Chapter 65: Chapter 65

"WHEN was the last time you experience this, Mr. Henry?"

Dr. Smith asked Gideon beside me.

In a span of twelve hours, we were back in LA.

The headache he experienced yesterday only lasted for ten minutes. After the doctor in Florida said that his headache was connected to his accident before, we decided to take a flight to LA.

"It only happened twice after my last check-up with you."

I turned to him. This had happened to him in the past months?

"The first one, five months ago. The second one was three months ago. I was both in Africa at that time. Both lasted only a few minutes so I didn't bother seeking a doctor."

"Have you remembered something during those attacks?"

"Just vague flashes of memories. The same thing that happened before."

"Nothing changed in your brain. Like I said before, it was in normal activity. Your occasional headache means that your memory could possibly come back."

"But… you've said before that there's a slim chance he'd recover his old memories."

"Slim chance, Mrs. Henry. But I never said that the possibility is zero. No thing's certain, Mrs. Henry. We can't get our hopes high. It might take months or years. He might be able to remember a part, or lose a huge chunk."

"But I just want to make it clear," Gideon said. "This headache is nothing serious, right? I mean, I'm not sick or anything, am I?"

Dr. Smith smiled as he adjusted his glasses. "You have nothing to worry about. Your brain is healthy."

Gideon let out a sigh and smiled. "That's the only thing that is important to me, Doc."

"Those flashes of memories, what are those all about?" I asked when we left the hospital. We were on the way to his parents' house. I'm sure they'll be both surprised.

Gideon turned to me. He was driving the car. Yeah. He could drive now. He said he'd learned again when he was in Africa.

"Just flashes of old memories… Mostly in high school." He gave me a faint smile. "I remembered hanging out in a soccer field, with Charlie… and Diana."

"What about me? No memories about me?" I tried to joke.

Gideon turned to me. "I don't think I want to recover those memories I had with you in the past…"

My face went serious. "The doctor said your memories might come back, Gideon," I said in a small voice. "You've already told me, right? That's even if you finally remembered everything, your feelings for me won't change?"

Gideon cupped me in the face. "Sweetheart, you have nothing to worry about. Even if my memories come back to me, nothing will change between us." His fingers caressed my cheek. "I love you. That will never change."

"Have you talked to Charlie… after I left?" Gideon asked when dropped by the family mausoleum.

He placed the bouquet of flowers on the marble tombstone.

I nodded. "He apologized, but he said the truth was inevitable. That was the last time we talked… I didn't know where he is right now."

"The last time I heard from Mom, he's in Asia. I tried to talk to him before I left, but he refused to talk to me. "Did you tell him the truth, Bianca?"

I shook my head. "No…" I whispered. "I didn't have the courage to tell him the truth… I didn't have the chance to tell Charlie… " I looked through the car's window. I saw the familiar jacaranda trees as we passed by the hospital premises.

"If we see him again… will you finally tell him the truth?"

My head went back to Gideon. "What if he's already moved on from me, Gideon? Telling him the truth would only bring back the past. Bringing back the past would only bring up his pain, Gideon." I shut my eyes for a moment. "I've already hurt him enough."

I heard Gideon let out a sigh. "We've already hurt him enough. Let's just hope… that he's already moved on."

And I hope he'd already found the right woman who deserves him. So that one day, he would be able to forgive us.

"I promised to love your mother unconditionally, little angel," Gideon said to my daughter's tomb. "You have nothing to worry about over there."

It's been more than a year since I lost her…  I might have been able to move on from the past, but the pain of losing her was still there.

Gideon pulled me beside him. I felt him plant a kiss on the side of my head.

"We missed you, Bianca!" Kelly muttered in delight before pulling me in a hug.

I decided to visit the shop that afternoon. Kelly and Jeff were still working there. They introduced me to Pia who replaced me when I resigned from the job.

"Tell us what we missed about you," Kelly said, asking me to sit on the couch. Jeff was listening to us from the counter.

"I went back to New York after my marriage got divorced."

Her eyes widened. "You two really got a divorce?"

I pursed my lips. "Yeah… Gideon and I were separated for six months. But we got back together. Just last week, we got married again."

I said, showing her my left hand.

"Oh," Kelly gasped while examining the rings on my finger. "I knew it!" She turned to me, her lips in a wide smile.

"I witnessed both of you being so in love with each other. That's why I couldn't believe what I've read before that Gideon Henry's already divorced."

I pursed my lips. "Well, we really did get divorced, but we're back again. This time, no more breaking up. All are issues we're already settled on." I smiled at her. "In fact, we're planning another wedding here in LA, you're all invited."

Kelly hugged me again. "I'm happy for you, Bianca."

"Oh my gosh! Really?" Kelly asked like she couldn't believe what I just said.

I nodded, grinning. "Yeah. But only if you agreed to be Jeff's date for the wedding," I said, teasing her.

To my surprise, Kelly grinned at me. "Oh, I forgot to tell you… Jeff and I are already dating."

This time, it was me whose mouth formed an o. "Really?" I glanced at Jeff at the counter. The man grinned at me.

"Well, Kelly finally confesses her feelings to me."

"Shut up! It was you who admitted that you're head over heels in love with you. Remember when we celebrated Bianca's first month at work? You kissed me on the way home? Then you pretended to be drunk."

My eyes widened. Oh, wow. So that's what happened that night.

"I'm on my way," Gideon said on the phone. I pursed my lips while watching Kelly and Jeff still flirting at the counter.

Gideon came from a meeting with the company's board of directors.

After this, we'd go home to our house in Pasadena. It would be the first time I'd see it after I left LA. I'm excited to see how it looks now after the renovation.

We stayed the whole night yesterday at the Henry mansion in Huntington. Amelia didn't allow us to leave their place last night.

Fifteen minutes later, Gideon came with a bunch of flowers in his hand.

"How's the meeting?" I asked after he greeted Kelly and Jeff. "Did you experience any headaches?"

Gideon smiled. "No headaches. I'm perfectly fine, sweetheart." He pulled me close to him and planted a soft kiss on my temple. "Come on. Let's go. I'm starving."

We bid Kelly and Jeff goodbye.

"Visit us again, Bianca," Kelly said, pulling me for another hug.

"Of course, I'll come again. I still have invitations to give, remember—" I stopped when the wind chime rang, and a familiar man entered the room.

"Bianca?"
