Chapter 59: Chapter 59
Ava's POV
"You're right. Maybe it was wrong of me falling in love with you. Of what use is this marriage then." He said and walked away without the realization that he broke me with his words.
'Maybe it was wrong of me to fall in love with you' those words echoed in my head. How could he say such mean things to me after his confession? Why was I feeling so bothered and down about what he said? It was a good thing, at least getting detached won't be so difficult. That was what I thought but, I felt otherwise.
Those words never wanted to leave my head and I felt tears threatening to fall from my eyes.
"Troubled?"
I heard Mary's voice behind me and I quickly dabbed a tear that slipped from my eye with a finger. I turned around with a smile. "No Mary, I'm fine," I said to her.
"You do not look fine alpha. I can perceive a troubled marriage when I see one." She said coming closer to me.
"That's something to expect from a couple that is bound only by the concept of a prophecy," I said to her and looked away.
She smiled. "There's nothing wrong in what you've said alpha. It takes more than that to be married but there's something I've noticed since you came back alpha." She said.
"What's that?" I asked her curiously.
"You've become different and I believe that you're..." She began and got interrupted by Daniel.
"Alpha, you sent for me." He said with a slight curtsey.
"I'm sorry Mary, I need to speak with Daniel," I said apologetically.
She nodded. "It's fine. What I need to say can hold on for a while. I believe you'd discover it soon. You're a woman after all." She said smiling.
I wondered what she meant but I nodded and walked outside with Daniel. "How did my father get into crescent woods?" I asked him.
"I do not know alpha. Beta Phil and I were outside the pack house discussing about the merchandise with the shadow pack when we saw him walking towards us. The first thing he did was throw beta Phil over the walls with his powers." He explained.
"Uncle didn't get a chance to defend himself?" I questioned and he shook his head. "The pack warriors came out to fight with him but they were no match for him. He had this smirk on his face as he threw them far with his blasts of wind." He said.
'You bring to me every impure white wolf of the crescent pack to sustain me and I shall not come an inch close to hurting you' father's words echoed in my head. I shook away the thoughts. "What about the merchandise with the shadow pack?" I asked him wondering why the shadow pack would still want to do business with us.
He shook his head. "It was unfruitful. Dalton Creed has become the alpha of the shadow pack and declines any business approach brought to him by us. He has drawn the line between us and has made it clear that he's coming soon for revenge." He said. I rolled my eyes. The jerk still won't let go of what happened at the wedding. I dismissed Daniel as I kept standing in front of the pack house looking away in confusion. Why was this all happening to me?
Skye's POV
I returned to the pack house without Terra. I didn't bother to ask her if she was going to return home with me. Maybe because I knew in my heart she needed to be with her pack at this moment. I sat down in the living room with one leg crossed over the other. I was still upset at her at the moment but I was also worried about her and her pack.
How did Clark get into crescent woods? I wondered. Was the barrier at the crescent woods also broken? I called for Anna. Was that how weak her powers were? There was something Anna was not telling me.
She came to me and lowered her head. "Alpha," she said.
"Where's Robin?" I asked her.
"Out of the pack house." She said.
"The demon king also got into the crescent pack's territory. Would you say Ava gave you the command to uplift the barrier?" I questioned her.
She stared at me wide eyed in disbelief. "No she didn't," she said looking downcast. "My apologies alpha, I guess I'm not as strong of a witch as my mother." She apologized and her lower lip trembled.
I closed my eyes. I didn't want to make her feel this bad or remind her of her late mother. "Tell me, Anna, did you know Ava has special abilities?" I asked her to change the topic of discussion. She shrugged and shuffled on her feet. "Did you?" I asked her again as I opened my eyes.
She nodded. "I knew today." She said.
"How?" I asked her.
She hesitated. "I held her hands this morning and saw a vision of it." She said reluctantly. The distance in her eyes proved that there was more to what she just said. The vision was not just about her special abilities.
"Sit," I ordered her gently. She walked towards an empty couch opposite mine and sat down. "What else did you see Anna?" I asked her, uncrossing my legs. She looked down at her fingers and they were trembling. "Are you okay?" I asked her. She nodded. "Then tell me, what else did you see in your vision?" I urged her.
"I saw darkness around her. Nothing but darkness and terror." She finally said and her eyes shimmered with tears.
"What do you mean?" I asked her in both perplexity and curiousness.
"She is having a demon aura around her." She said and I stared at her in shock. "What?"
What did she mean?
"Her sudden closeness to him is rubbing off his demon qualities on her and bringing out the dark side in her." She said staring at me.
"Make this clear to me Anna," I began still confused. "His closeness to her is influencing the demon qualities in her?" I asked and she nodded. "Yes. She's his daughter and has those qualities in her but they were hidden. His sudden closeness is bringing them out. If she doesn't do what is needed of her, she'd become a full demon." She said with a look on her face that proves she was not joking.
Just then Robin walked into the pack house. "You're back." He said as soon as he sighted me. I stood up from the couch. "Send a message to El Ontario, this is the moment I need him. Tell him to get ready, a battle is about to ensue two days from now." I said with authorization ringing in my voice.
He nodded without questioning. "Yes alpha." He said and walked away. I turned to Anna. "No one else should get to hear about this," I said and she nodded in understanding.
Clark's POV
I smirked as I stared at the crescent shaped moon in the sky. In two days time, it shall appear full and then become blood, and how I couldn't wait. My plan was coming together and no one, not even my daughter knew what was about to hit them.
I laughed thinking of how I was playing everyone for a fool. Like I told Phil, when I become manipulative, it was hard for anyone to get freed from it. The honest truth is I cherished Delilah and Ava, I loved them both but when it comes to my life, I was more valuable. I am the demon king, that is what is expected of us demons. We put ourselves first.
I laughed again. Don't get me wrong, I'm not such a villain but there's one in every story and I turned out to be the one.
Seeing Ava possessing her powers and displaying her powers was intriguing and how I felt proud of her and myself. Poor Anna was getting an earful because of the weak barrier. She believes she's not as powerful as she thinks but she's wrong.
She's quite a good spellcaster but, she's just no match for me. I'm the demon king, what do they take me for? I was only weak because of the lack of my century meal that doesn't mean I've lost all my powers. I laughed again.
"What makes you so happy my lord?" I heard Andrew's voice behind me. "The blood moon is approaching and there seems not to be an inch of fear in you." He said.
I chuckled. "Why should there be? Let the blood moon arise. I shall still be here." I said.
"Your confidence astonishes me. Do you really believe Ava would choose you over her pack?" He asked.
"I do not believe in luck Andrew but I have plans. You will soon see with your eyes why I rubbed off my demon qualities on her and brought out the demon aura asleep in her. You needed to see the blaze in her eyes today. She's truly her father's daughter." I said to him laughing.
He still wouldn't understand. I rolled my eyes at him. What a fool! That was why it was easy to manipulate him to be my right hand and also manipulate him to arrange an army of rogue wolves under the name of redemption in disguise.
I stared out at the moon again. How excited I was to see Ava on the blood moon night.
