Chapter 36: Chapter 36
Skye's POV
The pack was assembled before me. Each of them murmured about the sudden moving in of the crescents.
I looked at them and cleared my throat and instantly, they became silent. "We are gathered here today to address an issue that has become a thorn in our flesh over an hour ago. You all believe that it's a threatening cause to have the crescents in the house but I see it the other way around. I believe it's a way of bonding." I said.
They made a mockery of my statement. "Bond? We can never have any bond with the crescents."
"They are murderers."
"They are inferior to us."
They chanted and that blew Ava off. "Inferior?" she began and I tried to stop her. "Let me be Skye," she said to me. "It's time I speak to my 'pack'" she said elaborating the word in sarcasm.
She turned to the pack. "Inferior? Murderers?" she questioned. "Go on, let's hear what you have to say about the crescents, my people or you've run out of awful names to call us?" she questioned.
"Whores!" Someone yelled from the back.
"Good and?" she demanded calmly.
They whispered amongst themselves and said nothing. "If that is all you want to say, then let me tick off a few things about the blood moons on my list. Shall I begin?" she asked and they kept murmuring.
"The blood moons are jerks, a strong pack, but preys on weaker packs," Ava said and I raised a brow. Where was she going with this? The pack stared at her like she had grown two horns. "They are consistently brutal and are molesters. They are perpetual liars and conceal evil in their hearts. They also don't think before taking irrational decisions and if you think with all I've said, I'm wrong then I want you to come here and tell me what you believe to be the truth." She said daring them.
I stood, relenting to get involved. I wanted to know how this drama in front of me would unfold.
The pack was silent. "If of course, no one can prove me wrong then, I'll have to prove to you all that what I'm saying is right," I said.
"Prove it." Robin challenged her. She curved a wicked smile. "Of course, I will," she said saucily to him. "The blood moons and the crescents were on neutral sides centuries ago before the first war waged against us and why, because one of our own back then murdered a blood moon to protect his mate. Now tell me who the murderer is?" Ava questioned.
"The crescent of course. He was the first to start the killing of blood moons." Robin said and Ava shook her head. "Would the crescent have struck the blood moon if he was on his own without causing harm?" She asked. "No," she answered her own question. "The blood moon was trying to molest the crescent and that comes to my second part, they are molesters. If we were not weak, the blood moons won't have been opportune to fight with us. But they fought with us 'cause we were the weakest pack." Ava said and the pack was still quiet.
I watched her as she said every detail of her findings. When did she get the time to think of this speech? I wondered.
"Which comes to my third fact, they are perpetual liars. After almost wiping out the crescents, they gave them only one condition to live and that is to become slaves to them which the crescents have no choice but to comply with. What did the blood moons do? They began molesting innocent women and even raping them to death but that wasn't the agreement the crescents had with the blood moons." she said and stared hard at Robin who looked away.
"Now, about my fourth fact, they take irrational decisions and how's that? The blood moon alpha centuries ago did not blame his son or cared about his atrocities. All he wanted was to kill a whole pack for the mistake of one. That's being irrational." She concluded. "Shall I go on beta Robin?" she asked in sarcasm.
He shrugged but didn't back down. "You are just replaying history and relaying your false facts with them," he said.
"Isn't that what you all were doing too? Making a comparison of us with our ancestors?" Ava questioned.
Robin shrugged and Ava turned to the pack. "Let's not keep repeating history. The ones who started the boiling hatred in our hearts are dead and gone, forgotten and buried but we're still alive. We insist that we are not what your ancestors said us to be and you also insist that you are not what our ancestors said you to be. Let's forget the past and.."
"The past cannot be forgotten. We lost our loved ones!" the pack finally yelled.
"I lost my mother too!" she yelled and turned in my direction. "In the hands of his father," she said and I could see her eyes filled with hurt. "And he lost his mother too, in the hands of one of our own," she said and I looked away trying not to break down.
"But here we are married and living by an example. If we could be trying to work this out for the sake of both packs, then you all need to do the same." I said walking towards where she was and holding her.
"The crescents stay till we know what step to take next." She said and it felt like she had hit a spot in them as they reluctantly agreed.
"You can all leave," I said and one by one they dispersed. I turned to Ava. "I never knew you to be this intelligent," I said.
"You think I'm dumb?" she asked frowning at me.
I shook my head. "I'm not saying that. Gosh, you flare up so easily." I said to her.
She struggled from my arms and walked towards the door, leaving me standing.
Ava's POV
I walked out the door and saw Camila and Anna under one of the olive trees. I walked towards them.
"My queen," Anna said brightly acknowledging my presence.
"Hey, sister," Camila said smiling.
"You too seem to never be inside the house, what's going on?" I asked feigning annoyance.
They laughed. "The trees in the blood moons territory have a soothing feeling to the soul," Anna said smiling.
"I can see that," I said smiling too.
"The pack is settled in right?" Camila asked and I nodded.
"I could feel the tension in there," Anna said.
"They were quite reluctant about it but now I think they can bear each other for some days," I said to her.
"The pack can't stay here for so long. What are you planning on doing?" Camila asked.
"You're right Cami but, we have no idea where to find the demon king but he has found us already and we haven't gotten a clue on how to find him," I said.
"And you cannot strike until the blood moon appears in the sky," Anna said and I nodded.
"But the pack can't stay here till the blood moon arises and we do not have an idea when that is happening," I said. "I don't know if there's a way to keep them safe with them staying here," I said again.
Anna looked disturbed for a while and I wondered why? "What's wrong Anna?" I asked her.
"Nothing," she said still looking perturbed. "I was thinking," she said.
"About what?" I asked.
"There's a way the pack can be protected without staying here." she said. I was surprised. What way? I wondered.
