Chapter 61: Chapter 61
Skye's POV
I feared for her. I feared her stubbornness would lead to her destruction someday. I held her tightly in my arms and I knew she was crying. She was seated on the bed still holding me and Anna was standing before us.
"I'm a monster," Ava said in between sobs.
I stroked her arm. "No, you're not. It's the demon aura in you."
"You'll be free once he lays dead," Anna said.
Ava raised her head from my chest and said with a weak smile. "I really have no choice, have I?"
I motioned to Anna to excuse us and she left. I turned to Ava, lifting her chin in between my thumb and index fingers.
"We have to do the needful, at least for your sake. Do you wanna remain like this?" I asked her and she shook her head.
"He came with a proposal." She said staring at me.
"What proposal?" I asked her curiously.
"In exchange for my life, he wants an annual feast of the crescents." She said, her gaze not wavering from my face. Phil was right. Clark has some tricks up his sleeves.
"Are you going to subject your people to torture to protect yourself?" I questioned her.
"My people are the reason I'm in this marriage." She said and again I felt my heart crack. I knew I told myself I was going to give her time but I was running out of patience.
I nodded. I didn't have the strength to argue anymore despite my anger. "I believe you've made up your mind," I said and she looked away.
I exhaled. "There's an army of nightwalkers coming from Russia today, they're in to support the upcoming battle," I said to her. She remained silent and I decided to let her be. There was no need to think this through anymore, couldn't she see? I walked away leaving her alone.
Camilla's POV
I stood outside the pack house, the thoughts of what Skye said echoing in my head. It was funny how six months ago all Robin did was treat me badly and always on my neck about errands. Just a few days into the pack house, we discovered we were mates and he rejected me immediately which broke me but my wolf wouldn't relent. She had fallen for the arrogant and uptight beta of the blood moon pack. Our intimacy started after one drunken night during the night of alphas and despite his reluctance after then, we just couldn't stop and he gave me a strict warning not to tell anyone.
"I believe you're not thinking of what Skye said earlier on."
I heard Robin's voice behind me. "Uh?" I asked dumbly. I was always weak to my knees whenever I'm around him. I let him use me whenever he pleases.
"Don't play dumb with me Camila." He said and I looked down staring at my feet. I was also scared of him and he knew that and used it as an advantage against me.
"I just wanna let you know that there isn't gonna be any kinda marriage between us. What we have is simply a fling and nothing more." He said and I looked up at him and nodded stupidly. "Good." He said walking away. I stared after his retreating figure, what was I doing to myself?
Skye's POV
The armies of the nightwalkers arrived late in the evening and Robin and Ria did their best in preparing their rooms and meals. The pack house was fuller than what I expected. The nightwalkers were really large in numbers.
"I believe this battle will be a fruitful one." El Ontario said beside me. I nodded as I watched everyone bustling everywhere. "We all know what's coming," I said.
He gave me a pat on my shoulder. "Believe me, Skye, the demon king won't know what hit him." He said but I doubted so. I've seen a little display of his powers and I could tell the battle won't be an easy one. "Rest with your comrades El Ontario, tomorrow we strategize," I said and he nodded and walked away.
I walked up the stairs and into the bedroom Ava and I shared. I opened the door and there she was already asleep on the bed. Closing the door gently behind me, I walked closer to her. Her hair was sprawled around her face and the disarray couldn't hide the exquisite loveliness of her face. I traced my fingers at the symmetry line of her face and she stirred in her sleep.
"Skye," she whispered, her eyelids half closed. I placed a kiss on her forehead. "Go to sleep love," I said and she entwined her fingers in mine, her eyes closed. I exhaled as I placed my head on hers. Loving her was not a mistake, I was very sure of that.
••••• ••••• ••••• ••••• •••••
The next morning, I woke up and found her fingers still entwined in mine. I smiled at her lovely face still asleep. My fierce cat was actually a peaceful angel when asleep. I slipped my fingers from hers and placed a light kiss on her forehead and headed downstairs.
I saw Robin coming out of the study room. "Tell the nightwalkers alpha to be with me inna minute," I said to him.
"Immediately." He said heading towards the direction of the stairs.
A few minutes later, El Ontario was standing outside the pack house with me. "Isn't it too early?" He asked and I shook my head. "The blood moon arises tomorrow. I'm not going to risk my wife's life for any loop of mistake that may happen." I said and he nodded in understanding.
The whole pack of the nightwalkers and the blood moon were summoned outside the pack house. Each of them, warriors born to defend and fight for what's right.
"We all know what's coming and we all know what we are about fighting for," I began and they nodded. "The demon king is not someone to be toiled with or taken as a joke. He is capable of snapping life out of anyone inna minute. Knowing this, we should be able to strategize and make plans that will help in this motive of ours." I said and gestured to Robin. "Robin here will show you all here where the weapons are kept and before the end of the day, a plan should have been formed," I said they agreed and Robin led them towards the weapon room.
I walked back into the house and saw Ava standing at the stairs. "What about the crescents? Are they not a partaker of this plan?" She asked.
I raised my brows in surprise. "You want the crescents to fight in this cause too?" I asked.
She nodded. "I do."
"Well then, a message will be sent to the crescents to be in the blood moon's territory before dusk," I said.
"That's settled then." She said.
"Does this mean you've made up your mind?" I asked the obvious.
She stared at me and then nodded. "I'll rather risk my life than the life of my people." She said. "Father's reign ends tomorrow." She said with so much determination in her voice.
