Chapter 78: Chapter 78
Ava's POV
I stared at Natasha who had a nasty smile on her face. "What nonsense utterance are you spitting out?" I asked her.
"Once Skye is out, you'd know." She said with that irksome smile on her face.
Skye emerged from the study room and his expression was one I'd never seen before. The moment he stepped out, I knew everything was wrong. Natasha's presence alone was wrong.
I moved closer to him but he stopped me with a finger raised in front of him without a word. "Don't tell me you believe the lies she's saying?" I asked him in perplexity.
"What do you want me to believe uh?" He asked in pent-up anger. "Everything she said is written in father's journal and father doesn't lie." He said, his eyes flaming.
I shook my head. "It can't be true. How did she know about this? How did she know he wrote it in his journal?" I questioned as I felt hotness running through my veins. I was weak and agitated by the accusation and the fact that he was gullible about it.
"Father's handwriting is rare and cannot be manipulated. He's the only one with such expert writings in this town. Natasha doesn't have the power to manipulate his writings neither does she know he has a journal. No one knows that except me." He said and I could see he was trying not to burst out his anger.
"That how does she know that he has a journal? How.."
"I don't care!" He yelled interrupting me. I trembled at the sound of his voice. This was a different version of him I was seeing. I've seen him get angry a couple of times but this was really different. "The truth is your mother murdered my mother and I swore to avenge on the person that murdered my mother." He said, his eyes burning with hatred and tears welling up in my eyes.
"It's not true. My mother would never do something like that." I said. "Natasha is being manipulative. Why is she suddenly here if she doesn't have a hand in this?" I asked.
"I met a soothsayer who told me the truth about Skye's mother's death. I wanted to do one last favor by exposing the daughter of who you are." She said.
"You want proof?" He demanded. "You want proof?!" He repeated in anger."Yes, I want proof!" I yelled back as tears choked my voice.
"Anna!" He yelled and she walked out of the gathering in fear. "I want you to find out if Natasha is lying to me." He said in a very condescending manner.
Anna took hold of Natasha's hands into her quavering ones and closed her eyes muttering. A few minutes later, she let go of Natasha's hands and I prayed to God this was another lie that would be exposed.
"She has no hand in this," she said and I stared at her in horror. "She said no lie when she said she met a soothsayer who told her about the journal. Natasha has no hand in this." She said and everyone gasped and I could see they felt betrayed after I earned their trust.
"Seen it for yourself now uh?" He asked me and the hatred formed in his eyes flamed. The tears dropped. "It's not true," I said to him. How could he believe her? "You heard it from Anna yourself and you still think otherwise?" He asked in anger. " Look here," he said showing me his father's journal. Walking closer to me, he turned the pages over. "Every handwriting is the same, no mistakes." He said viciously.
I straightened myself and stood tall. "Even if this accusation was true, what about you uh? I married you despite knowing you're the son of my mother's murderer. If I did marry you what is different about this situation?" I questioned him and he stared hard at me.
"That's because Skye swore on his mother's grave that he'd avenge her death and you turn out to be the daughter of the murderer. Skye never goes back on his word" Natasha said without me asking her.
"Oh shut up you bloody bitch and I did not swear on avenging my mother's death right?" I asked her in annoyance.
"You better watch it or.."
"Enough!" Skye's voice thundered through the hall and a cold shiver went down my spine. I turned to look at him and all I saw was nothing to detest me.
"This marriage has been nothing but an honest mistake," he said and I felt my heart rip apart. "And falling in love with you was an additional mistake." He said and the tears I held back fell. Here I was falling in love with someone who thought loving me was a mistake.
"I want you out of the pack house, never to return. You're forbidden from stepping your feet into the blood moon's territory." He declared and I stared at him in shock. "Anyone who has anything to do with Ava White or any of the crescents would be banished from the pack." He declared openly. "I've spoken." He said and turned to walk away.
"Skye!" I screamed his name out. He paused and slowly turned back, bitterness, pain, and anger were written all over him. "You can't do this to me," I said to him amidst tears.
"I believe this is better than hanging you." He said and turned to leave again.
"How can you be so brutal?" I asked and he paused again and without looking back walked away. "Despite me being the mother of your child," I muttered weakly as I crumbled to the floor, sobbing out loud.
Skye's POV
"Aargh!" I groaned in frustration and anger as I sent everything flying away from the table. I didn't want to believe it, I wanted it to be a nightmare I was going to wake up from but it felt real with each passing minute. I sent the vase flying toward the mirror and it shattered into tiny bits.
Why did everything have to get ruined when things were getting good between us? I threw my frustration out on everything in front of me and I ended up hurting my hands. Robin walked into the study room holding me. "What has gotten into you mate?" He asked me in anger.
"Let go of me!" I yelled at him as I pushed him off but he wouldn't stop as he held me tighter. I crumbled to the floor and for the second time in my whole life, I was crying for a woman. The same woman I cried for all over again.
"Get a grip on yourself, Skye. If it was going to hurt you so much why make the decision?" He asked me.
"I want to be left alone!" I yelled in his head.
"Not in this condition am I leaving you." He said firmly as he stared at me. I couldn't see him. All I saw were piercing silvery eyes hovering in front of me.
Ava's POV
Tears dropped from my eyes every time I remembered his cruel words as Camila trailed behind me. I was devastated and didn't know what to do anymore. For a fact, I knew Skye now hated me just like I did at the beginning of our marriage. I knew mother couldn't do such a thing. She was too loving and innocent to harm anyone. I haven't even seen anyone as righteous as she was.
"Why are we leaving?" Luna asked, her hand in mine. "We're just going to see uncle and the rest of the pack," I said to her.
"But I heard the alpha yelling at you." She said and I broke into tears again. Camila took her from my hand. "Don't question the alpha anymore okay?" She said and Luna nodded and kept quiet.
On our walk home, Camila would occasionally put her hand on my shoulder for comfort and I nod promising not to cry again.
Arriving at the crescents woods and seeing uncle, the tears fell again as I ran into his arms sobbing uncontrollably. He held me in puzzlement and said nothing despite having a lot of questions for me. He held me, consoling me as I let out all the tears that tightened in my chest.
