Chapter 116: Chapter 116

Babe, have you showered or changed since the accident?" Edwin asked.

"I couldn't leave your side," Jessica answered sheepishly.

"Well, I'm awake now. Go and shower and change and then you can return to stay with me." Edwin said. Jessica smiled. She went into the second part of the ward without much thought. Not long after, she returned with a different cloth.

"Have you had your changing materials the whole time?" Edwin demanded weakly.

Jessica nodded.

"So why didn't you just change?"

Jessica ignored his question. Couldn't he understand that she couldn't leave him for once

Edwin tapped the space beside him. "Come lay with me."

Jessica didn't waste any time. She was very exhausted too and knowing that he had survived the gunshot was able to keep her at rest.

She lay beside him, careful not to touch any of the bandages or the IVs. Edwin however did not care and pulled her closer to his side.

The two of them fell deep asleep. Each one takes out their exhaustion from being apart for such a long time.

By the time Jessica woke up, it was already morning. Seeing that the day was bright, she got up quickly and checked the time.

"Edwin! It's morning, why didn't you wake me?"

"You were tired, I had to let you sleep," Edwin stated.

"Ohh." Jessica groaned. "I have to check on the kids. Also, I need to visit the police station to give a statement."

"It's alright. Roy will be coming in soon to check on me. I can have him stay until you return." Edwin said.

Jessica nodded. "Stay safe okay?" She leaned in and pecked his forehead. Edwin enjoyed every bit of the attention.

After ensuring he was going to be alright, she finally left.

Edwin held a soft smile on his face even after she had left. The nurse came in to check on him and was surprised to not find Jessica there.

Edwin asked for the cause of her surprise and she explained to him everything Jessica had been doing since after the surgery.

Edwin was pleasantly surprised, he vowed to marry her once he was out of bed.

Jessica went to the police station first to see Edwin's private detective.

"Good day Mr. Detective." She greeted.

"Mrs. Turner. It's so good to see you. Why I've been trying to reach you."

"Why?" Jessica asked in shock.

"Well, I wanted to know how Mr. Turner was doing. Also, I wanted to inform you that we have found Ms. Reid."

"Oh, you did. Where is she?" Jessica asked calmly. She had planned all manner of evil to do to Hannah, but the next news shattered her entire plans.

"Well, in truth Mrs. Turner, we didn't just find her. We found her dead body."

"What?!" Jessica demanded. "Did she kill herself?"

"We cannot say. From the look of things, she must have fallen off the cliff end while running from the police."

Jessica narrowed her eyes in thought, tapping the desk as she did so. If Hannah was dead then she couldn't let the others go scott free.

"Mr. Detective, I don't think Hannah was alone in this. As a matter of fact, I want to press charges against Mr. Reid and Mr. Turner."

"Your husband?" The detective asked in surprise.

"Not Edwin." Jessica corrected. "I mean his father."

"Oh. What is the charge about, Ma'am?"

"They were responsible for the destruction of my father's business. They framed him to have him arrested and his business shut down. It was only that we allowed the government to gain possession of everything we owned, willingly, that made them release him."

"Now, there is proof that Mr. Reid is involved in the illegal importation of arms and ammunition and drugs and every form of weaponry."

"The proof, can I see it?"

"Sure." Jessica nodded. She showed him the receipts she had saved carefully and even the addresses of their hidden warehouse. The detective collected them and thanked her.

"Send my regards to Mr. Turner." Jessica nodded and left. She went to her parent's place to check on the kids and have them visit their father.

The detective took the proof to the government to have backing for the arrest of Mr. Turner and Mr. Reid. Seeing the proof, the warrant for arrest was granted.

Mr. Reid was in his house, alone. He had dismissed all his servants. He had managed to clear the media personnel that hung around his house. He was still in a rage that it was his daughter that sold them out. He hadn't even contacted anyone in the past week. He was trying to totally avoid being spotted by the government or any official.

When he heard the knock on his door, he assumed it was his daughter who had returned so he went to open the door. Soon as he saw the uniformed men, he sighed in defeat. Offering them a small smile, he asked what they wanted.

"Good day Mr. Reid." The detective said.

"Good afternoon detective." Mr. Reid replied. "To what do I owe this special visit?"

"We have the warrant from the government to have you arrested for the illegal importation of drugs and weaponry. You must comply in silence for whatever you say or do could be used against you in a court of law."

After speaking, he signaled for an officer to handcuff him and lead him to the van.

From his house, they went straight to the Turners' Mansion to arrest Mr. Turner.

The servants had alerted him of the arrival of the police. He quickly came out to receive them since he didn't want an embarrassment of any sort.

"Mr. Turner, we have the warrant from the government to have you arrested for being in compliance with Mr. Reid for the framing and destruction of the Graves' Pharmaceuticals and suspicion of being a partner in the illegal importation of drugs and weaponry."

Mr. Turner had a flat look on his face. What was going on? What drugs and weaponry? The only thing he did was frame the Graves. He didn't involve himself in anything illegal!

"I stand to have you corrected on that, detective." Mr. Turner said.

"You must remain silent Mr. Turner. Whatever you say can be used against you in a court of law. Please, come with us."

"We are not handcuffing you because we do not have proof that you are a compliance in the importation of contra-banned products. But any act of resistance or violence would require you being handcuffed immediately."

Mr. Turner sighed in defeat. He followed the officers into the car.
