Chapter 24: Chapter 24

Ava's POV

The pack was extremely excited to be in the new house and new surroundings.

Married couples with children were given one quarter of the two houses on the landscape, and another quarter of the house to singles and new found loves.

Uncle had left the cabins in the forest, he had said just in case we needed refuge. Besides, important pack meetings could still take place there. We were the only ones living on this landscape. It took about an hour's drive to get to civilization. Uncle still wanted us to keep a low profile.

The main house was reserved for the alpha which is me, uncle Phil, and the elders, and a place in the house was also reserved for the children if they ever decide to stay in the main house.

The entrance of the house was wide and spacious with a two wing step staircase leading to an inside balcony that separated the left wing from the right. The stairs were made of mahogany and the floor was covered in linoleum.

On the cornice decor, was a ceiling medallion design of sunburst radiating the golden lights of the chandeliers. It was indeed beautiful.

Uncle walked up to me. "The decorations will be hung tonight when everyone is settled in. Every other thing will be done tomorrow morning before the wedding," he said.

"Why do I have this feeling that you're in a rush to watch this end," I said to him.

"Because I am, Ava, you don't need to be reminded that I am not in total support of this marriage," he said.

"I know what I'm doing uncle," I assured him.

"I sure hope you do," he said.

"Have my message been passed across to the crescents outside the pack?" I asked.

"Has a matter of fact yes. But, not all are willing to come back to the pack. They believe that's when the crescents will be an easy target to the demon king." he said.

"They have no choice. We can't be apart when something disastrous is about to befall us." I said.

"They will need a lot more convincing." uncle said to me and I nodded in understanding.

"I trust you to do that," I said.

"Yes," he said looking into an empty space before walking away.

I walked into the room specified for me and I loved it. I felt bad I only had a day to enjoy the luxury and the beauty of the room.

I laid on the bed enjoying its softness and ticking off plans I had mapped out in my head when a knock came in.

"It's open," I said refusing to get off the bed. Who knew when next I'd be on it again?

The door creaked open and Camila walked in. I tilted my head a bit from the bed and saw her.

"Hi Cam," I said smiling.

"My queen," she began to courtesy.

I shook my head, sitting on the bed. "It's Terra to you. Drop the formalities." I said.

I liked her a lot and finding out from my uncle she was an orphan and only seventeen, I wanted her closer. To be someone she could have her utmost dependence on. The pack depended on me I knew that but there was something about Camila, I just couldn't explain.

She blushed. "Beta Phil asked me to send this to you," she said laying a box on the upholstered table. "What is it?" I inquired curiously finally standing up from the bed.

She shook her head indicating she had no idea.

I opened the box and found a white satin dress in it. I took the dress out of the box and I was awed by it. It was indeed beautiful to the extent Camila gasped.

"It's so beautiful," she said softly.

"Yeah, it is," I said barely knowing what to say.

"You'll look good in it my queen," she said and I dropped the dress back in the box.

"I'm not expected to look good Cam,it's not really a wedding of love you see,it's more like a nightmare dressed like a daydream." I sighed sitting on the bed.

She sat beside me holding my hand. "I trust your decision, you know what's best for the people. I don't think it would be that bad if you get married to the blood moon alpha, he's your mate after all," she said.

I scoffed. "He's a living terror," I said in horror. "You haven't met the man, I'm telling you he's.." realizing I was talking too much about him, I kept quiet. She already was looking at me with curious eyes. "I'm just saying he's going to trouble me," I said flatly.

She smiled and sighed. "I just got to be close to you and by tomorrow you'll be leaving."

"Why didn't you come sooner?" I asked her.

"I was scared, you were always on the training ground, always at the front line of the battlefield. It takes a bold person to approach you and I'm not," she said to me.

"But you were brave Camila, you came in that night," I said to her.

"I had to and I swear I almost wet myself," she said laughing and I chuckled.

"Am I that frightful?" I asked her and she shook her head. "Far from that. The thing is you always hung out with Fernandez and you guys looked super tight. I didn't want to come in between you both and then become the third wheel even though I so badly wanted to be close to you." she explained.

"Come here," I said hugging her close. "If you had come then, you won't be a third wheel but all the same, we are still friends okay?" I said and she nodded on my shoulder. "When I get married to the blood moon alpha, I'll take you along with me," I said. She pulled from my arms and looked at me with a surprised look on her face.

"Are you serious?" she asked in excitement.

I nodded smiling. "On the alpha's honor," I said and her eyes glittered with tears as she hugged me tightly. "I am so happy," she said and I placed a kiss on her hair.

Later that evening, I came out of my room and saw the hallway already decorated with flowers and little glowing bulbs displaying different colors.

Fernandez stood at one end of the hall watching the others put up the decorations.

It was beautiful, and I grudgingly accepted. A warmth crept into my heart, despite the fact they hated the idea of this union, they were doing their best to make it memorable. There was going to be a double celebration tomorrow.

My eyes met Fernandez's and he looked away. It was obvious he was still angry.

Staring at all the decorations, I dreaded the next morning.
