Chapter 45: Chapter 45
When Theodore arrived, he found Liara sweating and shaking. Her heart was pounding loudly inside her ribcage, and she wasn't breathing evenly. Hell, she wasn't not even opening her eyes and was crying in pain and fear. He didn't have to study psychology to understand that she was having a nightmare, and the way she cried his name, even in her sleep, made him feel guilty for breaking her trust.
Years back, people used to do that with him, which made him as cruel and heartless as he was now, and now history was repeating itself; the only difference was instead of him, Liara was in his place.
"Hey!!" Liara whispered hoarsely, reaching near him. "I thought you won't come." She added and walked into the room on her bed and grabbed her teddy bear, hugging it tightly, trying to find some comfort. She wouldn't lie, but she wanted to hug that person who was the reason behind her broken state because sometimes only that person has the person to heal the pain that he or she has given. "...just like you didn't come last night to make up for the argument that happened between us." She continued.
"I'm sorry."
"You are?" Liara asked softly, and tears welled up in her eyes again. 'Your lie is hurting me, Theo. If don't be sorry because I know you're not at all sorry.'
"Well, you shouldn't be sorry, okay? Because I know you're the one who brought me here because when I woke up, I was in your sweatshirt. So, thank you, and sorry for talking in that way because if anyone here is to blame, then it's me. It's my mistake that I'm so weak." Liara said calmly so that Theodore wouldn't suspect her that she knew something.
Theodore observed her for a while and felt the spark in her eyes that she used to have around him was missing, but he brushed it away, thinking it was the result of the incident that happened with her last night.
"You okay?" He asked, not knowing what else he should talk about.
"No," Liara shook her head. "What happened last night has shaken me, and because of that, I'm crying at this moment. But I know this incident will make me stronger because my decision to train myself how to fight had become more determined than before." She said, wiping her tears.
"By the way, why are you standing? Come, sit here." She said, patting the bed beside her. "I promise I won't hug you for comfort." She added with a weak smile, knowing very well how he had a habit of either jerking her hands or pulling himself away in such a hurry as if he was touched by fire or something.
Theodore sat where Liara asked him to sit, "Uhh... I don't know what to speak." He muttered.
"How about the reason why are you here?" She asked, and her voice came like a whisper.
'Because I was worried for you. Because I know the trauma that anyone goes through when he or she is sexually assaulted. Because I couldn't stop myself from coming here. Because I didn't want to leave you alone.'
