Chapter 17: Chapter 17

As Daisy and Rose stood in the hallway close to the stairway, Rose suddenly said, “when this is all over, I would introduce you to someone. She’s an actress and would be joining Finn’s media soon. Her name is Sarah”

Daisy smiled genuinely and nodded. “I can’t wait to see her,” she said. She believed anyone from Rose would definitely be a good person as Rose is like the best person she has ever met in her life.

Wesley stared at Josh with dark eyes, his face devoid of any emotion whatsoever. He had no pity and he would torture him till he spilled out everything he wanted to hear.

“You said you will talk…” Wesley drawled lazily as he took the huge needle from who went to get it. The other already pulled down his pants and Josh looked horrified. As Wesley’s gloved hands took hold of the band of his boxers, Josh immediately yelled frantically.

“Yes. James Johnson actually sent me. He did send me. But I never expected the actress to fall into such a trap. I made the video that way because I’ve always been bitter. I’ve always hated her. I’ve always hated her and Edward,” he stated bashfully.

Wesley was still not convinced. So acting like he didn’t even hear what he said, he pulled on his boxers and Josh’s eyes widened in fright.

“You have to believe me. You really have to!”

He panicked as he stared bashfully at the life-threatening needle Wesley had brought closer to him. Wesley looked up at him unbothered. “You weren’t the one that released that video. I know that already. Who was the lady you met in the private room?”

“I don’t know her,” he answered immediately with wide eyes. He had so much fear in his eyes that Wesley failed to detect he was actually lying. What’s more, Andrew already showed him footage of the lady in black clothes with a mask on.

Wesley stood straight with his cold eyes still fixed on him. “In short, you’re saying that James Johnson gave you an assignment, but your hatred for Daisy made you do something else.”

“Yes,” Josh nodded fearfully. “And that was cause she got the wrong room. If I’m guessing rightly, the lady on a mask probably planned to set her up with someone else but Daisy entered your room instead.”

Wesley scoffed when he heard that. ‘So some random man would have slept with her if she hadn’t entered his room? It’s more like he saved her but she actually still had the guts to act that way this morning?’

Wesley has no interest in knowing why Josh hates Daisy as that is none of his business. His business is to get to the root of the matter. As far as he is concerned, he is very well sure he was the target last night and Daisy just so happened to be caught in it. Now he has James Johnson to deal with and yes, he has Daisy to deal with too.

Wesley sized him up for seconds before he retreated. He then handed the needle back to the person who brought it over. He had let go of his boxers, and at least to some extent, he got the clarification he wanted.

“Where is your phone?” Wesley suddenly asked him and he shook his head bashfully. “I don’t know,” he answered.

He nodded then threw a look at one of his men to untie him. But just as he was being untied, Wesley threw a bad punch on his face and he coughed out a mouthful of blood. And immediately the rope around him loosened, and he fell to the ground miserably.

“That is for acting stubborn and not spilling out from the start. You should have just saved us all the stress,” Wesley said cruelly before walking out of the warehouse with Andrew immediately following closely behind him.

All along, Andrew just watched where he stood, observing and analyzing the whole situation. He seemed to have his own plans and he seemed to suddenly see things differently. He is capable after all.

It was late already and Wesley couldn’t wait to get back home and get back to work. As a business person, he is one who is always busy.

Daisy and Rose sat on the grass in front of the house watching the stars. The stars had come out in their numbers illuminating the night and giving the dark sky a very beautiful view. It was so beautiful and captivating that Daisy temporarily forgot her problems and fears. Unknown to her that there was a sudden ruckus online as there was suddenly an increase in the number of people bashing and defaming Daisy online. Probably she would remember this moment of sky gazing for a long time as it would probably be her last peaceful moment.

Rose had suggested they leave their phone inside for this moment so they had no idea there were tons of messages and missed calls from people. Even Director Carlson had called countless times and dropped a message that he would no longer be helping them out with any apology article. Things had gone extremely bad and down the drain. Daisy’s reputation had totally gone down the drain and it would be stupid to try to help her at this point. The only way to save the industry is to announce her dismissal and get her blacklisted. That way, they would be proving they aren’t in support of filthiness or unhealthy behaviour regardless of who it is.

The hired internet ghostwriters were really doing a terrific work and they had succeeded in ruining things for the young actress.

Suddenly, a car’s headlight flashed on them as it sped toward them. Rose rose to her feet immediately while Daisy sat on the grass transfixed. The car was a few feet away from them and it had not even parked properly when Cindy jumped out barefooted. She ran towards them and her bodyguard followed immediately after her.

The car headlights were turned off and the environs once again went dark, with just the little light coming from the stars. But despite that, Daisy could see Cindy’s eyes which were red and heavy with tears.

“Where did you guys put your phones? Just where?” She shouted angrily at them.

Rose stared in a daze while Daisy looked up at Cindy, tears gathering in her eyes. She needed no soothsayer to tell her things had crashed. This was the end.

“It’s terrible now right? Isn’t it?” Daisy asked with a shaky voice and Cindy stared at her fighting hard to hold back her tears. It could be said that Cindy has great acting skills. She could act so overwhelmed by a situation she threw her friend in. Next, she burst into tears and Daisy couldn’t control her tears anymore. They streamed down her face uncontrollably.

‘Is this the end?’
