Chapter 40: Chapter 40
Prince Damon took long strides from his chamber to the library to see Mr. Theron. He had so many questions to ask him from what had happened the previous night.
Getting to the library, he found Mr. Theron dusting and cleaning some old books from the shelves.
“Mr. Theron.” Damon called, making Mr Theron look up.
“Prince Damon. Good morning.” He answered with a bow, putting the books on the table, so he could pay attention to what the prince had to say.
“I have some questions for you, Mr. Theron, and I’d love for you to be honest with your answers.” Damon uttered, and Mr. Theron nodded slowly, wondering what kind of questions have brought the prince to his abode very early in the morning.
“About last night. How did you do it? Why was Belinda calling Alpha Cephas’ name?” Damon started throwing his questions.
“Because I made her see him instead of me. It’s also called Hallucination, my Prince.”
“I know what hallucinations are, Mr. Theron. But how did you do it? I knew you were a special kind of person, but I never knew you could do dark magic.”
“It isn’t something to be boastful about, My Prince.I had to do it because it was necessary I did it.”
“No, it wasn’t. You put her under a spell. Why did you let father talk you into doing this?”
“I suggested this, my prince. If I didn’t do it, Belinda wouldn’t be here with us today. He would have sent her away, because he was terrified she would ruin everything if she let her rage get to her. I had to prove that she could be controlled. Didn’t that work? It did, my prince. Even though his majesty isn’t content. I still proved my point to…”
“He’s not content? What else do he want? He was looking for an anchor for her, he found one, what else?”
“He doesn’t want you to be her anchor.”
“What? Why?” Damon threw his hand in the air, showing his level of frustration.
“He wants to protect you and Megan from unforeseen circumstances.”
“How many times do we have to tell you nothing is going to happen?! I just proved that to you last night! We are not five. We have been trained to be warriors since we were little. We will be just fine!” Damon asserted.
He kept telling Mr Theron these things because he knew he was the only one that could talk to his father and make him listen.
“He hates the idea of you two sharing a bond so strong. He wants me to find another anchor and I think that’s the best…”
“No, it’s not! I am her anchor, why do you have to go through the stress of getting another anchor for her? Why is it so hard…” Damon cut him off, and then Mr Theron did the same.
“She is your mate, isn’t she?” He butted in, making the words that wanted to come out of Damon’s mouth hook in his throat.
“What?” His voice became drastically low.
“You marked her, Prince Damon. That is why you were able to easily control her at that point in time. I knew Megan wasn’t going to be her anchor, but I couldn’t put it to the king because if he knows you share a bond with her, that will be the end.” Mr. Theron uttered barely above whisper, being conscious of anyone hearing what he was saying.
Prince Damon moved closer and said, “How did you know? When did you find out?”
“I found out when Belinda first came to me. I saw the mark and knew it was you because of how you two looked at each other. I confirmed it last night too. My mouth has been shut because it’s left to you how you want to deal with your father about this. But, if I tell you to stay away from that girl for now, then you have to. If your father knows you’re not just her anchor, but also her mate, then…”
“He’ll send her away?”
“That will be the least thing he could do. You wouldn’t want to know the worst, would you? He wants me to find another anchor, which is almost impossible, but then you need to keep your heads low! People are watching you. Stay away from her until you can prove to your father she’s a good woman to be with.”
Damon gulped hard and nodded. He underestimated the kind of being Mr Theron was.
“You wouldn’t tell my father?”
“You should be the one to break such news to him. Be careful. That’s all I can say to you. Try to hide the mark on her neck as much as possible. Make people forget there was once a rumor about her being marked, and keep your distance if you want to keep her alive and with you. This is my advice for you, Prince Damon.”
Mr Theron walked back to where he placed the hooks, and picked them up one by one as he resumed cleaning them. His eyes were on Damon’s face, watching his every reaction.
“Thank you, Mr Theron. I’ll take my leave now.” He answered and turned to leave. Mr Theron stared at him until he got out of the library.

Getting to King Talos’s chamber, his guards immediately opened the door for Queen Marlena to enter. She saw King Talos, standing in front of his large window. He seemed to be lost in thought.
“My King, you seem so lost in thoughts. What could be the matter?” Queen Marlena asked, as she moved closer to him and embraced him softly from behind.
King Talos let out a deep sigh and turned to look at his Queen. There was sadness on his face, showing how worried he was.
“Marlena.” He called softly, cupping her face in his hands.
“Why are you sad? Is it about last night?”
“Yes. That girl worries me so much. I even had a dream of her destroying the whole kingdom in anger.”
Queen Marlena sighed and shook her head.
“That is never going to happen, you know. If we get rid of her, then all these won’t happen. I don’t want her anywhere close to this family, and now Damon is her anchor. Why him of all people?”
“I thought the same thing. This will only bring them closer, tightening the bond we are trying to break.”
Queen Marlena lifted her hand and caressed King Talos’ face.
“I have been suspecting a kind of special bond between Damon and that girl, and I don’t like it. He is supposed to be with Miss Maisie, and now, he’s succeeded in chasing her away.” Queen Marlena uttered.
“I don’t think he and that girl are more than what we know them as.”
“C’mon, Talos. I am not a stupid woman. If I was stupid, you wouldn’t have married me. Get rid of her as soon as possible, and then we’ll all get what we want.”
“But…” King Talos moved away from the window and began to pace in the middle of him chamber.
“But I can’t just get rid of her until I have a valid reason to. You know how our children can be.”
“Fine. I’ll prove this to you, and promise me you’ll get rid of her and make sure he never gets to think about her again. I’ll prove to you that our son is falling in love with that slave and monster, while you’ll do your own part which is eradicating her from our lives finally.”
“Fine. I await your proof.” King Talos responded as he kept eye contact with his wife.
