Chapter 44: Chapter 44
"Sir," Falcon stood on September's right side after giving him a clear folder containing all the files and records he asked for.
The whole conference room was filled with tension.
For the past few months this tension filled situation was very much absent and the whole building was so much livelier than ever.
Who would expect that their happy and carefree days were short-lived?
"Did you enjoy the lenient days?" September asked with a smirk.
Nobody had the guts to answer nor breath inside the room.
Only Chris and Falcon seems to be at lax as they stood beside the great manipulator.
Everybody almost had a mini heart attack when September suddenly stood up from his chair and walked up to the ceiling-to-floor window. It overlooks the whole city.
The sun's about to set and the shining sun almost blinded the people who were wearily staring at September's back. They were watching his every move as if he'll throw a dagger at one of them anytime.
"I was silent for months..." He started, still looking over the huge window.
"I was waiting who would be the first one to move," he added as he gave his audience a sideway glance with an evil smirk plastered on his face.
"And you didn't disappoint me, Mrs. Kim."
Everybody on the table turned to the woman who was silently seated on one of the chairs. It was a shock for everyone.
Mrs. Kim wasn't one to do something bad behind September's back. She was one of the original and first generation board members of the company. She's one of the first people to trust September when things was still rough.
They watch the fifty-something woman smiled a bit towards the manipulator, who was currently grinning.
He was just grinning but everyone can feel their legs and hands trembling.
"So you knew?" The old woman asked calmly.
"Of course,"
"I thought you got rusty amd all upon having a family of your own," Mrs. Kim said with a ghost of a knowing smile on her face.
Everyone's looking back and fort as the duo exchange meaningful banters. And the longer the banter takes, the faster the tension in the room builds.
"Chris?" September called out while handing an empty hand on his assistant.
Chris Jhons took out another separate folder and hand it over his empty palm. Everyone thought it was a share withdrawal document and they suddenly felt bad for the old woman.
Can't September just let it passed? Mrs. Kim was with him from the start, how could he disregard just because she made a mistake?
How heartless!
People are thinking all the same and it was all written on their face. Everybody looked disappointed as September hand in the share withdrawal document.
"You really haven't changed a bit," the woman pointed out as she stood and get the document from him.
Mrs. Kim was about to open the folder when one of the holders stood up bluntly. Everybody turned to look at him.
"September! How dare you do this to my mom?! She was here right from the start! How could you just set her aside just after a few mistake?!" Terry, Mrs. Kim's son said furiously.
September's brow shot up as he starrd boredly at the man who keeps babbling about him being an ungrateful jerk.
"Aren't you done yer?" September asked as he took a quick glance on his pocket.
"Didn't you hear me?!"
"Of course, I did. With all tnose babbling who wouldn't hear you." September faked a yawn and movie hos eyes around sleepily before turning to Mrs. Kim.
The old woman nodded before she walked towards her son, the document on her hands.
Everyone stared at her cautiously.
Now, this is something.
"Mom?"
"You kept on babbling things, you brat." Mrs. Kim handed him the document to his confusion. He took it carefully as he squinted back and fort from his mom to September.
He opened the folder in front of everyone and read what was written in it. The further he reads the more his forehead creases.
"What the hell is this?!" He asked. He furiously threw the documents on the ground as he tried to charge towards September who remained unbothered.
"Charlie," Mrs. Kim called out in a cold voice which made her son stop.
"You made this to your self. Scram," Charlie stared at his mom in disbelief.
"You reported me?"
"No need to report you. He already knew what you were up to months ago,"
Charlie's eyes shifted to September who was staring back at him in a challenging manner.
"What can I say? The manipulator's back to business," he said cockily before he looked around the room and ended the meeting.
He left the room first, followed by Chris and Falcon.
"Falcon,"
"Sir?"
"Keep an eye on Charlie," he said quietly that only the three of them could hear.
"Yes, sir." Falcon responded with a nod.
September entered his office and found his wife seated in his chair, facing her laptop and Fiona playing on the corner of his office. A smile immediately broke into his face.
"I didn't know you'll be here," he said as he walked towards Maeve and kissed her forehead. She immediately looked up and smiled at him.
"Chris texted that you had a rough day," she said softly as she ruffled his hair.
"I should give him a raise this month," he said jokingly before he stood straight and called Fiona who was still oblivious of his presence.
"Fiona," the child's head immediately shot up after hearing her dad's voice and left her toys without second thoughts as she ran towards him.
"Brace yourself," Maeve said as she shook her head with a smile.
"Daddy!" She squealed gleefully which made September laughed.
"How's your day? Did you give Mommy a hard time?" He asked as he softly caressed her hair.
"No! I'm a good girl. Right, Mommy?" Maeve chuckled while nodding.
"Yeah. She's a good girl who asked for almost a gallon of ice cream," Fiona's eyes widened when she heard her Mom refused to cooperate.
"What? No ice cream for a week for you," September said in a stern voice.
Fiona nodded dejectedly while Maeve laughed at the scene before her.
