“It’s a big day for my daughter. Please let me attend the convocation. Just imagine how will you feel when you would get a chance to attend this big day of your pup’s life?” Brandon tried this time by emotionally blackmailing the guard. “I’m not any criminal. You can check my IDs if required. You can also check my clothes.” he added.

The guard sighed, getting emotional by thinking about this situation as a father. “Okay. Tell me the name of your daughter. After checking everything from my end, I can let you go inside.”

Brandon smiled and replied, “Liara Haysbert.”

“Umm….sorry!! But there is no student with this name.” The guard said, checking the list of the students who were allowed to invite their family members, along with the number of family members they had invited.

Brandon immediately recalled what he had said to Liara, ‘After marriage or marking the family name of a girl change, you changed your whole destiny, Liara Wayne.’

“Sorry. I told you the name of my daughter before she got marked by her mate.” Brandon mumbled. “Liara Wayne.” He corrected himself.

“Oh! You’re Doctor Wayne’s father.” The guard said in excitement. “I’m so sorry, Sir. If I would have known that you’re her father, then I wouldn’t have troubled you this much.” he apologized, shocking Brandon.

“You know her?” Brandon asked in shock.

“Who doesn’t?” The guard asked. “Guys, he is Doctor Wayne’s father.” He said to his colleague, who bowed their head in front of Brandon in respect. “I’m sorry for the trouble, Sir. I will ask someone to take you to the place where convocation is held,” he added.

“Hello, Sir!! It’s great to finally meet Doctor Wayne’s father, who has raised his daughter so well.” The other guard, who was about to take Brandon to the auditorium, spoke. Brandon’s chest filled with pride, and he couldn’t express his happiness at that moment.

“Dad!! Why does everyone know me as your daughter?” Young and curious Liara asked her father when she observed that she was recognized as Brandon Haysbert’s daughter rather than Liara Haysbert.

“Because you don’t have an identity of your own, Princess!!”

“What is identity?” Liara questioned.

“Who or what is a person or a thing is” Brandon explained. “For now, you’re nothing without my surname because you don’t have your own identity.”

“One day, I will have my own identity, and then I won’t need your surname,” Liara said to which Brandon chuckled.

“Of course!! You will use your mate’s surname.”

“That’s so wrong, dad. Before getting marked, I will have to live under your identity, and after getting marked, I will have to live under my mate’s identity. Won’t I have my own identity?” She questioned, getting offended.

“I didn’t mean it in a wrong way, sweetheart. Of course, you can have your own identity. And I couldn’t feel prouder when people me acknowledge me as your father rather than Brandon Haysbert.”

“Yayyyyy!!! That’s the plan, dad. I will make you proud. Just like when people meet me and say that you’re Brandon Haysbert’s daughter, in the future, people will look at you and will say, that’s Liara’s father.”

Brandon wiped the tear that fell on his cheek. “I can reach till auditorium on my own. Please continue your job.” he requested, on which the guard didn’t argue and let him go inside the academy finally.

“Mom, come on. Dad went inside.” Caroline whispered. The duo of mother and daughter was waiting for Brandon to go inside so that they could go inside as well. Caroline had changed the scent of both Sophia and her so that they couldn’t get caught by Brandon when they were hidden from him.

Sophia wiped her happy tears and nodded her head. “Yeah!! Let’s go.”

“Why are you crying?” Caroline questioned her.

“Nothing. I just recalled a conversation between Brandon and Lee when she was young.” Sophia replied with a smile.

“I really hope by observing Lee’s success, dad will accept her and Theodore’s relationship,” Caroline muttered. Sophia didn’t comment anything at this part, but how much she knew her husband, she doubted it was going to happen this soon. He didn’t think Theodore was anywhere around his daughter's status. And now that Liara had completed her studies and had achieved her dream, Brandon would get more reason to point out that Liara could have a better future without Theodore.
