Chapter 36: Chapter 36
"You're married and are both financially stable. Plus the fact that you were the one to rescue the kid from that woman, that makes you the strongest candidate to be her parents. The only question is that...are you ready to be one? I know you haven't been married that long yet and you'd probably want to enjoy your marriage with just the two of you. So I'll really understand if you---"
"Can we think about it?" Maeve asked cutting Celeste's sentiments.
Celeste stared at her before her gaze fell on her friend who was now staring at his wife too. After a few seconds of silence, Celeste stood up from the couch and sighed.
"Alright, think about this. This is a life changing decision anyway. Call me whenever you made up your mind." She smiled at them, tapped September's left shoulder before she made her way out of the hospital suite.
The couple was left in silence as Maeve's stares never leaves the child.
"Do you... Do you think I can be a mom?" Her voice was weak and it sounded more like of a whisper but since September was just standing beside her, he was able to hear it.
"Are you considering it?" He asked back. Maeve caressed the child's head one more time before she looked up to meet her husband's soft gaze.
"You want it don't you?" September didn't answer her question, instead he took another step closer to her, cornering her by the wall.
"Didn't I told you that I hated it when you do things just because I wanted or needed them?" He asked, his hands snaking around her fce.
"Maeve, were married. We decide as one and not just for one." September's reminded as he rested his forehead on hers.
Maeve can feel his minty scent as their faces ran inches apart. She unconsciously licked her bottom lip as she her eyes fixed on his reddish lips.
She was able to get out of that trance when she saw the corner of his lips lifted into a lopsided grin.
"And who says I'm the kissing monster here?" He asked with a playful tone, his seriousness slowly dissipating in to thin air.
"W-what?" Maeve tried to act tough yet only resulted to stuttering. September chuckled before he tugged her closer. Maeve's hands rested in front of his chest, providing some distance between them.
"You'll be a great mom. I know we're both new to this but we can figure it out. Together." September said before he claimed his wife's soft lips.
Together.
That word brought Maeve courage to go on and give it a try. She wouldn't be alone. She have September in every step of the way. And that's enough for her.
Maeve pulled out from the kiss and stated at her husband's handsome face. She then took her arms from his chest to the back of his nape.
"Let's do it. Let's raise Fiona as our own." She said which made September smile.
"That's right. We can be family now..." September agreed before he caressed her cheeks with the back of his hand. His gaze soft and gentle than she had ever seen it before.
"How is this even possible?" He asked in a low voice.
"Huh?" Maeve asked in confusion.
"How can I even fall harder for you, when I'm already drowning with my love?" Maeve felt her heart beat instantly went in a frenzy. It was her first time to feel something this intense and she didn't know what to do about it.
"How can I find the way you do things so attractive? How did you bewitch me to this extent?" Maeve felt her knees weakened with the intensity of the look in his eyes.
It looks bare.
It was like he was showing her how much she means to him.
That he would do everything she wants.
She tightly held unto his nape when she felt her knees felt numb with all the sensation assaulting her inside.
"Stop..." She muttered, her voice almost pleading.
"I... I can't breathe," September's solemn face was immediately replaced with a worried one after hearing that she's having a difficult time breathing.
"Why? What's wrong?" He asked as he carried her towards the sofa and was about to help her lay down when she held on tightly to him and shook her head.
"Hey, you're making me worry. What's wrong, hon?" He asked as he kissed the top of her head before he took a seat on the couch, placing his wife on his lap while her head was buried on the crook of his neck.
"September..."
"Hmm?"
"Can you slow down a bit?" She asked, sounding a bit embarrassed.
"Slow down? What do you mean?" Her clueless husband asked.
"I'm not used to this lovey dovey talks and it's taking a toll on my body. I can't feel my knees." She said straightforwardly making her husband gaped at her.
"I'm not a statue, hon. I feel things too," she pointed out.
"What... What was that supposed to mean?"
"It means that I'm asking you to take it easy with my heart. This is my first time and I'm still getting myself accustomed to it."
"Your first time?" September asked his forehead burrowing as he stated at his wife who was currently trying her best to avoid his eyes.
"Why are you not looking at me?" He asked.
"I'm embarrassed." She answered.
"Why would you be embarrassed?" He asked softly.
"I don't know. I just... Can we just stopped talking about this?"
"Nope. Tell me. What is this first time you're talking about?" September asked after he made his wife face him by gently making her head face his direction.
"You really won't tell?" September asked as he teasingly left soft and tiny kisses on her shoulder. And since she was sitting on his lap, this action was very convenient for him.
Maeve shook her head and bit her bottom lip to stop herself from spilling more.
"Really?" He asked in a teasing voice as his lips moved higher into her neck. She automatically gasp as soon as she felt his lips on her neck.
"What is it?" He whispered behind her left ear while his hands were sensually caressing her waist.
"It's your first time doing what, hon?" He asked once again.
September's not dumb, he know what his wife was saying but he wanted to hear it coming from those delicate lips of her.
"What is it?" He asked sweetly.
"You're really manipulative jerk..." She said, sounding more of a moan than a groan.
He grinned victoriously before he awarded her cheeks a sweet kiss.
"Say it, hon. I wanted to hear it coming from you,"
Maeve moved her head a little bit to the side to look at her husband, she pouted a bit before she slightly pinched both his cheeks.
"It's my first time falling in love. So please... Take it slow, my heart's hurting for all those loud thumping it makes because of you."
