Chapter 80: Chapter 80
Xiaozi flew with Du You all the way to the large lake. It must be said that the lake was indeed vast, at least ten kilometers in diameter, so large that one couldn’t see the edges from the ground.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t a deep lake, but more of a swamp-like environment, which meant it was abundant with life.
From above, Du You spotted several groups of Plesiosaurs, living together. In this place, creatures such as Plesiosaurs were rarely disturbed by others.
On land, there were Terror Crocodiles, smaller crocodiles, and turtles – species Du You didn’t recognize.
Around the swamp, different types of dinosaurs appeared frequently. They came to drink, often encountering attacks or engaged in fights amongst themselves. The number of dinosaurs here was quite significant.
Du You also found some herds of herbivorous dinosaurs nearby, which should be a considerable gain.
"Good, Xiaozi, let’s land over there, be careful not to startle the dinosaurs. Let’s start from that side." Du You casually picked out a somewhat concealed place and had Xiaozi land there.
Du You landed on the ground while Xiaozi remained in the air.
Based on the locations of various dinosaur groups he just remembered, Du You prepared to approach the herd of Stegosauruses from his memory.
Stegosauruses had tough skin and weren’t weak, but their mobility was very poor, perfect for his hunting. The group of Stegosauruses consisted of more than a dozen of them. He planned to kill them first.
Du You cautiously approached the area, but suddenly he sensed danger.
Without thinking, Du You instinctively launched a Magic Missile towards the perceived threat.
The next moment, Du You realized a fireball had flown out of nowhere, which was exploded mid-air by his Magic Missile.
"Who’s there?" Dinosaurs wouldn’t throw fireballs, at least none he had seen so far could. If someone was throwing fireballs here, it could only be a human. Du You hadn’t expected that a human would attack him.
Although he had heard often that in the Derived World there were no laws and confrontations between professionals were not uncommon, hearing about it was different from experiencing it firsthand.
"You react quickly, boy. Hand over everything you have with you and we’ll let you leave. Otherwise, you’ll die here today." From a distance, a man emerged and stared arrogantly at him.
He noticed several people slowly poking their heads out from the surroundings but not showing themselves fully, which sent a chill down Du You’s spine. There were at least ten of them, a rather large group. Were such large groups common among the first arrivals?
"Are you planning to rob me? That’s against the rules."
"Rules? Hahaha, without evidence, who can hold us accountable? There are no surveillance cameras here like in the cities. No matter what we do, who can stop us?"
Another man spoke up loudly, "Don’t think about running, boy. You’ll need at least three seconds to submit the task and leave. With so many of us here, three seconds is more than enough to kill you."
Du You hadn’t expected these people to be so prepared.
"I almost forgot, you’ve just attacked and are now in a battle status. You can’t submit tasks during the battle. I didn’t think of it just now. Boy, do you still want to leave?"
As he spoke, another arrow flew towards Du You. Even though he managed to dodge it, he was still stuck in the battle state. Follow current novels on 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩✶𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚✶𝕟𝕖𝕥
He had never realized such a rule existed. Du You glanced at his status panel, indeed, he couldn’t submit his task while he was in a battle. But couldn’t the same be said for them?
"Someone told me, if I encounter a robber in the Derived World and have the chance, I should definitely kill them."
"Really? Do you have the capabilities to do so, boy? Enough nonsense, hurry and hand over your things."
These people seemed to be losing their patience. Du You too didn’t want to waste time talking. The reason he was stalling was to get a clearer picture of their setup. Now that he understood, he knew there were eleven of them in total and only three were ranged attackers.
Among them was the one who had shot the fireball, and the other two were archers. Just as his teacher had told him, there were indeed very few Mages among the professionals. Coupled with the fact that Mages started off weak and had difficulty progressing, the proportion of Mages among the Awakeners was actually very low.
The most critical part was, these three guys were staying together, presenting an opportunity for him.
In the sky, Xiaozi, surrounded by violet thunder and lightning, swooped down like a shooting star, instantly tearing through the void. Following a scream of terror, the Mage had his head torn apart first. None of these people were good. If he handed over the items, chances were he would still not survive.
Du You had heard of many such incidents, so there was no need to show mercy to such people.
"What’s going on?" The others were wondering, they hadn’t expected to be the ones under attack.
While they were still stunned, two archers were killed by Xiaozi.
"Hahaha, of course it’s time for you to pay the price." Du You sneered, as the brown bear suddenly landed on a Warrior. The weight, combined with a heavy swipe, knocked another one out.
Without hesitation, Du You unleashed a Disintegration Spell. The representative who had come forward was hit in the abdomen, instantly shattered into several pieces, his eyes filled with regret and unwillingness.
In an instant, Du You had killed five of them, leaving only six.
"Damn, we’ve encountered a tough one." The remaining people finally realized something was wrong. But by then, it was too late for regret.
Du You fired off consecutive spells without hesitation, and in the blink of an eye, two of the remaining men exposed before him were killed. Xiaojin took the opportunity to kill two more. Only the brown bear wasn’t powerful enough to kill anyone.
Du You found out the dreaded and despised robbers of the Derived World were not as powerful as they seemed. Before him, they appeared very fragile. After the first face-off, only two were left standing.
Noting they couldn’t escape, their spirits completely collapsed. One of them, a man with a lewd look, threw his weapon on the ground and knelt down, "I surrender, don’t kill me, I surrender."
The other man, wrapped in a black cloak, stood there aimlessly, not uttering a word. It was unclear whether he didn’t want to speak or was too scared to do so.
