Chapter 21: Chapter 21
Wesley fixed his custom-made silver wristwatch on his wrists as he stared at his reflection in the mirror. He had his jet-black hair combed backwards exposing his forehead and making him look extremely handsome and mature. That’s how normally has his hair styled.
Clad in navy blue pant trousers with a white shirt and a tie, he looked just like the handsome CEO that he is.
After putting on his wristwatch, he glanced at it to see it was almost 7:30 already.
He has to get to work and he seems to be running out of time already but even still, he did not show any sign of anxiety.
He is the CEO and chairman of Maxwell cooperation so what is there to be anxious about?
Not like he goes late or does not take his work seriously, he is known to be both hardworking and intelligent. One who doesn’t take his work lightly.
Taking one last look at his reflection, Wesley slightly brushed his hair with his palm before going over to the couch to pick up his suit jacket. Placing it over his left arm, he walked out of the room.
He took a turn to the dining on the same floor to see Andrew sitting at the table and busy with his phone. He had ordered breakfast and was waiting for Wesley so they could leave for the company together.
Wesley got to the table and cleared his throat making Andrew raise his head from his phone to look at him.
“Good morning,” the latter greeted then with slightly raised brows, he said “be fast, we’re running out of time. It’s almost 7:30.”
When he said that, Wesley shot him a look, clearly flustered. “I never asked you to wait for me,” he scoffed. “You should leave right away.”
Andrew smiled but said nothing and just went on with his game even though he kept on losing.
As Wesley opened the food on the table to start digging, he glanced at Andrew who was sitting across from him on the table and said, “don’t even think of following me back here tonight.”
Andrew chuckled in response and with his eyes still fixed on his phone, he said, “I would if I want to.”
But next, he looked up in surprise. “You’re coming back here?” he asked. “Why?” He knew his boss would rather go to his Villa at Coasters’ Retreat. So he could not help but wonder why he would leave his company at Coasters and come to South Yarra.
“Just get me the contact info of Finn’s media director that I asked for and start your investigation on Tigera. And you won’t dare follow me back. I’m not into men.”
Andrew could not help but burst out laughing at his boss’ last words.
In the end, he kept on teasing his boss and said, “as if you wouldn’t need me to come over. Anyways, I’m not Wesley Maxwell, and neither am I, James Johnson nor Josh. I’ll just go home and have a good night’s sleep.”
Wesley was exasperated and he really wish he could fling the plate on the table at him, but anyways, he gritted his teeth and muttered under his breath, “I need a new assistant.”
Andrew heard and laughed instead.
The next few minutes were silent and only the sound of cutleries against the ceramic plate could be heard. Andrew had his head lowered, seeming like he was busy with his phone and as Wesley ate, he could not help taking glances at Andrew.
Even though the latter had just talked and laughed with him, he thought he was a little absentminded and Wesley could not help but wonder what is on his mind.
Wesley finished eating and began putting the plates together, including the one Andrew had used, but the latter still had his head lowered.
His housekeeper would come over to clean the house so he was going to leave the plates on the table. Wesley stood up and picked up the coat that he hung on the head of the dining chair but Andrew still had his head lowered, like he was lost in thoughts.
Wesley was now sure something is wrong with him seeing he had even zoned out just minutes after chit-chatting.
“Andrew?” he called with his brows furrowed but his call went unanswered.
With a slightly worried expression, he tapped two fingers on the glass table and Andrew suddenly shuddered before raising up his head.
He looked up at Wesley who narrowed his eyes at him.
“What’s up with you?” Wesley asked worriedly.
Andrew who was about to use a smile to cover up his absent-mindedness suddenly froze. Seeing he was caught, he breathed out a sigh.
“You're done?” he asked instead, glancing at the plates that had been put together then he also rose to his feet. “Let’s go then?”
“But I asked you a question,” Wesley glared at him not taking a step forward. “What’s up with you?”
Andrew stared at Wesley before his shoulders slumped dejectedly.
“Sarah? What’s wrong with her? You still haven’t been able to reach her?” Wesley could not help but ask.
As far as he knew Andrew, Sarah is literarily the only person that can make Andrew this down and absent-minded.
Andrew cleared his throat and said wearily, “yeah actually. I mean, it’s been days now and I can’t get through to her. I don’t even know where she is nor why she’s doing this to me. Now I don’t even want her to join the entertainment industry. I mean all these started when she decided to join. What would happen when she finally joins? I honestly don’t feel too good about that entertainment cycle and all.”
Wesley just stood on the spot as he stared at Andrew, not knowing what to say or how to console him.
Andrew glanced at his wristwatch and when he saw it was fifteen minutes to eight already, he looked up at his boss.
“Let’s leave now. We’re running late. We can talk some other time.”
Wesley heaved a sigh, nodded then began walking towards the stairs with Andrew following closely behind. Soon, they got to the ground floor and walked out of the mansion.
Andrew already kept their bags in the car so they did not have to carry anything out.
As they got closer to the garage, Wesley suddenly remembered something so he glanced over his shoulder as he asked, “last night, you said you find one of those actresses rather suspicious, who?”
“Rose Johnson,” Andrew answered.
“Why?”
“Many reasons,” Andrew sighed.
“I honestly don’t want my Sarah around that lady.
Wesley isn’t one who is interested in the affairs in the entertainment industry, but seeing it had to do with his brother’s woman, he decided he would instruct his men to find out where Sarah is and carry out some investigations on Rose Johnson.
He did not know why Andrew kept saying he found her suspicious, but since he had said that, then she is suspicious.
