Chapter 79: Chapter 79
Ava's POV
I explained everything to uncle as we got into the pack house and he was speechless and anger was written all over him. "He threw you out despite you being pregnant for him?" He asked and I nodded as the tears fell afresh again.
"The jerk. I shouldn't have trusted him from the beginning. You married him even knowing his father killed your mother and here he is raising a fuss about a similar thing." He said.
I sniffed. "I never knew that was the reason his father waged war against us," I said.
"Neither did I. He never said the reason why. That was the night we lost most of the pack." He said.
"I know mother is innocent. She'd never do such a thing to anyone." I said sobbing again and uncle placed my head on his thighs as he stroked my hair.
"Believe me, I know that too." He said.
Later in the night, I cried myself profusely to sleep. I couldn't stop thinking of the accusations and the hatred I saw in his eyes. Eyes that once looked at me with love and passion, now look at me with anger, bitterness, and hatred. I couldn't bear the torture of it.

I woke up with a rapid banging on the door which also affected my head as I opened my eyes feeling a sharp pain at one side of my head. It was pounding and hurting a lot. "Who's it?" I asked groggily.
"It's me, Camila, come out quickly." She said and I panicked at the urgency of her voice as I got off the bed and walked briskly to the door. "What is it, Camila?" I asked her as soon as I opened the door.
"It's Fernandez. He's causing a ruckus outside the pack house." She said in a panicked voice.
"What?" I exclaimed in shock. I haven't seen Fernandez since the battle with my father. I figured out he was too ashamed of what he did and left the pack house.
"Where's uncle?" I asked her as I held my baby bump and rushed down the stairs.
"He's out there with the elders." She said.
We got outside the pack house and Fernandez stood with a smirk on his face in front of the pack house. Uncle stood beside the elders and a few of the pack drew out their swords. "My queen." He said with a mocking bow. Something about him was different and bad. His aura was something I couldn't fathom despite it feeling so familiar, I still couldn't place my hands on it.
"What is all this about Fernandez?" I asked him and he smiled. "I see you're pregnant." He said staring hard at my baby bump. I placed my hand on my stomach. "That isn't the answer to my question," I said.
"Can't I say hello to my long time friend anymore? Is this how to welcome your best friend? What a shame." He said shaking his head in a very pretentious way.
"What a shame indeed Fernandez. Just in case you bumped your head somewhere, let me refresh your memory. We cut ties the moment you decided to be a murderer." I said to him.
He chuckled as he nodded. "How can I forget? I'm the only villain in this story." He said.
"State your mission here Fernandez otherwise take your leave," I said. I wondered why he was here. First, it was Natasha, and now him. My gut feeling told me his visit was trouble.
"That's no way to speak to your future king." He said and I stared at him puzzled.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" I demanded.
He smirked as he did a weird dance with his fingers and then straightened up. "I'm interested in the position of the alpha and I want you to step down." He said.
"What?" I exclaimed in astonishment as everyone gasped.
Skye's POV
I woke up and for a moment reached through the bed for Ava till the events of yesterday hit me hard on the face and I got to a sitting position as I felt a migraine in my head. I shut my eyes tight as I tried to get rid of the memory but it wouldn't leave. Why did everything have to be this way?
Stop it, Skye, forget about Ava, she's your past now. I said to myself.
'And the baby?' Eros asked me.
'I'll take my baby once she delivers' I said to him.
'How cruel can you be Skye? You both share the same fate. Each of you parents is a murderer of the other. Why can't you let go?' He asked me and I yelled at him. 'This is different Eros. You should be in this with me' I said.
"There's no way I'll support you in this' he said.
"Suit yourself," I said out loud as I got off the bed.
'Sometimes I wish we didn't share each other's bodies or minds' he said which annoyed me.
'Then get yourself a better human body if you think me unworthy' I said in anger as I slammed the bathroom door. He retreated and refused to talk to me which I was glad about.

I walked down the stairs and saw Natasha, her hands in her back pocket as she casually paraded the living room. "What are you doing here?" I asked her in a gruff voice.
She stared at me with a little shock and quickly masked it with a smiling expression. "I was thinking.." She began but I cut her short as I reached the living room. "Do not for a second think I'll let your mistake slide because you revealed the truth about my mother's murderer. You're still an outcast." I said to her firmly.
She sighed. "I know Skye. I'm not here to plead with you to accept me back in the pack. I'm just grateful you did what's right by doing justice for our late queen."
"That isn't justice compared to what I had in mind while I was still very young," I said to her. As a teenager, all I had in mind was to kill my mother's murderer but after finding out the murderer was already killed by my father, my little way of having vengeance was taking it out on her daughter despite her having my child. Leaving her was better than murdering her and my unborn baby. I wasn't that callous.
She nodded. "I understand you, Skye. I just want to say if you ever need a friend, I'll be here for you." She said and turned to walk away.
"What changed?" I asked her and she stopped in her tracks and turned back to me. "I broke your heart, threw you out of my life, and trampled on years of friendship rendering it into dust and I banished you from a home you've known all your life. Why are you suddenly helping and being nice to me again?" I asked her.
She moved closer to me. "I was embittered when you threw me out of the pack and rendered our friendship and relationship to dust but I couldn't hold back when I got the opportunity to find out about the death of your mother," she said and placed her hand on my chest. "You're not just a lover then Skye. You were my friend and you still are. I'll be here whenever you need me and that's the truth." She said and turned to walk away again.
"Where would you go from here?" I asked her. She turned back with a bright yet sad smile. "Back to the woods. Just roaming the forest." She said and turned away again. She reached the door and I found myself saying. "Stay."
