Chapter 48: Chapter 48
Daisy's eyelids fluttered open and then furrowed slightly at the sunlight streaming through the curtains.
Afterwards, she looked around in confusion only to be surrounded by the white sterile walls.
For a minute, she was lost.
'Why does it look like I'm in a hospital?' she wondered.
Lowering her head slightly, she was a bit surprised to see Violet already fast asleep with her head on the bed just beside her.
Her heart squeezed slightly at that. The poor girl had stayed up all night to watch over her and had probably just fallen asleep.
It was just Violet in her ward but she knew her dad would be somewhere around.
'What happened?' she muttered while staring at various medical devices, their wires and tubes her body was tethered to. The room was silent, except for the faint beeping of the monitoring equipment.
She tried to get up but she still felt weak, so she could only ease the weight of her frail body against the pillows as she propped herself up.
Soon, Daisy heard footsteps and looking up, she saw a nurse coming towards her. The nurse gently smiled at her as she got to her bedside.
"How are you feeling now Daisy?" She asked while checking the monitor connected to her before bringing out a stethoscope.
Daisy shrugged, "Well, I guess... I don't know at least my eyes are opened and I'm still feeling myself right here," then she chuckled.
The nurse smiled and then patted her lightly on the shoulder.
"You'll be fine and stronger by tomorrow," she assured her.
With her gloved hands, she meticulously checked Daisy's vital organs.
Daisy quietly tried to turn in a way not to disturb her sister sleeping but the bed made a rustling sound.
Violet's eyes fluttered open and seeing her sister sitting up and awake, the sleep cleared off her eyes and she was awake in that instant.
With her eyes widening, she sprang to her feet and rushed to give her sister a hug but slowed down immediately and hugged her gently, remembering Daisy has not been that strong of late. Feeling so excited, she enveloped Daisy in a gentle embrace, mindful of her delicate condition.
"Oh, Daisy I'm so happy! Thank you so much for coming back," she squealed, a shimmer of tears glistening in her eyes. "You're finally awake. We've missed you so much."
Daisy's lips curled into a weak but heartfelt smile and she also wrapped her arms around Violet to return the hug.
"Where's dad?" She could not help but ask.
Violet withdrew the hug and stared at her sister's face.
"Dad had to step out for a moment, but he'll be back soon," Violet reassured. She had totally skipped the part about their doctor getting missing and their dad having to go to the police station regarding this matter.
Not when her sister is still weak.
Violet turned to the nurse and asked, "I can get her food right?"
"Yeah, sure" the nurse replied with a nod.
Then she turned back to Daisy and said with a soothing smile, "I'll be right back sis. I'll go arrange for a meal for you."
Following that, Violet slipped out of the VIP ward.
Now left alone with the nurse, Daisy began looking around.
She wondered where her boyfriend and Cindy were.
She sat down curiously, but not wanting to further disturb anyone, she held her peace knowing fully well everyone has a lot to do and she can't keep being a headache.
They are definitely busy and she would not expect them to be here with her all the time.
She felt she had disturbed them enough.
For now, she'd focus on recovering and then setting back the pieces of her life together.
A lot of things needed to be done.
In a high-end restaurant, two attractive figures sat opposite each other as they had lunch by the floor-to-ceiling window. They are at the VIP part of the restaurant, a secluded spot where they can't be disturbed.
These two figures are Wesley Maxwell, the CEO of Maxwell Corporation and his PA, personal officer and best friend, Andrew.
Now they are both even regarding information as they have discussed everything they both know and have found out. Working together, hand in hand would surely be far better.
"So what is the next plan?" Andrew suddenly asked while dipping his fork into his plate to scoop in some rice.
The DNA test had stated that the Rose on the hospital bed is the real daughter of the prime minister, proving all of Wesley's initial assumptions of there being an impersonator wrong but not all wrong.
Wesley simply shrugged then replied, "Glassware is the next plan. That was the plan initially before I digressed."
Andrew was surprised when he heard this that he gazed at Wesley in awe.
"You're dropping Daisy Louis' case?" He asked.
Wesley had been so interested in the actress's case right from the beginning that he could not help but wonder what went wrong.
Wesley simply shrugged and turned his gaze to the window.
"Before I go on with anything, she should see me first. I mean there's little I can do if she doesn't talk to me, yeah. For now, it's Glassware."
Andrew simply nodded then shrugged.
'Well... Wesley is right anyways. Who is she to block someone like Wesley would have greatly been of help. If she thinks she can do this herself, then she should!'
"She probably thinks now that her boyfriend made that post, everything would be fine and then go back o normal" Andrew shrugged "Well good for her then" Wesley replied
"Our focus now should be on Glassware and getting back your girlfriend," Wesley added and Andrew nodded lowly.
He really wants his girl back.
"When last did you get in contact with her? Have you spoken to her since that day?" He asked.
Andrew breathed out heavily before saying, "I haven't spoken to her since that day. I've not been able to cause she won't pick up my calls."
"You tried tracking her line..?" Wesley asked
"Yes but got nothing," Andrew sighed.
Following that was silence between the two men.
"Report to the police. Your girl is definitely being held hostage by some goons."
"I'll get my men to check on the location they were able to track that cyborg so far. I'm suspecting these nuisances are the same people but let's get back to Sarah. And as for her phone, keep tracking it. Let me know if you suddenly get a signal but don't just jump to conclusions yet. They might be trying to manipulate things."
When Wesley was done speaking, he leaned into his chair and pushed his plate forward.
Andrew gazed at him for a while then shrugged, "There's little to nothing the police do most of the time."
"Well well, at least we would get to have a police case first and they would not keep on reminding me how I take laws into my hands all the time," Wesley countered.
"I'd also remind them of how slow they are."
Andrew chuckled at that.
He really wants to see Sarah again and have her be with him. All she needs to do is just stay with him.
As for Daisy, he still found it surprising that Wesley had dropped her case, till she talks to him...
