Chapter 37: Chapter 37

OH… SHIT! I whispered in my head when I woke up that morning.

I blinked as I looked at Gideon's face which was only a few inches away from mine.

How did we end up like this? I literally woke up facing Gideon. My arm was wrapped around his body. My face was only inches away from him.

How… how did we end up like this? I remembered last night after we arrived home from the movie house, we already went straight to bed.

I clearly remembered sleeping on the left side of this bed, away from him. But how…

"It was obvious it was you who moved closer, Bianca," I silently told myself.

I was even the one hugging Gideon, for Pete's sake!

I bit my lower lip and slowly entangled my arm from his body.  I let out a sigh of relief when I was able to successfully remove my hand from him.

Good thing I woke up first before him. What would he say to me if he saw what I did?

I stared at Gideon who was still sleeping peacefully beside me.

"Damn…" I whispered in my head. He looked gorgeous even when sleeping. Those thick and long lashes, that perfect nose and cheekbone, those small stubbles on his jaw.

My eyes widened when Gideon suddenly moved.

"Shit!" I whispered a curse and I immediately shut my eyes and pretended to be asleep.

He was already awake. I told myself when I felt him move beside me.

"Good morning, wife."

I heard Gideon's voice and I swore, my heart almost stopped beating.

Did Gideon know that I'm already awake?

No. I'm sure he has no idea. I was sure he's still asleep when I woke up earlier.

I remained paralyzed on the bed with my eyes closed.

I'd rather pretend to be sleeping than wake up next to him. He'd tease me for moving close to him, for sure!

Yeah. I'd rather—

My thoughts were suddenly cut off when I felt his lips on my forehead. This time, I could literally hear my loud heartbeat.

Gideon… kissed me. In the forehead!

"What the hell!" I muttered the moment I heard the closing of the bedroom door.

Gideon had already left the room.

I stared at the white dark ceiling with my lips parted. He kissed me!

My hand absentmindedly reached for my forehead. I could still feel his lips there.

"Does he always do that in the morning?" I asked, knowing that he always wakes up earlier than me these past few days.

I closed my mouth and bit my lower lip. I didn't know what to feel. I should be mad at him, right? He took advantage of me!

But we're married… so…

"Good morning!" Gideon greeted me when I went to the kitchen. He was already having his coffee.

I looked at him, and immediately remembered what he did before leaving the room.

"G-good morning."

Damn! Why was I suddenly stuttering?

"Coffee, Bianca?" he asked, slightly raising the pot of coffee in front of him.

I cleared my throat. I wanted to confront him for kissing me, but all I was able to do was nod at him.

"Yes, thanks."

"Are you okay, Bianca?" Gideon asked, looking at my face. "Is there something wrong?"

I blinked, then shook my head. "N-nothing."

His eyes lingered on me. "Really?"

I picked up my cup of coffee. "Yeah. Just woke up on the wrong side of the bed."

I bit my lower lip the moment those words slipped off me.

I noticed Gideon slightly raise his brow. Shit. Did he notice that I hugged him last night?

I was waiting for him to tease me or something, but that didn't happen.

"Can you go to work today?" he asked instead, concern was written on his face.

"Of course!" I answered. "I'm not sick or anything. Besides, I'll just get bored here if I stay in the house."

Gideon pursed his lips. "Well, I'll stay here at home, too. We can watch movies or something."

I cleared my throat. "No. I'm going to work." I took another dip of my coffee before I stood up. "I'm going to prepare our breastfast now."

"DO you have something to do this weekend, Bianca?"

I was busy stacking the books in the young adult section of the bookstore when I heard Kelly say beside me.

She was leaning on the shelf while checking on her nails. It was painted black. I remembered it was red the other day.

I stopped what I was doing and turned to her. "Hmm. What is it this weekend?"

She smiled at me. "Jeff and I were planning to watch the new Marvel movie on Sunday. Do you want to come with us?" Her face crumpled. "I don't think I can stand Jeff for three hours."

I pursed my lips and stifled a smile. It seemed like a date to me.

Well, these two had a love-and-hate relationship with each other. I was already used to witnessing them bicker about each other, and it was kind of sweet in my eyes.

"Oh. I'm sorry, Kelly. I can't go with you two." I gave her a small smile. "I already watched the movie."

Her eyes slightly widened. "Really? When?"

I pursed my lips. "Last night."

She blinked. "Oh, with your husband? That's where you two went after he fetched you from work?"

I nodded. "Uh… yeah. We went to the movie house last night."

"So, was it good?"

My eyes widened a little. "What's good?"

Kelly chuckled at me. "The movie, of course. Come on, Bianca. What else do you think I was asking about? Your husband's kiss? Did you two kiss at the movie house?"

I blinked. Then I felt my cheeks heat up with her teasing. "We don't do that, Kelly. Especially not in a Marvel movie."

Kelly just grinned. "Well, you sounded guilty."

I cleared my throat. "I'm not just used to being teased." Especially with Gideon.

"I hope you're not annoyed with me," Kelly said, pursing her lips.

I shook my head a little and chuckled. "Don't worry, I'm not."

Kelly and Jeff were both friendly people. I was glad I got along with them just fine. They reminded me of my workmates from NYPL.

"Wow. Someone sent us food for lunch!"

Jeff announced when we temporarily closed the store during lunchtime.

"Oh." Kelly's eyes widened as she watched the take-out bag that the delivery rider handed to Jeff. The delivery came from Il Fornaio, one of the famous pasta restaurants here in the city. Where Gideon and I dined the other night.

"Is it from Rory?"

"Nah. I don't think so," Jeff shook his head. "Rory's nice, but she would never send us lunch from a Michelin-star restaurant."

"Come on, look for the receipt, Jeff. I want to make sure that it's really for us." Kelly said. "We need to make sure where it came from. We don't know if that food is safe or something. Maybe it's poisoned."

"Wow. You're morbid, Kelly."

"Well, it's better to be safe than sorry, Jeff."

I cleared my throat as I looked at the bunch of food in front of us. There was gourmet pizza, steak and mushrooms, gelato, and most of all, there was a pan of truffle pasta, my favorite.

I cleared my throat and looked at my two workmates. "Guys, I think I knew where it came from."
