Chapter 108: Chapter 108

Edwin was seated opposite Hannah in a restaurant. She was going on and on about all the things she had planned for their wedding. Edwin kept staring at her, wondering if she was dumb.

Hannah kept on ranting and ranting until she finally noticed that Edwin was mute all the while, and chances were that he wasn't paying attention to her.

"Ed?" She called. "Why I've been talking to you and you haven't said a thing."

"Why do I have to say anything? It's your wedding after all. I'm listening to you plan your wedding."

"Edwin! It's our wedding." Hannah corrected with a wry chuckle. "What do you mean by planning my wedding?"

"Hannah, you are wrong about the first part. It's not our wedding, it's really your wedding."

"What do you mean, Edwin?!" Hannah demanded, panicked. Her heart began to race. "Answer me!"

"Don't raise your voice at me, Hannah Reid." Edwin scolded coolly. "Listen and listen very well. This engagement, as officially, is broken. The marriage is canceled."

Hannah held her chest. "What do you mean?"

"Are you so dumb? Playing with you was fun enough, but I have some real deal to land. Take care of yourself, Hannah." He said, getting up from his seat. Hannah stood up with him, her eyes were getting teary. She held onto his shirt.

Edwin pulled his shirt away from her hand aggressively. He stormed out of the restaurant. Cameras flashed around him. He ignored it. If he was going to end things with Hannah anyway, he needed it to be broadcasted, just the same way his engagement with her was broadcasted.

"Edwin Turner, you get back right this instant! You're not leaving me, you hear? You cannot leave me!" Hannah screamed at the top of her voice.

Edwin ignored her. He continued walking towards his car. Hannah ran to catch up with him just in time to slam his car door shut and stand before the door.

"Get away from here and don't let me do something rash!" Edwin growled. Hannah felt scared, she shifted subconsciously.

"Edwin.." She sobbed. "Please don't do this."

Edwin sighed. "The engagement is over. Everything was a mistake that I regret doing. The only way I can free myself from regret is to end things with you. I hope you find happiness, Miss Reid."

Hannah watched as his car began to move slowly, gradually until it picked up speed and vanished totally. She stood there, speechless. Her heart was totally broken. In a fit of rage, she drove back home, and stormed into the house, screaming her lungs out.

Nobody could pacify her at all. She broke whatever came her way. She couldn't lose Edwin. Not now. Not ever.

Jessica was at home that evening, listening to the kids tell her about their school activities. She chipped in a comment occasionally while they spoke energetically. Once she saw the time, she urged them to retire for the night.

"Goodnight mommy!" Abby kissed her left cheek.

"Goodnight mum." Gabby kissed her right cheek.

Jessica smiled warmly. "Goodnight kids. Don't forget to turn off your lights."

Once they went in, she turned on the news to watch.

She relaxed in her seat, listening to the reports given by the newscaster. Then the news moved to a live video of Hannah running after Edwin at a restaurant. The headline read, Popular Business Tycoon And Billionaire Playboy, Edwin Turner, Breaks Another Heart In A Public Show.

Jessica chuckled a little. Why did she feel happy about it? Perhaps it was because she could see that it was because Edwin wanted to make things right again with her that he did all those things. Smiling to herself, she paid even closer attention to them. The video was displayed live on TV.

As if on cue, the doorbell rang. She got up and went to answer the door. Jessica was surprised in a very pleasant way, to find Edwin standing at her door. He was dressed so handsomely and definitely not for a visitation.

"Hi." He said, offering her a boyish grin. Jessica found herself smiling in return.

"Hi." She responded. "Come in."

Edwin entered the house, still full of smiles. He could feel that the resentment she had for him earlier had reduced drastically, and he was proud of it.

"I doubt you're here for a mere visitation." She said, standing before him with crossed arms.

"No? Why don't you think so?" Edwin asked in return.

Jessica pointed to him. "That's not how you dress for a sleepover."

Edwin's brow went up. "Are you inviting me to sleep over?"

"What? No!" She said, "Don't push it, Edwin."

Edwin smiled. "So.. "

"I heard you're single now," Jessica said. "I had just watched it on the news. Impressive, might I add."

Edwin nodded. "Speaking of which, I came to take you out for dinner."

"Oh? Aren't you supposed to be mourning your newly broken relationship?" She teased.

"Haha, Jessica. It was meant to have never begun." Edwin deadpanned. "Now, kindly go in and dress up so that we can go out."

Jessica smiled and went into her room. She sighed as she opened her wardrobe. Somewhere, she felt jitters. What was she going to wear?

"Confused?" Angela asked from behind. "Here, wear this. It's comfortable for whatever place you could go, and it's not too extravagant since it's night time."

Jessica thanked her and wore the clothes. She was grateful for having someone like Angela beside her. In Times like this, it was Angela who babysit the kids.

She returned to Edwin and they left together. Edwin took her to a bar for a hangout.

Gary was just leaving the bar, after trying to soothe his broken heart when he sighted her alighting from a car. He was just about to make his way toward her when he saw Edwin coming down from the same car. He smiled sadly.

He took out his phone from his pocket and stared at his call log. His eyes were glued to Jessica's number. Below it was Lolita's.

"I should just go and make up with her anyway. I can't lose on both ends." He said to himself.
