Chapter 50: Chapter 50

The next few months rolled by and Sofia's assessments were over. Celestine was stronger and naughtier than ever. She was a handful already and always needed someone to look after her. Both Jane and Greta were haggard running after her. Sofia with her studies and Celestine to handle was finding it more and more difficult every day to cope up.

On the other hand, Davion handled Celestine very well and sang and danced for her making her roll with laughter. He spoiled her rotten and the nursery was already bursting with baby toys of all shapes and sizes. In fact, the whole house was filled with her baby things!

"Relax, Sofia. Don't unnecessarily take so much stress. Jane and Greta are managing her fine. Why can't you rest?" asked Davion. "Are you nauseous yet?" he asked hopefully. Sofia rolled her eyes at him. She knew that for the last two months, he hadn't used protection at all with her. She had protested since she hadn't finished her studies and Celestine was small but he hadn't listened.

"No. I don't want another baby now, Davion, please," protested Sofia.

"Don't worry, you won't get pregnant," he said, dejectedly. Sofia gaped at him. What was wrong with him?

"What happened Davion? Of course, I'm at risk of getting pregnant since I've stopped breastfeeding Celestine," said Sofia. Davion released a staggering breath and gave her a strange look, mixed with longing and desperation.

"I am incapable of becoming a father again, Sofia," he said as tears fell from his eyes. Sofia was stunned at his revelation but soon realized how much he was hurting. She pulled him into her arms and held him tightly.

"Who said you can't be? Usually, you don't get pregnant again before a year," said Sofia, stroking his hair.

"Terence told me. In all the cases that he had handled so far, the men were unable to produce any spe*m after a pelvic injury," he informed her. Sofia shook her head.

"Did you take the test? Terence isn't a doctor. He's just a physiotherapist. Don't conclude without doing an actual test, Davion," advised Sofia.

The next day, Davion went to the clinic and had a test done since he couldn't be at peace without knowing the reality. He didn't inform Sofia and waited patiently for the reports to arrive. However, just as he had expected, after getting the reports, he lost all hope and came home dejected. Sofia was worried about him and he just handed the reports over to her. The reports clearly stated that he had a low spe*m count in his eja*ulation due to the surgeries performed upon him.

"I'm sure there's adequate treatment for this. It's not at all a serious thing. What's the hurry Davion? We have Celestine, don't we? Give her time to grow and in the meantime, your body will also heal. Even my body needs healing. It's not the end of the world, we can consult a good doctor for remedy," she comforted him.

Months passed by and soon it was time for Vicky's delivery. Sofia expressed her wish to go and see her twin when her baby would be born over dinner.

"Vicky's delivery is next week, Davion. I want to go to Las Vegas for a few days, " said Sofia. In the past few months, Victoria had recovered from her mental trauma, thanks to the exceptionally good therapist she consulted.

"Sure, we can all go. In fact, Colton and I were planning to go to Las Vegas next week as Colton has scheduled a grand event at one of our casinos there.

Sofia was instantly suspicious of his statement. Why would Colton keep a grand event next week at Las Vegas of all places? Ever since Davion had actively started looking into the business, Colton had disappeared from their lives. After that dinner a few months back, he never visited them. "That's awesome then. I'm not telling Vicky anything. We'll surprise her and see her baby when it's born," said Sofia. Victoria told everyone that someone took advantage of her inebriated state and she got pregnant and that the father of the child denied everything and refused to take responsibility. She, however, didn't inform anyone that the person was Colton's friend. So no one questioned her any further and she went ahead with her pregnancy in peace.

"Yes, start packing. Don't tell your parents. They wouldn't be able to keep it away from Vicky, " laughed Davion. Sofia smiled too. It was true anyway. While her dad was angry and wanted to report to the police, he eventually accepted the fact that their hands were tied and they couldn't do a thing about it.

Sofia started packing as Davion had advised her to do. She spoke to her twin but refrained from informing her about her surprise visit.

At night, Davion and Sofia connected every time but although Davion didn't mention even once about having another baby, Sofia knew that it was eating him up. He had gone to a doctor and was getting himself the best treatment possible yet he was unable to impregnate her. Sofia gave up knowing his stubborn nature. He wouldn't listen.

Suddenly, out of the blue, after two days, Colton came over to their house. He looked a little relieved and Sofia had no idea what was going on with him for so long. Davion offered him a drink and they sat catching up on their lives. Colton smiled at Sofia for the first time in years, making her smile back with disbelief. She wanted to talk to him and waited for an opportunity to do so.

Colton stayed back for dinner and Greta served them delicacies that she had prepared especially for Colton. "Where do you disappear all of a sudden, you only know,' she scolded him, making him smile. "You need a good wife to keep you at home," said Greta with a chuckle. Sofia noted the dejection in his eyes as he gulped his drink at one go.

"I don't need anyone. I shall die all alone, Greta," he said, giving her a look that spoke a lot more.
