Chapter 48: Chapter 48
Ava's POV
I stirred in my sleep having a feeling that the warmth beside me was gone. I opened my eyes sheepishly and truly Skye was no longer beside me. I yawned and stretched lazily as I got out of bed and went into the bathroom. I stared at my reflection in the mirror as I splashed water on my face. I was looking different. I was not looking like a teenager but a full grown woman. Skye had spoiled me and did I have regrets? I had no idea.
Did I fail my mother by not avenging her death? I wondered. Maybe I did. Instead of getting justice for her, I was busy sleeping with the enemy's son. I closed my eyes, none of these was my fault. I still wanted to go ahead with my initial plans without any disruption but...I sighed.
I walked down the stairs in a black jeans and a turtleneck cashmere after washing up. I walked into the kitchen and picked up the tea jug and poured myself a cup. It was still heavy which meant that Skye didn't take his usual morning tea. Where was he?
Just then Ria walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning my queen." She said politely.
"Morning. Skye didn't have his morning tea?" I asked her and she shook her head.
"I haven't seen the alpha this morning." She replied.
"Thank you," I said walking out of the kitchen and sipping tea from my cup when I saw Robin.
"My queen." He said very formally with a slight bow.
"Have you seen Skye today?" I asked him.
He shook his head. "Not at all my queen." He said and I nodded. "Okay, thank you," I said to him.
"Most welcome." He said and walked away. Hmm, he didn't seem hostile to me anymore and I wonder why.
I walked out of the pack house towards the pack's clinic to see David. This time around, the doctor was there too. "How's he doing?" I asked him.
"Honestly I do not know. His chances of surviving this ordeal are very slim." He said to me. David's mother broke down in tears. "It's all your fault you know." She said to me. I knew it was but I didn't have a choice. It seemed that my presence only reminded her that her son was in this condition because of me. I didn't want to upset her the more.
"Was Skye here this morning?" I asked the doctor.
"Yes, he was. He came to check on the boy." He said. Sweet relief washed over me. At least someone saw him this morning. "Did you perhaps see where he was headed to?" I asked and he shook his head. "He didn't say." He said.
"Thank you," I said walking out of the clinic. The tea in my cup was already cold so I threw it away and walked into the pack house, walking into the kitchen and rinsing the cup, I replaced it back on its shelf.
I returned to the room and fell flat on the bed and I closed my eyes in slumber.
••••• ••••• ••••• ••••• •••••
I stirred in my sleep as I felt a hand caressing my hair and stroking my chin lovingly. I fluttered my lashes and opened my eyes. Skye was sitting at the edge of the bed with a look of admiration on his face.
"Are you awake?" He asked me.
"Hmm," I said sitting up slowly. "Where were you?" I asked him.
He shrugged. "Let's just say I was somewhere that brings me peace." He replied.
"And that somewhere has no name?" I asked, raising a questioning brow.
"Were you worried about me?" He asked in avoidance of the question.
I shrugged. "I don't even care if you went to hell and came back," I said and he chuckled. "The worried frown on your face says otherwise love." He said.
I shrugged again. "What punishment do you have in mind for Natasha and Fernandez?" I asked him.
"I leave you to handle Fernandez's punishment and I know exactly what to do to Natasha." He said.
"What do you have in mind?" I asked.
"You'll see." He stood up and kissed my head. "I'll be back." He said.
"Where to now?" I asked him.
"Believe me, I'll be back soon." He said and with one long lasting look at me that sent butterflies down my stomach, he walked out the door.
I stood up from the bed and went to the window. I saw him standing with Robin and with his gestures, he was saying something to him. What was he up to? The thought crossed my mind severally.
I heard a knock at the door and I turned to see who it was. "Come in," I said. Anna and Camila walked in holding a dress in their hand.
"Look who decided to come to see me today," I said to both of them.
"Don't tell me you're angry at us," Camila said.
"Believe me I am," I said feigning annoyance. "You Camila, only come to me these days when Skye sends you to me and you Anna, only the good Lord knows where you keep yourself these days," I said pouting.
"Do not take it the wrong way my queen," Anna began. "I've been practicing a lot and Camila," she huffed. "You have to ask her about her whereabouts because I rarely get to see her these days." She said.
"C'mon, don't be that way, Anna," Camila said whining.
"So tell me, Camila," I said folding my arms. "What have you been up to? Don't tell me you're frolicking about with one of these blood moons?" I asked her.
"No," She quickly denied. "I've been busy going on errands for beta Robin." She said and colors rose to her cheeks. I raised a brow in suspicion but I let the issue rest.
"What's with the dress?" I asked them as they laid it out on the bed. The dress was beautiful and breathtaking and I gasped at the design couture. It was a laced royal oxblood sleeveless dress with a slit in between and a deep V-neck.
"Alpha Skye asked us to bring it to you and to get you prepared," Camila said.
"Prepared for what?" I asked in suspicion.
"We have no idea," Anna said and I felt the texture of the dress. Was he planning a date? I wondered.
