Chapter 49: Chapter 49
Fernandez POV
The woman locked up in the dungeon with me was quite a beauty but refused to talk to me despite being in the same cell with me for five days.
"You know you are not coming out of here anytime soon," I said to her and she shot me a hard glare.
"It's either we get killed or get banished from the pack. That's the only two options we have." I said. "And considering the gravity of your actions, it's death," I said again.
"You don't even know why I am here." She said irritated.
"I finally got you talking," I said. "It's pretty obvious, I know you like the alpha. So it's clear you tried to get rid of your obstacle, his wife, Ava." I said after many calculations these past few days.
I've seen her clinging to Skye twice before and had a reasoning she was in love with him.
She looked away from me. "I've been with him for fifteen years despite his cheating ways and now he's married to someone else with utmost faithfulness and loyalty." She said bitterly.
"Believe me when I say I know how you feel. Ava and I have been best of friends way longer than that. She turned a blind eye to the love I had for her. The signs were there but she choose to ignore them and got married to that bag of oats, my apologies," I said when she glared at me. "She lied to me. She told me she wasn't going to marry him. All she wanted was vengeance for the death of her mother but she didn't. She got married to him and willingly slept with him." I said bitterly.
"Did you ever confess your feelings?" She asked me.
"I did. On the day I committed my offense." I said.
"I was Skye's lover for four years. We've already been intimate, so my case is different from yours." She said to me.
"Different or not, we both are going to face the consequences of our actions," I said to her pointing out the fact.
"All I know is, I won't sit and watch Skye be happy with that lowlife." She said with all determination. I curved a smile. I have seen my partner in the future crime we were going to commit if and if we get out alive.
Ava's POV
I was seated in front of the vanity mirror with Camila curling up my hair and Anna applying lacquer nail polish on my nails. "Is this all necessary?" I asked them. I was already tired of sitting down.
"Yes, it is," Camila replied to me. "The alpha wants you to look your best." She said.
"And the best we shall give to him," Anna said smiling.
I groaned. "C'mon, don't tell me you don't want to look good for your husband," Camila said and I frowned at her. "Or you're not in love with him yet?" She asked.
I stared at her through the mirror and she sealed her lips. Love? I didn't get married to him for love. I got married to him because I had other plans. I wasn't in love with him or was I lying to myself?
It's been six months since we got married, how is it possible that I was in love with him? No, I wasn't in love with him. Far from that!
"It will take time but I hope you realize it soon," Anna said.
"That?" I asked her.
"Nothing. You'll find out yourself." She said.
"In your visions, have you seen the demon king?" I asked her, changing the topic.
She shook her head. "He's never clear." She said to me.
"Then how did you create the barrier?" I asked again.
"All I had to do was say his name in the spell." She said and I nodded as I watch her absentmindedly.
Camila finished curling my hair and came forward and started applying cosmetics on my face giving my face a treat just like she did on the day of my wedding.
All done, I slipped into the gorgeous dress and Anna drew up the zip of the dress and Camila wore the silver necklace around my neck matching the studs of earrings that pierced in my ears and she turned me to the mirror. I was amazed by the dress and how I turned out.
The dress hung to my body curves and the v neck revealed my cleavages. On my lips was a red lipstick that was inviting. The slit of the dress was very revealing as it was opened from my thigh downwards.
"You look.." Anna began and became speechless.
"Beautiful." Camila completed and I smiled at their compliments.
"Alpha Skye is going to drop dead when he sees you," Anna said and I chuckled. She was exaggerating.
"A job well done," Camila said and the girls did and high five. I rolled my eyes and slipped my pedicure feet into the low silver heels.
The door opened and Robin walked in. "My.." He paused and stared at me. "What?" I asked feeling nervous. "You look different." He said.
"Drop dead gorgeous is the word," Camila said with a smile.
"Skye is going to be swept off his feet. He was not crazy when he picked this dress earlier on." He said.
"You are all on this right? Scheming with Skye, is that right?" I said feigning annoyance.
"Anything for my alpha," he said with a small smile. Did he smile? I was surprised. He was always uptight around me. "Shall we?" He asked and I nodded and he walked me out of the room.
"Where are we headed?" I asked him as we walked out of the house and he smiled again. "You'll see." He said and opened the car door and I entered.
"Ain't we supposed to stay within the territory, why are we driving?" I asked him.
"I'm too lazy to walk and besides you're too gorgeous to walk that far. Skye would kill me if he finds out I did that." He said and I chuckled. He wasn't that bad when he loosened up.
He drove out of the pack house and maintained the lane for about twenty minutes and stopped. He alighted and opened the car door out for me again and I stepped out. I wondered where Skye was.
I looked around the place, oh great! I was this dressed up to meet him in the forest, how amazing. I scoffed in my head and Isla scolded me.
"This way," he said gesturing to a clear space and I followed him. We got to a place where the green grasses were mowed and looking beautiful and the trees around were lit with glowing lights of different colors, I was awed beyond words and then I saw Skye. His back was turned against us and he stood a few feet away from us.
"The lady Ava Nicholas has arrived," Robin announced, and with that left.
Skye turned towards my direction and I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach, my heart raced faster as he approached me with a smile. He was dressed in a black fitted suit and he looked irresistibly handsome.
Skye's POV
I was captivated by her beauty. For a few seconds, I stood staring at her speechlessly unable to mutter any words. She was Aphrodite reborn.
"You look.." I began still unable to form words.
"Beautiful?" She said with an uneasy smile.
"Breathtaking," I said instead and I told no lie. Her red lips were begging for a kiss and the silver necklace radiated with her eyes. She smiled and I almost lost my head. She's perfection. "Come," I said stretching forth my hand and she took it.
I held her hand and together we walked toward the vast landscape. "I thought we were to stay within the pack." She said to me.
"Of course," I responded.
"Then why does it feel like we're not." She said.
"We are. This is part of the blood moon's territory." I said and she suppressed a gasp. "It is larger than I thought." She said.
"Close your eyes," I said to her. She raised a brow. "Do you wanna throw me over a cliff?" She asked in suspicion.
"I would have done that a long time ago if I wanted to," I said and she closed her eyes. "Don't let me fall." She warned lightly and I chuckled. "I've got you," I said and held her hand and guided her slowly toward the end of the clear opening. "Open your eyes," I said to her and slowly she did. "I knew you were planning on killing me." She said and took a step backward and I held her waist to refrain her from any further movement.
I chuckled. "No silly. Look." I said to her and she reluctantly did. She gasped as she gazed down at the landscape before her. It was the city. Its lights radiated everywhere and were beautiful. The city looked small and beautiful from here. "It's beautiful." She said still gazing at the city.
"There's more," I said and hot air balloons floated in the air. "Wow." She gasped looking around. Then the fireworks shot up in the sky and her face was formed as they lightened up in the sky.
She stumbled back in surprise and bafflement. She turned to look at me. "Did you do this for me?" She asked.
"Yes," I said.
"Why?" She asked and I saw her eyes burn with tears. I reached for her and pulled her closer to me. I placed my hand on her waist and trailed my fingers on the side of her face and she closed her eyes and opened them again.
For the first time in my life, I felt my heart race.
"I've never been this concerned about a woman before. All I ever thought about women was for sexual pleasures and nothing more. Since I met you, I've had different ideas about women." I said to her.
"What are you saying, Skye?" She asked in that low beautiful sultry voice of hers.
"I'm in love with you, Ava. I've never felt this way in all twenty two years of my life." I said to her.
She was taken aback by my words. She stumbled back and my fingers fell from her face. She stared at me and I stood there staring back at her confused by her reaction.
"You do not love me, Skye." She finally said.
"What?" I said baffled by her words. Who knew my feelings better than I did?
"You do not love me, Skye," she repeated, this time, looking into my eyes. "You only love my body." She said to me.
I moved closer to her. "What makes you think so?" I asked her.
"A few forced moments in bed doesn't mean you are in love with me. Intimacy isn't love." She said and I slipped my hand behind her waist and pulled her closer to me.
"Have you thought of it this way?" I asked her.
"What way?" She questioned.
"In the sense that, do I love Ava because of her body, or do I love her body because it belongs to her?" I asked her and she stared at me speechlessly and looked away. I held her chin and turned her face back to mine.
"I love you, Ava no matter what you think of me and that's not going to change anytime soon," I said and leaned closer to her face. She bit her lower lip, a habit of hers that always intoxicates me. "You're mine, Ava. Mine alone." I said and with that, my lips entangled with hers passionately.
