Chapter 49: Chapter 49

Eagerly Sofia accepted her mom's call. "Yes mom, tell me," she said, expecting her mom to start her panic-stricken rantings but instead she just sighed.

"You know about Vicky's condition, don't you?" she just asked. Sofia knew that there was no point in hiding it any longer. Her mom knew everything.

"Yes, Vicky told me. She threatened to leave home forever if I told anyone about it," said Sofia with a sigh. "I'm sorry, mom. I couldn't tell you even if I wanted to. Vicky's going through a traumatic time and I didn't want her to leave home," said Sofia. Her mom understood.

"Yes, I understood that much," said her mom, sighing heavily. "Your dad wants to take action against the criminal and get justice for Vicky but she isn't interested at all," said her mom.

"I think she needs therapy first, mom. Once the therapy starts taking effect upon her, she'll stop blaming herself for the incident and agree to take legal help," said Sofia. Her mom agreed and agreed to update her about everything. They discussed Celestine's antics and Davion's recovery for a while. She told her about their trip and finally disconnected the call.

Afterwards, when Davion came back for lunch, he took her to the enchanting restaurant on his property with stunning lake views through the majestic floor-to-ceiling windows. It took her breath away. "This is so breathtakingly beautiful," said Sofia, staring at the Golf course at the backside. "Who's Golf course is that?" she asked, looking out curiously.

"Mine and Colton's. It's a part of Tahoe Torres Casino and Resort,' he told her, making her eyes widen with surprise.

"Check out the food first, I'm sure you'll be bowled over all the more," he smiled. Picking up the menu card, Sofia checked the vast array of signature dishes on offer. Each was better than the previous one and she had a tough time choosing.

"Why don't you choose something for me? I can't decide," she said, her mouth watering after reading all the exotic names on the menu. Davion chuckled and picked up the menu card.

"Apart from poached octopus, I can have anything on the menu," she grimaced.

"Poached Octopus is delicious, actually," said Davion with a laugh.

"Please, I'll throw up if that is served on this table," she glared at him. Davion laughed all the more.

"Don't worry, I won't order," he said. The food was fresh and mouth-watering just as Davion had said it would be. With Celestine well-fed and fast asleep, they walked along the shores of Lake Tahoe after lunch.

"Do you need to go back to work? Or are you mine for the day?" asked Sofia. Davion wrapped an arm around her tenderly.

"I'm always yours, Sofia. I'm done for the day," he said, making her wrap her arm around his torso as they walked. Afterwards, they tried a hand at playing golf at the huge golf course and then returned back to the cottage to spend time with Celestine. Celestine was happily playing with Greta and Jane when they arrived. Jane had fed her milk already.

The rest of the evening they were free to play with Celestine and watch a relaxing movie. They ordered room service and ate while watching the movie. In fact, even Greta and Jane watched the movie with them.

The next day Davion took them all to the charming Heavenly Village which was an energy hub of shopping, dining, and entertainment. They spent a little time there and indulged in Ice-skating, miniature golf, and shopping before returning to the cottage as it was Celestine's feeding and sleeping time.

The next few days, Davion and Sofia spend a day of bliss with each other. Cruising on Lake Tahoe, fishing or simply sitting back on the terrace of their cottage and star gazing at night, everything was a refreshing change from their hectic city lives and they both needed the freshness. Sofia indulged in the spa treatments offered at the resort and Davion couldn't control himself when he returned to see her all glowing and radiant. The nights were filled with passionate lovemaking as Celestine slept in her cot at one corner of the room. She was a heavy sleeper and didn't wake up at night.

"Why don't you make this your base?" asked Sofia, feeling a little sad that they would be returning the next day.

Davion laughed. "I have casinos in exotic locales. All of them can't be homes. Home is where my heart is, in Reno. My dad built that house when we started our first casino there," said Davion as Sofia listened intently. He never talked much about his family and Sofia was glad that he was opening up to her.

"Oh, I thought that your first casino was in Las Vegas," said Sofia. Davion shook his head.

"Dad loved mom so much that he escaped Las Vegas the day he had enough money to move out. We settled here in Reno. Las Vegas reminded him of her," said Davion. He talked about his childhood in detail, about his mom in detail. He told her about his dad's financial condition and how his mom left him, the bitter divorce, everything. Sofia wiped her tears listening to his tragic story. After listening to his ordeal she could understand him more. She understood his lack of faith in relationships better. Although Davion had changed a lot since the first day she had met him, Sofia knew how vulnerable he still was.

She comforted him in ways she could and the passionate lovemaking that followed was heartfelt and touching. It showed him how much she loved him.

Finally, the next day, it was time to return back and they all packed up and climbed into the limousine. Greta and Jane were the unhappiest since this was the most relaxing holiday of their lives. The whole journey back, they were busy with Celestine who wasn't at all sleepy. She entertained them the whole time with her cute antics and soon they reached home.

"I can't wait for the next holiday," said Greta in a sing-song tone, unlocking the house and ushering them in. They all chuckled and agreed.
