Chapter 81: Chapter 81

Ava's POV

I stood beside the river that was my one place of solace when I was still in the pack house. I stood there feeling weak and crying my eyes out. In just a space of two days,I've been thrown out of the blood moon's house and out of Skye's life and now,I've lost my leadership as the alpha of the pack. My mind was blank and empty. I didn't even get to tell Skye I loved him and I couldn't put the pieces of this puzzle together. This wasn't me. Where was the tough Ava I knew who took no nonsense from anyone?

Gone. I answered my questions myself.

"You can't just leave." I heard uncle's voice behind me.

I wiped my eyes. "I can't marry him either." I said.

"Ava," uncle began in that convincing tone of his. I shook my head. "No, uncle. I cannot be wife to that beast who doesn't have the conscience of his pack's safety in his heart." I said to him. Besides,my heart belonged to another despite the ordeal I was facing.

He stood there for a few minutes. "I'll like to be left alone." I said to him and he nodded and walked away. I hugged myself as I sat on the bench crying.

"Ava," I heard a familiar voice behind me and I raised my head. Robin stood behind me and emotions were written all over his face.

"What are you doing here?" I asked as I wiped my tears sniffing.

"This is not good for the baby." He said in a breaking voice. "You're stressing out." He said.

"What do you expect me to do? Skye threw me out of his house without blinking twice and now I've lost the leadership of my pack to an old friend who's actually an enemy." I said and the tears fell afresh again.

He stretched an handkerchief to me and I reluctantly took it. "Your uncle just told me. But you have to be strong. You need to be strong for your baby." He said.

I shook my head. "I'm afraid I'll perish soon. I'm breaking apart Robin." I confessed to him.

He bent down on his knees. "The bastard even asked me to marry him if I want to remain in the pack. Such audacity." I said with a little anger.

"Then come with me." He said.

"What?" I asked him in bafflement.

"You can't be out here in the woods. I can't risk my godchild bitten by mosquitoes or his life endangered." He said.

"I can't come with you Robin. If Skye finds out you're even here, you'd be banished from your pack and I do not want that happening to you for my sake." I said.

He shook his head. "Skye cannot turn his back on his child for something you didn't even do." He said.

"My mother didn't do it." I said in defiance.

He nodded. "I believe so." He said.

"Why are you helping me?" I asked him. He held my hand. "I've discovered you are pure of heart and your intentions for Skye are pure and true. I doubted you,all I believed was you wanted to ruin the love in the blood moon house because of your mother's murder but now I know otherwise." He said.

I raised a brow. "Or you're doing this because Camila is no longer in the pack house." I asked suspiciously. His face went beet red and he chuckled lightly. "That's not the point here. Would you come with me?" He asked.

"Do I have a choice?" I asked sighing.

Robin's POV

Ava agreed to return to the pack house with me alongside Camila. She insisted to take Luna and her brother along for fear that Fernandez would use them to torture and get back to her if he finds out her attachment to Luna and I agreed.

We got to the pack house and Skye was standing in front of the house when I alighted from the car. "Where have you been?" He demanded.

"I've been where you should be doing the right thing." I said to him.

Ava alighted from the car and I watch both of them stare at each other. It was obvious there was still love between them. "You brought her here?" Skye demanded looking at me in anger. "Yes I did and.." I began but he cut me short. "You're hereby banished from the pack." He said without thinking twice. Ava and I stared at him in horror.

"Are you really going to banish me Skye? After everything we've been through?" I asked him.

"Don't try to blackmail me emotionally, Robin. I made a very clear declaration two days ago. I want you to take her back from where you picked her up or else I stamp my word by banishing you." He said callously.

Ava turned to walk away but I stopped her and turned to Skye. "How cruel would you continue to be to the mother of your child. You're treating her like a piece of rag. She lost her leadership today and as if that's not enough, you're throwing her out too?" I said to him and for a moment I saw emotions flicker in his eyes and he immediately masked it.

"We've cut ties and it remains that way. I want her out of this territory now." He said and turned to walk away.

"If I had knew this was how we'd turn out,I won't have fallen in love with you." Ava finally said in a non quivering voice and Skye stopped and for a few seconds he said nothing as her words made an impact on him.

"That makes two of us then." He finally said as he turned to look at her.

"I'm the mother of your child for crying out loud." She said.

"You're also the daughter of my mother's murderer." He retorted.

"And you're the son of my mother's murderer. That makes two of us." She said and he kept quiet and turned to leave. "I've lost my pack and now I'm running to you and you're throwing me out?" She questioned him. He paused and turned back to her. "I should have buried my sword in your black heart when I had the chance." She said.

"Why don't you do it now? At least save both of us the torture of living and breathing the same air." He said. I knew he wanted to agree to her staying but his ego wasn't letting him.

"If I leave this house and return to the woods and I die with this baby in me,you'd never find peace that I tell you." She said.

He stared at her. "You're a fighter. You can endure." He said. What a fool! I wanted to yell at him. "So be it then." Ava said and turned away. "Camila," she said calling out to Camila and she stepped down. "Bring Luna and Lucas out. Turns out I'd get married to Fernandez just to stay in the pack." She said.

"No, Ava, don't do it." I said to her but she declined. She held Luna's hand and together, they all turned to walk away.

"Stop." I heard Skye's voice. I was surprised but yet glad he stopped her. She turned back to look at him and their eyes met. "You can stay. I'm only letting you stay because of my baby, nothing more." He said and with one long lasting look at her,he walked away. Looking towards the window,I saw someone quickly drop the curtains. Someone was watching us.
