Chapter 32: Chapter 32
"Good afternoon Director Carlson," Cindy greeted with a shaky voice.
"Yeah, good afternoon Cindy. Are you alright?"
"Rose just got into an accident. I'm at the hospital right now so I will send the address to you after the call."
When Carlson heard the news from the other end was stunned.
'Rose had an accident?'
"How? What happened? We still spoke about Daisy this morning and she even got into a fight with me. How is that?" Carlson was so shocked and bewildered that he asked so many questions at the same time.
"I don't know," Cindy sniffed and Carlson heard her do that.
Her voice was so low and aggrieved as she continued saying, "She was run into by a motorcycle and they were both brought to this hospital. I mean Rose and the cyclist. If not, I would haunt him down and have him pay for what he did to Rose."
"Even still, I'll still make sure he pays," she added through gritted teeth.
Her other hand which was not holding the phone was clenched tightly into a fist and even her veins were bulging.
Carlson was silent for a while and after a few moments he said, "Send the hospital's address to me Cindy. Just take it easy and don't do anything rash. Wait for me till I come."
Following that, the call dropped.
Once the call had ended, Cindy brought the phone from her ear and smirked. There was a spark in her glossy eyes, which had to turn a little bit teary due to the intensity of her acting.
She really did deserve an award as she had acted so perfectly.
What is she an actress for after all?
Cindy chuckled then sniffed slightly, while she tried to blink back the little tears that had sipped to her eyes.
"I can't believe my eyes got a little teary cause of this bitch that won't mind her business," she scoffed before putting down her phone.
Suddenly, she remembered she had tried calling Daisy before she called Carlson, but she was not able to get Daisy.
With her eyebrows furrowed slightly, she muttered, "What's up girlie? Are you still sleeping until death? I thought you would at least live a little bit longer."
Suddenly she rolled her eyes, "was I not supposed to call Richard in the first place? At least, he will definitely be with her by now and would know how she's faring."
With that, she searched for his number and dialled it, then waited for the call to connect.
Somewhere in one of the beautiful mansions in South Yarra, a family doctor had been invited over and was checking on Daisy, carrying out a series of tests.
He seemed a little bit tensed but Louis did not seem to notice that as all his focus was on his daughter.
When he was done taking a few samples of blood and recording some things, he began to park his equipment in a bag.
Louis finally took his gaze from his daughter and looked at the doctor questioningly.
"Is she fine? What's wrong with her?" Louis asked anxiously as he waited impatiently for the doctor's reply.
"Actually, she just needs a little more rest," not looking up at Louis as he solely focused on packing up his stuff.
"She's suffering more from emotional and mental pains and I recommend she sees a therapist once she gets better in a few days. But asides from that, I'll send over some pain relievers. For now, just let her rest."
When the doctor was done speaking, he finally looked up at Louis who was staring at him intently.
Louis breathing out a sigh of relief rose to his feet before stretching out his hand for a handshake.
"Thanks so much, doctor," Louis was sincerely grateful and he felt more at rest.
The doctor took his hand and while they shook hands, he smile wryly. The doctor was having so much inside that he can't say and it was putting him in a dilemma. He felt so guilty not saying the truth but what can he do?
He had been threatened with his family and his secret unfaithfulness with his wife on his way here and now, they had made him deceive Louis into believing nothing is wrong with Daisy when she actually has deadly toxins running in her bloodstream.
He felt helpless. After all, Louis has been his friend from way back, but then, he has to protect his own marriage and family.
"I'll get the pills over by evening," the doctor said as they withdrew their handshake.
"And yea..., I'll be on my way back now."
"I'll see you off," Louis immediately said as he began to walk him towards the door. Soon they both walked out of the door and out of the room leaving Daisy all alone in her room.
The coffee shop now had a new set of people while Andrew still remain seated at the table he had earlier shared with Sarah.
Even as that, none of the attendants came to disturb him or ask why he was sitting all alone for so long. About thirty minutes ago, a very beautiful red-haired biracial lady had confidently walked up to him, thinking she could sit with him and keep his company, but Andrew had politely told her to leave and that he wanted to be alone.
She had no choice but to, even though she was slightly embarrassed. After all, she had so much confidence in herself and her beauty that she believed no man could resist her and that every man would always fall for her looks at first sight.
But not for Andrew who has been smitten by Sarah.
After a while, he got up and decided to leave the coffee shop. He literally spent about two hours there and even it was way past break hour now.
Stepping out of the shop, Andrew began to walk down the busy road.
He knew he was being followed. In fact, he knew right from the time that Wesley had one or two Croxxed X members keep tabs and watch over him. Not like he was bothered about them following him so he just went on his way.
Sitting in the shop for two hours, many things had run through his mind. A lot of thoughts coupled with pain and they were all centred on getting back his woman.
Even if they were to ever break up, then not this kind type of breakup. He strongly believed there are many things wrong, and even if it's not he will solve every problem.
Even if they were to break up for real, he wanted closure.
Andrew suddenly walked into a barbecue shop, took a sit then brought out his phone and dialled a particular number.
When the call went through, a certain familiar voice rang out from the other end while panting slightly like he was in the gym working out.
"Who's this?"
"Let's meet," Andrew stated bluntly.
The person on the other end was stunned for seconds before he said, "I don't know you. Why should I meet you?"
"I'm Andrew," Andrew replied curtly. "And my surname is none of your business."
Edwards's eyes widened in surprise and he could not believe the audacity of this stranger's rude caller.
"I'm cutting the call right now, okay?" Edward scoffed and was going to put down his phone when he heard Andrew say, "Mark Edward, we are going to meet right now. Why? Because your ex-girlfriend might be a nuisance."
When Edward heard this, he was so shocked that his eyes widened more, almost bulging out of its socket.
"Who the fuck are you? You have no evidence for your claim!"
Andrew chuckled and said, "How about you wait till I send the evidence if you think I don't have it to the media? Then things turn around when the netizens believe Daisy probably got drunk and ended up cheating on you because you found out you have a girlfriend somewhere. Then the whole story turns around.
"Wait," Edward blurted out as fear gripped him. "Where do you want us to meet?"
"I'll send an address to you," Andrew answered lazily and following that, he terminated the call, cutting off Edward who now looked exasperated and was beginning to look nervous and panicky.
'Who is this stranger that knows about my little secret?'
Back in the hospital where Rose was admitted, along the corridor was a middle-aged man on nose masks and eyeglasses facing a nurse.
"The hair and a syringe containing the blood you asked for are in there," she said to him as she handed him the paper bag. "You watched me take her hair and draw out the blood, so yeah, they are Rose's," she added.
The middle-aged man took the bag from her while looking at her gratefully, "Thank you very much."
Following that, the nurse turned and walked away while the middle-aged man walked out of the hospital. He walked towards his car, pulled the door open and got in.
After locking the doors and dropping the paper bag by his side, the man who looked middle-aged took off his mask and his glasses and tore out a thin sheet from his face to reveal a fresh young face.
He was indeed a young man who had gone to the hospital in disguise as a middle-aged man, claiming to a nurse that he suspects Rose to be his biological daughter and that he needed to do a DNA.
The nurse initially claimed they could carry out the DNA right there in the hospital, but after offering her some amount of money, she immediately proceeded to give him what he asked for.
The man soon brought out his phone and called Wesley and once the call went through, he said into the phone, "I got the stuff, sir."
"Bring them over," Wesley calmly replied.
