us."

Gabby smiled as well.

The journey took thirty minutes. But the kids were very happy to arrive. Edwin's house was beautiful and they loved it.

They held Edwin and walked carefully to bring him into the house.

Jessica watched them with a warm smile on her face. She took out the bags and brought them into the house.

"Alright kids, go and choose your rooms. Take your bags and place your things well." Jessica said. They didn't wait to be told twice, they obeyed their mother.

"As for you Mister, let's go and have your wound cleaned up. The nurses say if we go on any journey, I should make sure to clean your wounds."

Edwin didn't refute. He followed her obediently. So long as it was her who took care of him, he wasn't going to disturb at all.

Jessica undid his bandage.

"You have to take a shower first. Then I will reclean the wound and cover it up."

"Didn't the nurse say the water wasn't supposed to touch it?" Edwin said.

"Yes. I will place the former covering. Then after you shower, I will put in a new one."

"Okay. Let's go." He said, pulling her into the bathroom. He knew she wouldn't agree to it, but he only wanted to tease her.

"Go where?" Jessica asked, playing dumb.

"To shower. You know I'm injured, I can't bathe myself." He said, acting pitiful.

"Duh. You are right handed, not left handed. Go and shower you pervert." Jessica said, pushing him lightly. Her face had turned all shades of red. Edwin chuckled and went in to shower. Jessica stood there, staring at the slightly open bathroom door. A silent invitation. Did he really need her help?

"No." She said firmly, shaking her head. "He's just being a pervert,"

While Edwin was still in the bathroom, Jessica had a call from her father.

"How are you? How is Edwin?"

"We're fine dad. He's recovering really well."

"Okay.. uh, I wanted to ask you, to plead with you to drop the charges against Mr. Turner and Mr. Reid."

"Dad, Mr. Reid offended the government, not me. I can agree to drop that of Mr. Turner just because of Edwin, but Mr. Reid cannot be free from the government."

"Alright princess. Thank you."
