Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Skye's POV

The day had finally arrived. The day I would tie the knot with the feisty alpha female of the crescent pack. My wolf Eros was dancing in delight but I was a bit grumpy. Despite getting married to my mate, I was still skeptical about it all. I didn't know why I had such feelings this morning.

I wondered what father would be thinking in his grave, his only child was getting married to the pack's enemy. One that murdered his mother. What kind of a son was he? He should be against this marriage but instead, he was instigating it. And Natasha? I frowned at the thoughts in my mind. I've been completely occupied with the thoughts of Ava that I forgot about Natasha. What would be her take on this?

Robin walked into my Robin. "Skye?" he called to me. I stepped away from the window and turned to him."Any updates?" I asked.

"Nothing of much importance," he said.

"Then speak of what brings you here otherwise leave me to my thoughts," I said sitting downcast on the bed.

"Not happy anymore about your big day I see," he said. I frowned at him. "I really don't know why I'm feeling this way," I said to him.

"Folks say it always happens before the wedding takes place especially since she's a crescent," he said sitting beside me. "It will be over soon," he said.

"It better be," I said looking into an empty space.

Ava's POV

The sun rays filtered through the window hitting my face and a contented smile spread across my lips.

I stirred on the bed and yawned. What a blissful night!

Just then, Isla whispered to me. "You're getting married tonight," she said with so much enthusiasm.

Immediately, my smile turned sour. I had momentarily forgotten I was getting married to the blood moon alpha tonight.

I shut my eyes tight to avoid having imaginations in my head but I was just making a fool out of myself. I groaned and sat down on the bed as Isla teased me. "I cannot wait to be with him. Hold him in my arms and allow him to kiss me just like he did in the snow. Oh my Eros, I'll.."

I held my head. "Stop it, just stop it okay?!" I yelled at her and she smirked. "Tell me you're not visualizing how his lips would taste with yours underneath." she continued teasing.

"Argh!" I groaned. "Bloody hell. You're so fucking annoying." I said as I walked into the bathroom and all she did was laugh my ass off.

My nightmare was finally revealing. I sat on the ebony chair staring at myself in the mirror. I was only nineteen and would be getting married tonight.

A sulking feeling sunk down my stomach, I'd become a blood moon by marriage. Gross. I thought.

I'll live among hounds of barbarians and vulgar wolves with no etiquettes and manners. How I disliked the blood moons.

I shook my head. I should stop thinking about the marriage instead and focus on my coronation. In an hour, I'll be up on that pavilion crowned alpha of the pack and I was both jittery and excited about it.

Camila came in holding a dress. "This will fit well for the coronation don't you think?" she asked holding a dress.

Honestly, I hated dresses and I never wore them since I became a teenager.

But it seems riding boots and jeans wouldn't be fit for a coronation so I nodded smiling at her as she raised it in front of me. "Indeed fit Camila," I said.

She beamed with a smile. "I'll get your shoes ready and make up set. All you have to do.."

"Hold on, hold on.. makeup?" I asked raising a brow as I interrupted her.

She nodded. "It's your coronation and you have to look irresistible," she said and trailed off. "Not that you're not.." she added realizing she might have sounded off.

"I get it," I laughed. "I'll do the needful," I said.

All ready and done, I was escorted by my uncle to the pavilion where the elders were standing with the pack's priest.

Uncle smiled at me and I lowered, crouching on one knee as I placed my hand on my chest swearing to an oath, to protect the pack and keep us in unity.

"By the power vested upon me as the custodian of this pack and as your guardian, I deem you fit to be alpha of the crescent pack." uncle proclaimed and the priest sprinkled white ashes on me. The pack howled.

"May the spirit of the ancestors always be with you." the elders said. I mouthed an 'amen' and rose to my feet and faced the pack.

They lowered to one knee and bowed their heads. I was their leader now. The alpha queen of this pack and with the oath I have taken to do what's right and protect the pack I'd honor. My right arm was pledged to them to forever be their protector and put their interest first before mine. Being the alpha was a duty I intended to do well than any other alpha has done.

The sun slowly fell behind the horizon, its pale orange lights across the sky diminishing to a burst of gray. I sighed staring out the window. It was about time.

"My queen, it's time to get ready," Camila said to me.

I walked away from the window."Can't we wait a little longer?" I asked.

She shook her head. "We've stalled enough. You wanted this and can't turn back," she said.

"I know." I sighed and stared at my reflection in the mirror. "Well then, let's get this over with and prepare to go into misery," I said and she patted my shoulder.

"You'll be fine," she said reassuringly.

"You think so?" I asked her. She nodded. "I believe so my queen," she said smiling at me. I knew she was trying to reassure me. I sighed. I decided on this and had to go on with it.
