Chapter 173: Chapter 173
Brandon wanted someone beside him to help him because he was feeling damn too nervous about facing Liara. Both Caroline and Artemis back off by giving the excuse of their work. Brandon had asked them even yesterday, and their words were the same. He didn’t know when they were going to stay busy. All he knew was that Arline’s treatment was very important, and he just couldn’t wait for the day when they would be free from their work.
It wasn’t that Artemis and Caroline were irresponsible parents. They were doing this so that Brandon would face Liara. At the same time, even Brandon knew this part, but he didn’t have any other choice but to escape from this as Arline’s treatments had been going on for the past two years, and none of them was actually working for her. The poison was still in her blood.
Colton’s words about the part that there was no cure for the poison made by his blood had been haunting Brandon for the last two years. He was living in guilt that because of him, Arline was in this condition, even though Artemis and Caroline never blamed him for that.
They believed what happened with Arline could be her destiny and things might would have happened to her for a reason; after all, neither did Brandon will think of harming his granddaughter, nor did Theodore, who would have no benefit in harming a toddler of two years old.
Liara controlled herself from standing on her feet and running toward Arline and her father when they walked in, but she was exactly as nervous as Brandon was. He looked exactly the same as he used to look two years back, but Arline had surely changed a lot. She had grown taller and lost some of the baby fats that she had before.
“Hello,” She whispered, looking at Liara with a small smile. Liara doubted that Arline would recognize her.
“Hello, Princess!!” Liara smiled at her and then looked at Brandon, “Please grab a seat.” She added, on which Brandon helped her to sit on the chair and then sat beside her. She turned her head toward Arline again once she settled on the chair, “So, what is the name of this beautiful Princess?”
“My name is Arline Linda Gosling,” Arline replied in her cute baby tone.
“Arline. A beautiful name just like you.”
“Thank you.” Arline replied before asking, “You look like one of my aunts.” She said, recalling the old pictures of Liara that she had seen from the wedding albums of her parents that she had seen recently. Those pictures were around nine years old. So, Arline couldn’t say exactly if they both were the same person.
“Really?” Liara asked in amusement, to which she nodded her head. Liara smiled and opened the drawer beside her, and grabbed a couple of chocolates, passing them toward her.
“Here!! This is for you.” Liara said, to which Arline looked at Brandon, silently taking his permission, who signaled her to take it. Brandon didn’t miss observing that it was Liara’s favorite chocolate, something that he used to get for her while she was engaged with Arline tightly to create a friendly environment around her, as Arline was also nervous about the thought of revisiting doctors. He carefully looked around until his eyes rested on the nameplate.
[Liara H. Wayne.]
‘I had a very high expectation from you, Lee!! But by choosing this Loser, you have ended everything. I thought you would become a doctor in the future, but you... you left your career, your family, and everything for your mate who is not even of your standards. After marriage or marking the family of a girl change, you changed your whole destiny, Liara Wayne.’
“So, what kind of poison is exactly in her body, da.. Mr. Haysbert?” Liara questioned him after making Arline feel comfortable and asked her to play with the fish that were in the aquarium of her office.
“A poison created with the help of a supernatural hunter,” Brandon responded. No one spoke a thing for a word after that. Liara had a lot of questions in her mind, but she couldn’t ask.
