Chapter 50: Chapter 50

Ava's POV

Skye and I saw barely of each other since the night he professed his love to me. He became extremely busy with the political affairs of the pack. He was either in one meeting or the other and when he returns, he was always drunk and ended up falling asleep by my side and up the next morning before I awake.

I walked down the stairs thinking of seeing uncle and the pack when I saw him coming out of his study room. "Good morning," I said for the first time in six months. He stared at me for a few seconds and smirked. "What a beautiful way to start this morning," he said and he met me at the foot of the stairs and held my waist as he kissed my forehead.

"Morning, beautiful." He said.

"Had breakfast?" I asked him.

"I was hoping you'd join me." He said.

"I'll skip breakfast today," I said. He stared at me. "Why? Are you okay?" He asked in concern.

I nodded. "I'm fine. I just.." I wanted to tell him about my plan of seeing uncle and the pack today, to know how they were faring but I decided against it.

"What is it?" He asked checking me out for any sign of illness.

"I'm fine seriously," I said. He held my hand leading me to the dining hall.

"Then you must have breakfast." He said as he pulled the chair backward for me and I got seated.

He took a few pieces of croissants, scrambled eggs, a piece of back bacon, and a few slices of tomatoes and sausage and placed them on my plate. He took the fork and scooped a slice of the eggs and bacon towards my mouth.

"You don't have to feed me," I said. He rolled his eyes.

"Don't tell me I have to force you to eat just like I force you to go to bed with me." He said and I glared at him and he chuckled. "Now open up." He commanded and I reluctantly agreed. He fed me with so much gentleness and care. He lifted the fork again towards my mouth and our eyes locked. We gazed into each other's eyes as he slowly placed the fork into my mouth. I felt that sinking feeling in my stomach again. What was wrong with me?

"I'm off to see David." I lied to him after we were done with breakfast. I knew he was not going to let me go see my uncle without a blood moon's protection but I didn't want to risk keeping my life in the hands of a blood moon. He nodded. "I'll be in the study room if you need me." He said and kissed my forehead. I closed my eyes in a nod and watched him walk away. I walked out of the house. I was thankful he couldn't hear my innermost thoughts. I found a way of sealing them from him. This was another secret I was hiding from him. First, I didn't tell him I got powers after our marriage and now, I found a way of sealing my thoughts from him. Maybe he found a way of doing it too cause I couldn't hear his thoughts too. Maybe, it only happens when we communicate with each other telepathically. I went into the pack's clinic and briefly saw David. He was breathing slowly through the oxygen. I held his fingers and placed a light kiss on them and left before my presence annoys his mother by the time she returns.

I walked out of the pack's clinic and saw Luna coming in. "Luna, what are you doing here?" I asked, lowering down to her.

"I'm here to see David. I always come to check on him." She said and I ruffled her hair. What a sweet child. I smiled. "That's good of you," I said. "Does his mother get mad at you when you come to see him?" I asked her and she shook her head. "No. At first, she did but she doesn't anymore." She said. I smiled and ruffled her hair again. "Go," I said to her and she hopped happily in.

I found Anna and Camila sitting under one of the oak trees. "Guess what?" I said having a twinkle in my eyes.

"What?" Camila asked smiling.

"We're going to crescent woods," I said smiling. A huge smile was plastered on her face. "That's great. Today?" She asked.

"Yes," I said nodding. She stood up to her feet.

"And you Anna, c'mon, you will also accompany us," I said and she stood up smiling too. "It will be an honor to accompany her queen to her home." She said and I gave her a playful punch. "Stop that. You treat me like I'm an oldie." I said feigning annoyance.

"I'm sorry my queen." She said smiling.

"C'mon, let's go," I said and together we walked through the forest. Since Skye instructed I should not leave the territory alone, I decided it was better to go with people I trust.

"You know the people are still quite upset with your decision despite their silence," Camila said.

"A decision that will be good for us all. Besides, I'm their queen and they have to listen to me," I replied. "Fernandez also disgraced the name of our pack when he committed that grave offense. How could he plan to murder the alpha under his own roof? I wonder what the fool was thinking." I said and recalled he said it was because of me.

How could I not have seen the sign that the friendship I thought we had wasn't friendship in his eyes? Rather he was seeing me as a lover.

"Speaking of Fernandez, what's the alpha's decision for his actions?" Anna asked.

"He's leaving the decision for me. According to him, what I decide goes." I said.

"So what will be your decision?" Camila asked me.

"Honestly, I do not know," I said truthfully. "He was once someone close to me and I won't like to see him hurt," I said.

"I hope you do what's best for the pack," Camila said and I sighed. "I hope so too, believe me," I said.

"I noticed something different about you when you walked towards us," Anna said trying to lighten up the mood.

"Different?" I asked surprised. She nodded. "You have this glow around you." She said.

"Glow?" I raised a brow and she nodded again. "Yes, I just can't place my hand on it. She said. "And also there's a change in your scent. It's no longer the same. It's been mixed. I wonder why I am just taking notice of this." Camila added mischievously.

"Hmm, I wonder why," I said awkwardly. They both smiled mischievously at me. "What?" I asked feeling embarrassed.

"It's obvious my queen that the alpha has made you his permanently," Camila said smiling.

"That's absurd," I said as color crept to my cheeks.

"I can tell from the glow that Camila is not lying. You've been marked." Anna said giggling.

I looked away hiding the blush on my cheeks. Why was I feeling this way? We took a shorter route and we were out of the territory.

Just then, a window of darkness swirled towards us carrying me in it. I screamed. I was helpless in it. My wolf and I couldn't fight it. The last I saw was Anna releasing her powers and then everywhere blacked out.

Skye's POV

I sent one of the pack members to inform the guard on duty in the dungeon to bring Natasha to me. He went away and returned minutes later with the guard and Natasha. I dismissed them leaving only Natasha before me.

"You finally brought me out after leaving me in there for two weeks." She said. Her tongue was still as sharp as before.

"You should be thankful you got nice treatments like bathing and food in there unlike other prisoners," I said to her.

"That's because you still have me in your heart. You still love me." She said.

"Cut that out Nat, we're over that faze," I said waving her words away. "That's not why I brought you here," I said to her.

"What else? You want to apologize for locking me up in that dungeon like a common criminal." She began running her tongue.

"Oh please Nat, just stop it okay," I said getting irritated.

"You still call me lovingly. Why do you still insist that you don't love me?" She said.

"Because you keep getting me wrong Nat. I care for you, I've always been there when you needed me but not anymore."

"What do you mean?" She asked sounding perplexed.

It was hard for me to say but I had to. "You're banished from the pack," I said dropping the bombshell and she stared at me in shock.

"You can't do that to me. You have no right to." She rented.

"I do. Remember I'm the alpha." I said to her.

"That's impossible!"

"The pack elders and I have discussed this issue and this is what we concluded," I said to her. My heart bled out for her but I had no option in this. Either banishment or death.

"This is my home, you can't throw me out!" She yelled.

"I'm not throwing you out Nat, I'm banishing you. You made an attempt on life just like Andrew and you know the rules more than anyone." I said standing on my feet and at that moment, I felt something move out of me and a part of me felt missing.

"I won't forgive you for this Skye," she said and I called the guard in. "Escort her out of the territory," I said as I placed my hand on my chest. What was this feeling?

But Nat wouldn't leave. He carried her up as she ranted. "I'll never forgive you, Skye! I'll ruin your life! I won't let you be happy with her!" She yelled and the guard bundled her out of the study.

I sighed and attempted to sit when the door burst open and a panting Anna and Camila barged in.

"What is it?" I asked at the rude intrusion. Their silence made me nervous and I had a feeling it had to do with Ava.

"It's Ava," Camila finally said still panting.

"What about Ava? Where is she?" I asked at once perplexed.

"She just..disappeared." She said.

"Disappeared?" She was making no sense. "Talk to me." I almost yelled at her.

"A wind of darkness came out of nowhere and she was gone," Anna said.

"What?" I exclaimed staring at her in shock.
