Chapter 35: Chapter 35
"That's my daughter!" Tracy shouted before she stood up from the ground and just like a mad woman, attacked Maeve.
September immediately took action but Tracy was able to leave a few scratches on his wife because Maeve was shielding Fiona.
"Stop!" September's deep and commanding voice echoed in the whole venue as he held both of Tracy's wrist to stop her from attacking.
"Give my daughter back to me! She's mine!" Tracy's eyes were bloodshot as she stared at Maeve who was currently pacifying the now crying and trembling Fiona.
"Let me go! You're going to take my daughter too?! I won't let you! You didn't succeed in getting Patricia, so you wanted to take Fiona from me now? I won't let you! I won't let you!"
The people around them felt terrified as they watched the once graceful woman turned into a mad one.
They all had heard about the rumors about her being insane after losing her daughter but since it was never proven the people thought it was just some gossips.
"Give her back! Fiona! Come here!" Tracy then screamed so loud making everyone winced as they cover their ears.
"She's really crazy..."
"She's losing it..."
"Did you see the child tremble? Do you think she was hurting her?"
The people who were complimenting her of being a good parent earlier are now condemning her for the possibility of her physically hurting the child.
A few seconds passed and a group of men in black uniforms entered the scenes and had Tracy surrounded.
"Let me go! Fiona!" Tracy called out as she tries to free herself from the crowd of bodyguards hovering over her.
"Let's go," September said after he put his coat around Maeve who was still carrying the trembling child.
The trio immediately rode the car waiting for them outside the venue.
"Fiona?" Maeve called out gently as she tries to looked at her face but the child just buried herself into her shoulders.
"Do you think we should bring her to the hospital?" She asked her husband worriedly.
September's gaze fell on the thin child in his wife's hand before he nodded.
"Falcon," he called out to the butler who was silently seated on the driver's seat.
"Yes, sir." The butler answered. He already knows what to do even without September saying anything.
When the arrived at the hospital, the doctors and nurses had a hard time convincing Fiona to part with Maeve. The poor child was so terrified that they would leave her. Maeve had to talk it out with her and promised her that they would just be waiting outside the door of the examination room.
After all the necessary tests were over, September and Maeve decided to let Fiona stay at the hospital for awhile.
Fiona was asleep as the doctor went inside the hospital suite. Maeve and September stood up to talk to him while he checks the child's vitals.
The doctor sighed after asking the nurse to adjust the child's fluids. He then faced the couple who were silently waiting for him to speak.
"Her condition is quite stable as of now. But she was malnourished. Her weight is below normal and we found some trauma marks on her back and legs. It seems like she had been hit a lot. Were you aware of that?" Maeve sighed and shook her head at her soft and pitiful gaze fell on the child.
"She needed enough nourishment and exercise to get back in shape. I also suggest for her to undergo therapy. She's too young but she's now showing some symptoms of PTSD. It's better to have her check immediately." September nodded as he listened for more details about Fiona's situation.
"She's so soft..." Maeve muttered when the doctor and nurses left the suite. September gaze back at his wife when he heard her.
Maeve gently caressed the child's face.
"How can she hurt someone this soft?" September immediately pulled Maeve into his embrace when he heard her voice broke.
Maeve buried her face on his chest as she held on the hem of his shirt tightly. She cried silently while September was caressing her back and kisses the top of her head repeatedly.
Maeve immediately wiped her tears when they heard someone knock on the door. September stared at his wife for a while before he parted with her to open the door.
Celeste welcomed herself inside the suite and went directly to sit on the couch intended for the patient's company.
"Falcon had brief me with the situation and now I came to give you two options." Maeve stared at her, puzzled with her bizarre words.
"Celeste's my legal representative." September clarified.
"You're a lawyer?" Maeve can't help to ask while her eyes scanned the woman who was now wearing an oversized yellow shirt tucked in a denim shorts.
Celeste chuckled after watching her reaction.
"It might not seem too obvious but yeah, I'm a lawyer." Maeve stared at her for awhile before absentmindedly nodded.
"Going back, Tracy Amster would surely lose all the custody rights for Fiona. I had asked Falcon to secure the medical results and get the testimonies of the people present in the event earlier and also the people inside her house if he could and he's currently working on it." Celeste stated as playfulness completely dissipated and was replaced with a serious and intimidating aura.
She leaned over a bit and crossed her arms as she stared at the couple in front of her.
"I'm not sure if you had talked about this yet but there are two options for Fiona after this legal war is over." She paused a bit and observed the expression of the couple but of course, she can't read them.
She sighed and rested her back on the couch.
"After Tracy Amster lose the custody, Fiona would be going back to Sunny Orphanage, or we could file for adoption. You both know you're eligible to adopt her, right?"
