Chapter 43: Chapter 43

"Daddy!" Fiona's squeals welcomed September and Maeve as soon as they entered the house. The three-year-old kid ran and jumped into her father's arms.

"You didn't go home last night! I missed you!" Fiona said as she reached out to her mom too. Maeve beamed and took the child from September.

"Really? I'm sorry, Daddy and I got busy so we weren't able to went home last night,"

"Yes, baby. They were busy making babies." Hillary cut in as she entered the living room with a pack of crushed nuts in her hands.

"Hillary!"

"You know how to make babies Mommy? How are they made?" The child asked with her eyes wide with curiosity.

Maeve glared at her sister who just laughed at her before grabbing the black bag on the couch and immediately took her leave to escape her sister's wrath.

"Mommy?" Fiona called out when she didn't answer. She turned around to face September with a helpless look on her face.

September chuckled before taking the child from her.

"How 'bout you get dress and let's head out for dinner?" He asked enthusiastically to distract the child from her previous inquiry. Which worked immediately when the child asked him to let her down. She then went up to her room to get change.

"I'll take a quick shower," September said with a smile before he went up to their room too.

Maeve entered Fiona's room and helped the child get ready. She had already showered and prepared at her apartment earlier unlike September who wasn't able to bring extra clothes.

She mentally noted to bring extra clothes for him next time.

"There you go! Our pretty princess!" She complimented after neatly placing the mini tiara on Fiona's head.

"I'm pretty?" The child ask as she held both of her cheeks and tried the 'beautiful eyes' trick her Aunt Hillary taught her.

Maeve chuckled and gently pinched her puffed cheeks.

"Yes, you are," she answered with a smile.

"Like you, Mommy?" The girl asked with a hopeful eyes and smile.

"Yes, baby. Just like Mommy," she replied as she rain small kisses on her daughter's cheeks making the little girl giggle gleefully.

"Looks like my queen and my princess is enjoying without me," Fiona giggled once more before she ran towards the door where September is.

"Fiona, for real? Who do you love the most? Mommy or Daddy?" Maeve asked, pretending to be sulking.

Fiona, who was now on the arms of September acted like she was thinking. She even had her pointing finger tap on her puffy cheeks from time to time. This action made the couple laugh.

"I've decided!" The kid announced after Maeve had finally secured the laces of her shoes.

"Really? So who do you love more?" She asked once again while hiding a smile.

"I love Mommy!" Maeve laughed heartily as she watched September's contorted face.

"Girl power!" The three-year-old cheered as she raised her fist in the air.

September's contorted face slowly descended into a soft smile as he watched his wife and daughter laughing.

This is the kind of life he'll never dare to dream before.

It was as if all those years of struggle and loneliness finally paid off. The happiness and contentment their little family gives is already enough to last him a lifetime.

"Slowly Fiona..." He reminded as his daughter ran along with the other kids in a kids zone. Maeve was silently seated beside him, head resting on his shoulder.

He moved his arms to have it around her shoulders as they both watched Fiona running around.

"Fiona might grow up as a brat you know?" She asked in a sharp tone before she gave him a sideway glare.

They finished eating dinner and Fiona saw the kid zone as they were walking to let their food to be digested. Maeve denied the request saying that it's too late and they should just go home.

But September's weak with Fiona's sad face so he insisted to stay just a bit longer to let her play.

"She won't. We will be here to guide her all throughout." He said which made Maeve snorted.

"Did you just mocked me?" September asked in disbelief as he moved a bit away from his wife to be able to see her face-to-face.

"You can't even say no to her," she pointed out.

September opened his mouth to say something, to rebutt a bit but he can't even find the words to say.

Because... Who can say no to his princess? He's willing to give them the world if he can so why can't she do the things she wanted to do?

"See?" Maeve pointed out, satisfied that she had proved a point. She moved back into his arms and snuggled inside their embrace.

Usually, parents just leaves their children inside the kids zone to let them play while the parents busied themselves doing something else. But here they are, seated on the waiting area. Maeve smiled when she saw someone coming.

"Can we join her?" Maeve asked a staff who happened to passed by them.

The staff just placed some sort of bracelet on their hands with some of their information before they were ushered inside.

When Fiona saw her parents entered the room, a squealing laughter filled the room.

"Daddy!" She called out as she swam across an ocean of balls.

"And she claims that she loves me more when all she calls out for was you," Maeve whispered making him smile as he crouched a bit to welcome his running daughter in his arms.

"Are we going home?" She asked then she directed her gaze at her mom.

"Nope. We still have a few more hours to burn. Come'n lets play!" Maeve said smiling as she dived into the ocean of balls.

September put Fiona down so that they can join Maeve in playing too.

"Mommy! Daddy's a monster!" Fiona's screaming as she ran away from September who's pretending to be a monster chasing her. Maeve waited for Fiona to reached her before they ran together.

"Got you!" Maeve and Fiona laughed when they felt September's arm around them.

"The monster got us baby," Maeve said laughing.
