Chapter 62: Chapter 62

Ava's POV

I finally took the right decision and chose my people over my father. The moon rose high in the sky, a shiny crystal light. People who had come out in support of the battle stood before me, the crescents, and the blood moon pack. The blood stood separately from each other.

Fernandez was there too. He was one of the pack's best warriors and I had to secure his release to help in the fight before I took the decision I had for him.

The sky turned to a color of pitch black and the full moon suddenly turned to blood, a deep crimson red. I had finally let go of my father's manipulation. I could still sense Skye was a little angry at me and at this moment I didn't care. I was going to finally become the orphan I had thought myself to be and honestly, it still hurts but I had no choice. I have to do what's right.

I stood before all the packs. The nightwalkers had a look of kill ready in their eyes. The battle wasn't going to be easy that I was sure of. After discovering the rogues were accomplices or rather minions of father, the battle will prove to be difficult.

"Today, we fight a common enemy. An enemy of ancient times that will bring destruction to both mankind and the supernatural," I began to address them. "And as that, we shall stand united to accomplish this aim of ours. Hatred, rage, anger for us others should be kept aside as we join forces to fight the demon king." I said directing my speech to the blood moon pack and the crescents who stared aloofly at me.

"Today, everyone shall have each other's backs. Be your brother's keeper. Let us forget the centuries of hatred among us and stand united to achieve this common goal." I said and I watched them stare at each other and one was bold from the crescent and stepped forward and another from the blood moon and slowly they fill the gap between them.

I walked into their midst and raised my sword up in the air. "Together, we stand united!" I said and they raised their swords in harmony. "United we stand!" They chanted.

I felt warmth creep into my heart and I took a look over at where Skye was standing, his eyes were glued on me. I could see a twinkle in his eyes even though his face refused to radiate or his lips refused to move with the smile in his eyes. I looked away from him. I felt I had accomplished one goal at least. Next was my father.

Everyone was aligned in their position and hiding in every corner of the woods where father was to hide from the blood moon that causes his weakness. I was the only one who came out to meet with him.

"I see you've come out alone." I heard his voice behind me. I turned sharply and there he was standing a few feet away from me. He was in a disheveled state.

"Brought me the impure wolves?" He questioned. I stared at him and for a moment was disgusted that he was my father.

"I will never betray my kind," I said.

He narrowed his eyes at me. "You're also my kind Ava, a part serpent and you're just like me." He said.

"I am not like you father and would never be like you," I said through gritted teeth.

"You have the demon aura in you." He said.

"Which I believe you was your initial plan by rubbing your demon qualities on me," I said and he gave a small smile. "It is the blood moon tonight Ava, it's either you become a devil today or you're free from it. The chances of the latter happening are very slim." He said coming closer to me.

I drew out my sword, moving my feet in a circling manner. "Let me worry about that father. You worry about yourself. It's either you or I who won't live to see the next dawn." I said to him.

"It doesn't have to be this way Ava," he said moving in circles too. "You're my daughter, you won't want to hurt your father now would you?" He asked so innocently.

"The daughter you've been manipulating and trying to kill?" I asked him in scorn.

"I gave you a chance!" He yelled out.

"By coming up with an absurd proposal? Haven't you lived enough!" I asked him, raising my voice.

"You want to have me killed?" He asked circling me. I head the hilt of my sword steadfast. "If that's what it takes to be free, then yes," I said to him, and suddenly out of nowhere, rogue wolves circled us. Father smirked as he twisted the ring on his finger.

"I had an idea you might not succumb to my wish." He said. I chuckled. "You're not the only one who can plan an ambush," I said and with that, I whistled and the three packs from my side surrounded them.

He had a look of surprise on his face. "Turns out I might have something in common with you," I said. "Now!" I yelled and rushed towards him. It was a signal for the packs to attack which they did. He sent a blast of wind my way and I dodged it.

"I'm trying to go easy on you daughter!" Father yelled at me.

"Why don't you give me your best shot let's see if I can handle it!" I yelled back, swinging my sword at him.

He tripled the blast of wind and I tried my best to avoid it. I finally got close to him and swung my sword sharply at him and he adjusted his body with fast reflexes so that my sword did no damage to him. The blood moon shone right above us and I felt my heart tighten and a raw feeling passing inside of me. My eyes turned flaming red just like his. He laughed maniacally. "You can't escape it, Ava." He yelled.

I turned against my people and instead of fighting my father, I was fighting my pack.
