Chapter 58: Chapter 58

Ava's POV

"Stop!" I yelled as he raised uncle up, sending hollows of darkness from his mouth toward him. I didn't mind now if Skye saw me releasing my powers. I sent a blast of wind that threw him over the walls of the pack house. How could he do this to me when I trusted him when no one else did?

I rushed towards uncle and held him in my arms. "Uncle, are you okay?" I asked him worried. "Terra," he mouthed and closed his eyes. It reminded me of mother and the memories came reeling in. "No!" I yelled. "No, no, no!" I yelled as I placed my head on his chest and the tears slowly dropped.

I got up on my feet and advanced toward my father. "You promised me!" I yelled sending a blast of wind toward him.

"Ava... I" he began in short gasps.

"You wanna take away the only person that has been there for me!" I yelled, turning both my hands, and a ball of fire formed. Where I was getting the mind to control these powers I couldn't comprehend. I shot the ball of fire at him and suddenly he disappeared through his wind of darkness.

"Coward! I'll find you!" I yelled and before I could think, I disappeared along with him. I was amazed because it wasn't his own wind of darkness that took me. I vanished on my own to where he was.

I found him bent over a tree beside a flowing river. He turned around in surprise when he saw me. "How did..?" He began in wonderment.

"Turns out I'm your daughter after all. Your demon quality has rubbed off on me." I said to him.

His eyes were still red. "You're just like me after all." He said. He was looking very weak.

"I am nothing like you!" I yelled at him.

"Your eyes, Ava, they are as red as mine. It is not the eyes of a blood moon or a crescent, Ava. It is the eyes of a demon." He said with a light chuckle.

In anger, I sent a blast of wind toward him and he blocked the impact of it.

"Stop now and listen to me, Ava." He said.

"Listen to you? You were about to kill uncle Phil!" I yelled at him.

"I wasn't going to kill him, Ava. I just wanted to make a point!" He said raising his blood

"What an absurd way of making a point!" I yelled and he fell to the ground coughing and his flaming red eyes turned black and then returned to normal. He was on the ground with spasms of cough coming out from him. My compassion was back and the anger I felt for him dissipated as I rushed toward him.

"Are you okay?" I asked him.

He shook his head. "I'm not okay, Ava," he said coughing. "That's what I was trying to let you know." He said.

"At the expense of uncle's life?" I demanded.

"He'll live. Just a token I gave to him for taking you away from me." He said. His eyes looked so innocent, I believed him.

"What point were you trying to make?" I asked him.

"I can't keep the promise I made to you, Ava." He said.

"What? Why?" I asked baffled.

"Just like you eat to live, I also need to feed to survive." He said.

"What is your point?" I asked him.

"I've come with a proposal." He said.

"Proposal?" I asked him dumbly. He nodded. "I need you to sustain for another three centuries," he said which instilled fear in me. "But I cannot bear to see myself feeding on my own flesh and blood." He said and I breathed a sigh of relief.

"What is your proposal then?" I asked him.

"You bring to me every impure white wolf of the crescent pack to sustain and I won't come an inch close to hurting you." He said.

"What?" I said dumbfounded by his outrageous proposal.

Skye's POV

I watched as the female crescent pack members attended to their beta. His eyes were still closed but he was still breathing, slowly.

"He needs a doctor," I said and an elder shook her head.

"Doctors can't help us in situations like this." She said.

"Mary is right," an old man said and I figured out the elderly woman's name was Mary.

"What he needs is herbs all boiled up together and he drinks it. He is lucky he didn't drop dead immediately. It's hard to escape the hollows of darkness." Mary said.

"Hurry up Beth, fetch the herbs." She said to one of the females and she nodded and left the room.

"How do we exorcise this demon king from existence?" I asked the elders.

"It day of reckoning is here already young alpha. The blood moon will appear in the sky two days from now," Mary said and I stared at her in surprise. It was here. "The full moon will appear on that day and once the blood moon takes over, you shall strike." She said and I remembered the sorcerer in Russia saying 'hand in hand under the blood moon sky, the demon king shall be defeated.

Just then, Ava walked into the room with a pale expression on her face. "How's he doing?" She asked Mary as she sat beside Phil.

"He'll be fine in a few days." She assured her. I walked out of the room, my previous anger and sense of distrust returning. I walked down the stairs and stood by the rails.

Firstly she hid from me about her movement to the crescent woods which led to her kidnap and she used David as a coverup. Then, she uplifted the territory barrier without telling me and now she had powers and she didn't see it deem fit to tell me. What else was she keeping away from him? What else? He wondered.

I sighted her walking down the stairs and then she paused for a few seconds and continued walking down the stairs.

"What else are you hiding from me?" I asked her.

"What are you talking about now?" She asked nonchalantly walking past me. I grabbed her arm and pulled her back. "Don't act dumb with me," I said to her trying to control my anger.

She stared at me. "Need I remind you that you're in my house and you cannot do as you likely please with me as you do at your own house." She said in defiance. That fierceness in her that should be irritating me right now only fired me up the more.

"Need I also remind you that you've been given to me as a wife and I could choose to do whatever pleases me with you without any word from anyone? Who would dare challenge the alpha?" I said to her equally in defiance.

"I'm not your possession." She said with a raised chin.

"You're mine and do not dare change the subject of discussion," I said being aware of her tactics.

"What do you want from me?" She demanded.

"What else are you hiding from me?" I questioned her. She stared at me. "First you lied to me and then did things of your own will and accord and now, the biggest of all, this. How could you keep such a matter of importance away from me?" I asked her quietly in anger.

She pulled her arm away from my hand. "I didn't see a need to." She said.

"What did you just say?" I asked her trying not to get exasperated.

"I said Skye Nicholas, I didn't see a need to." She said with extreme boldness.

I grabbed her arms shaking her till I felt her head was spinning. "Damn you, woman! Damn you!" I yelled at her.

"Skye," she said.

"Why do you have to keep frustrating me like this? You didn't see it deem fit to tell me about this?!" I said shaking her.

"Skye, you're..hurting me." She said and that was the least I wanted to do right now. I let go of her arms and she stumbled back a bit.

"You do not know how much you hurt me with your actions," I said to her.

"Why don't you go ahead and walk away from me then?" She said without remorse.

Once again, she hurt me without caring to know she did. I felt my heart break as I nodded. "You're right. Maybe it was wrong of me falling in love with you. Of what use is this marriage then." I said and walked away from her. No one told me it was going to be this hard once you were in love.
