Chapter 66: Chapter 66
"WHAT'S this, Gideon?" I asked my husband after he suddenly covered my eyes.
I was getting ready for our dinner with his parents when he asked me to turn my back on him. The next thing I knew, I could no longer see.
"Come on, sweetheart," Gideon said, not answering my question. But I could hear the amusement in his voice.
"Just tell me what it is that you prepared for me," I asked him when he guided me to the car.
I pouted my lips when I felt him put on the seat belt on me. "What is it, Gideon?"
Gideon chuckled. "It'll no longer be a surprise if I tell you what it is?"
I cocked my brow. "Are you going to bring me to another vacation house? Maybe in Palm Springs, this time?"
"No, Bianca," he said, amused. "But now that you've mentioned it, a house in Palm Springs sounds like a good idea."
I cocked my head to the left and frowned. "Shut up, Gideon. We already have three houses. We don't need another one."
Gideon held my hand and brought it to his lips. He planted a soft kiss on my knuckles. "Stay still, sweetheart. We're just going to our house in Pasadena, okay?"
We've already been here in LA for three days now, but we haven't gone home to his house in Pasadena.
"Oh, then why do you need to put me in a blindfold?"
"Because they suggested it..." I heard him answer.
My brows furrowed. "They?"
"Uh, mom."
"But you said they..."
He cleared his throat. "My parents, I mean." I felt his hand on mine. "Come on, sweetheart. We're almost here."
A few moments later when I felt the car finally stop.
"We're here, Bianca," Gideon said as he took off my seat belt for me.
"Is this really our house in Pasadena?"
"Yeah."
"Really?" I asked, doubtful. "I felt like we're more than an hour on the road."
Gideon's soft chuckle filled my ears. "It's only thirty minutes, baby."
Gideon helped me get out of the car. He held my hand and guided me on the way.
"Are there people inside?" My eyes widened when I heard some voices of people.
"Your parents?" Is that why I haven't seen Amelia the whole day?
Instead of answering, I felt Gideon push something. Then he went to my back.
Slowly, he removed my blindfold on me.
"Welcome to our home, sweetheart."
Gideon whispered softly, his arms encircling my waist.
My eyes widened when I looked around.
"Oh, wow," I couldn't help but mutter in delight.
The entire living room looked completely different from before. The interiors are light and modern. All the furniture from before got replaced by new ones.
"Oh. There's our portrait." My lips pursed when I saw a huge portrait on the wall. It was our wedding in New York.
I was smiling at the camera while Gideon was hugging me from the back.
"I had shipped the other day," Gideon said behind me, placing a soft kiss on my neck.
"What can you say, sweetheart?" Gideon loosened his arms on my waist.
I used that to turn around and face him.
"Your interior designer's good."
"Penny?"
I slightly rolled my eyes and nodded at him.
He chuckled. "What? Until now, you're still jealous?"
I frowned. "Shut up. I'm not. Where are your parents?"
"They're outside. In the garden. Do you want to go outside or do you want to see the rooms first?"
I pursed my lips. "Let's go outside. We shouldn't keep your parents waiting there!"
He raised his brow. "Wait. I have a surprise for you."
My eyes widened. "What surprise?"
"Come, sweetheart." He winked and led me to the kitchen. I realized that even the kitchen got renovated. It looked more spacious and classy than before.
"I thought you had a surprise for—" My words were cut off when I saw a brown bloodhound puppy on the tiled floor.
"Oh my God." I blinked as I slowly walked to the cute little dog.
"Is this your surprise for me?" I said, looking at Gideon who was behind me.
"Yeah. I remember you had a dog before right? A brown bloodhound?"
"Uhuh..." I crouched at the dog in front of me. My eyes widened when he opened his eyes and wagged his tail on me.
"Where did you get him, Gideon? He's still too young..." I said, not tearing my eyes off the dog.
"I got him from the animal shelter. The staff told me that his mother died a week after he was born. I decided to get him to give him a new home..."
"Oh..." I muttered. "I'm sorry about what happened to your mom, little bean," I said, softly caressing the puppy's head. "Don't worry, you're safe here with us."
A smile appeared on my lips when he responded to my touch.
"I remember your story to me..." Gideon said, he was smiling while looking at the puppy on my arm.
"Thank you, Gideon," I smiled at him, my eyes a bit misty with tears. "I love him already."
I've always wanted a dog. But I'm just worried that I couldn't take care of him properly because I live alone.
He placed his hand on the puppy's head. "Your old dog, what was his name again?"
"Saturn." I glanced at the puppy in my arms. He reminded me of my old dog. Well, they were the same breed.
"Saturn?"
I pursed my lips. "It's Dad's favorite planet."
"Your Dad has a favorite planet?"
"Yeah. He's weird."
"What should we name him?" Gideon asked.
I turned to him. "Give him a name, Gideon."
"Me?"
I grinned at him. "Yeah. It was you who brought him here."
He paused as if he was thinking something. "Pluto," he said. "Let's name him Pluto."
I raised my brow. "You have a favorite planet?" I jested.
"No." He chuckled. "But Pluto sounds like a good name for a dog, doesn't it?"
A minute later, we went out to the garden. My eyes widened when I saw the people waiting for us. It wasn't his parents.
It was Helen. Then Hanna. Rory. Kelly and Jeff's. Even Martin's here!
"Happy housewarming, Bianca," Kelly said, handing me a small bonsai tree on a pot.
"Thanks for today, Gideon," I glanced at Gideon who was beside me. We were already in bed.
Helen was staying in the guest room.
"Hmm… I'm glad you liked it," he said before placing a kiss on my temple.
I looked at him and raised my brows. "So, you're no longer jealous of Martin?"
I remembered how he spoke to Martin earlier. And also the other day, when we saw him at the bookstore.
He pursed his lips and equally raised his brow at me. "You're already mine so why would I?"
