Chapter 23: Chapter 23
"Sir," September turned to one of his men who held a guy by the collar.
The guy looks like in his mid-twenties. He was wearing a waiter's uniform. He looked terrified as he meets September's gaze.
"What's with him?" He asked as he silently scrutinizes the guy in front of him.
"Found suspicious messages from his phone." The man in black suit answered as he raised the man's phone and immediately handed it over to September.
September left a lingering gaze at the guy in front of him before he opened the phone to check. Everyone around them was watching, some were petrified, some were amused and some were just plain curious.
It took a few breath taking moments before his expression changes from neutral to a terrifying one. His eyes went up and gaze at the terrified guy in front of him.
"You even dared to take a picture of my wife?" He asked.
"W-what? I d-didn't! S-sir! I d-didn't do it!" The guy denied. But September lifted the phone in front of him and everyone was able to see the stolen picture of Maeve Miller as she was talking to some business men.
September grabbed the guy's collar from his men and pulled him closer.
"Where's my wife?" He asked angrily.
"I don't know!" The guy answered, panicking.
"Sir! Believe me! I don't know!"
"You won't talk? Then maybe my men can do something to help you---"
"Alright! They paid me to text someone if Maeve Miller is already here! That's all I know! I swear!" The guy confessed shakily.
The people watching can feel his fear just by watching. And then, their eyes went to the angry king holding the poor subject's collar.
"My men would make sure of that." September said before he pushed the guy away, causing for the guy to fell on the floor.
The men in black immediately stepped in and assisted the poor guy stood amidst his shaky legs. Later on, people watched him left the event hall with three of September's people almost dragging him.
"Sir, all clear." One of his men reported a little while after the commotion.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, sir." The man answered with full confidence.
September scanned the crowd one more time before he nodded and walked back to the podium.
"Everyone, thank you for cooperating. My men had cleared the area and had eliminated suspicious people as well. I am sorry to have caused you the hassle for what was supposed to be a wonderful night for everyone." He announced as his eyes went to look at almost each and everyone present in the room.
"My wife is being tracked down right now. I don't understand why someone would want to hurt a woman. But nevertheless, I'll keep everyone updated and let you know about my wife's situation. Thank you and you may now go." He announced, marking the end of the event.
He went down first, his men surrounded him as he left the doors. Little did everyone knew the corner if his lips lifted up in smirk after he had everyone entered his game of manipulation.
When he entered his car, the guy in a waiter's suit was calmly waiting for him.
"You did great." He complimented.
"Thanks, sir." The guy answered.
"How's Maeve?"
"Safe and sound, sir." The guy reported.
"And the culprits?"
"Already under Falcon's custody,"
"Good." He said, dismissing the conversation before he pulled out his phone and called his wife.
Meanwhile, Maeve was standing in front of the five people tied and gagged on the floor. They were too noisy to her liking.
"Who's gonna talk?" The five men, simultaneously made gagging noises, making her head hurt a bit.
"Are you sure you're not going to talk properly? Are you actually waiting for my husband to do the interrogations?" The five went silent and motionless after hearing her words.
"I'm sure that won't be a pretty sight. So if I were you---" Maeve smirked when she was cut off by the insistent gaggling of Gregorio, the driver and the one who acts like a leader of the group.
Maeve gestured for one of the September's people to take off the cloth gagging him, so he can talk.
"I'll speak! Just let us go alive!"
"Well... That would depend on what you say." Gregorio flinched as he watched the woman in front of him.
"Who sent you to get me?"
"We don't know." Maeve crossed her arms as her brows shot up.
"I swear! In this job, we don't ask for a clients name alright?! They sent us money, we do the work, job done!" Gregorio explained frantically.
"What does he/she looked like?" She asked instead. But Gregorio just shook his head in defeat.
"Haven't seen him. All we knew was that he's a he. But who knows if he altered his voice or something?"
"Are you aware that you're answers were all useless?" Maeve pointed out.
"Yeah. All we really know is that whoever he was, he has a deep rooted anger towards your husband to do this to you."
Maeve rolled her eyes. Isn't it obvious yet?
"Now can you free us?" Gregorio asked in a demanding way.
"Oh. I remembered saying it would depend on what you say. You think you gave us something worthy?" She retorted.
"My husband's on his way. He'll be the one talking to you this time." She said before she turned around, not minding the cries of fear of those five.
Geez, how he wanted to sue up their mouths! Too noisy! It's not like September's gonna kill them. He's just gonna torment them until they spill all they know before they gave them up to the police.
After she left the room where they kept those five, her phone rang. It was her husband.
"Hey," she greeted.
"Hello hon. How are you? Were you injured?" September asked worriedly even though she was sure that he had already receive a report about the incident from his men.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Good to hear that, then. I'm almost there." He said and she nodded.
"Okay. I'll wait for you." She answered with a smile.
