Chapter 45: Chapter 45

"Maeve?" September called out confused when he saw her rummaging through his drawers.

"Yes, hon?" Maeve answered immediately and left his drawer.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm planning to clean up your office, by the way I forgot to asked you if it's okay. Sorry for rummaging through your things like that," she said, clearing off the suspicions he just acquired.

Lately, his wife has been busy about things and was unusually sweet and caring. He chose to think that it was because she had learned to love him.

It should be.

He was staring at his wife for a bit longer before she smiled at him and gently cling her arms on his.

"Were you mad? I'm sorry, I'm not---"

"It's okay," he said smiling before he tenderly caressed her face.

"It's alright. Do what you want," he said dotingly.

And he saw something in her eyes that he didn't want to think about.

He saw guilt.

But it immediately shifted into a happy expression as she dragged him towards the kitchen.

"What do you want to eat?" She asked while checking their refrigerator.

"Anything," September answered while staring at her back.

He didn't want to be suspicious of her. He wanted to give her all of his trust. She already said she loves him. She even gave herself to him. And he believes her.

No matter what she says, he'll believe her.

"Maeve..." He called out.

Maeve looked back at him with questioning eyes.

"I love you," his wife's lips parted for a while before it slowly curved into a smile.

She closed the door of the refrigerator before she walked towards him and comfortably sat on his lap as her arms went around his nape.

"You know I love you too, right?" She asked while beaming.

September stared at her face for awhile before nodding and setting her hair behind her ears.

"I do..." He muttered.

He then put his arms around her waist and seek comfort by snuggling his face between her neck and shoulders. He immediately felt her hands playing with his hair.

"What's wrong?" She asked worriedly.

September shook his head and just tightened his grip on her waist.

"Hey, what's wrong?" She asked once again but September refused to speak and silently sighed.

"She's been checking the estates and properties under your name," Falcon reported which made September stopped in the middle of signing some papers.

"Who?" He asked, acting like he didn't know who the butler was pertaining to.

"Sir---"

"Who?" He asked as he finally let his pen down as he looked up to face his butler.

"Your wife sir,"

"Did I asked you to look into her?" He asked in a calm voice, but a storm has started surging inside him.

"No, sir. But---"

"Then stop." He said cutting off his butler.

"But sir, she's probably up to some--" Falcon stopped talking when he saw his boss sigh.

He knew.

He knew something is happening.

He knew something is wrong.

"Why won't you make a move?" He asked. Gone all his honorifics. He's now asking not as an employee nor his butler. He was asking as his friend.

"September," Falcon called out in a serious tone.

"I know what I'm doing, Falcon. Don't worry. Just let her do whatever she wanted."

"But you've worked hard for those things..."

September gave out a tired smile after hearing Falcon's statement.

Yes. He had worked hard for those. And those are for his family. Maeve and Fiona is his family.

"Don't turn a blind eye, September."

"Just let her be, Falcon. What's mine is hers too." He said dismissing the topic.

"Daddy, will you accompany us tomorrow?" September looked at his wife to ask what's up for tomorrow.

"It's almost time for her to attend school. We're going to a kindergarten tomorrow, are you free?" She asked while putting foods on his plate.

"Sure," he answered immediately before turning to his daughter with a smile.

"Our princess' going to school already," he said smiling as he playfully ruffled Fiona's hair before directing his attention back to his food.

He wanted to asked her about the thing Falcon told him. He wanted to ask her why she was looking up with his properties. He wanted to tell her that if she wanted something she could just say it and he's very much ready to give everything for her.

"By the way, I've been looking up to some of the properties under your name," September's lips parted in surprised when Maeve actually opened up the topic herself.

"Really? Why?" He asked, acting like he really didn't care.

"I'm looking for a great place for our reception." Maeve immediately passed him a glass of water when he suddenly choke while eating.

He was so startled that he wasn't able to properly chew his food.

"I'm sorry, come again?" He said after a while.

"Be careful," Maeve scolded before returning to her seat.

"Anyway, I've started contacting some wedding planners and we had started with some details. Please let me know when your schedule is clear. Let's go check some other stuffs together," Maeve said smiling tenderly.

September was lost staring at her pretty face.

Was this what's keeping her busy lately?

And he even dared to doubt her?

What an asshole!

He was silently scolding himself as he returned her smile.

"Let me know when you needed me. I can always do something with my sched," he said smiling.

"You have a lot of properties under your name. Do you have any personal favorite? I'm having a hard time sorting them out,"

September chuckled when Maeve pouted a bit as her forehead creased while enumerating the places she took in consideration.

"I'd prefer a garden wedding but if you want something else we can---"

"I'm okay with a garden wedding. As long as you're my bride, anywhere is fine." He said, his smile never leaving his face.

"Smooth talker," Maeve teased that made him chuckle.
