Chapter 21: Chapter 21

"Where's Maeve?" Celeste asked once again as panic started to consume her. She hadn't caught even a glimpse of her friend's wife after the lights went on. And having the emcee lying on his own blood on the very stage where Maeve used to stand before the lights went off is not helping either.

"Why are you so calm?! Your wife's nowhere to be found!" She lashed out. But September just coldly turned to her.

"Do I looked calm to you?" He asked back. When Celeste was about to retort back, she caught her friend's eyes and realized what was brewing in there. She almost took a step back because of the violent assault that was written in his eyes.

September turned away and walk up the stage, he just walked past the emcee who remained unconscious on the floor.

"No one's allowed to get out of this hall." He announced while standing by the podium. He immediately caught everyone's attention and just like that, everyone realized that something's amiss.

Where's Maeve Miller?!

"As you all can notice, my wife was nowhere to be found. So I'll be grateful to accept everyone's cooperation as my people come and investigates." Murmurs among the crowd was heard but yet, no one had the courage to come on in front and defy September's words.

And just on cue, men in black suits came inside the hall causing for the guests to be alarmed but September immediately took over with the explanation that they were his people.

Celeste was watching the scene in front of her unfold. The event hall was almost filled with September's men but there's a specific face missing. Her eyes flew back at the king standing proud behind the podium. He was looking around with his piercing eyes, deeming everyone guilty for taking his wife.

Maybe it's true, that when the queen is not around, the king is on a rampage. His terrifying expression was too far to that carefree and bright face he had earlier. Everyone can notice that.

Celeste sighed and cooperate well, when one of his people went to her and checked her things and her phone.

After she was thoroughly searched, she nodded at the man before she went up the stage and walked up to her friend.

"What the hell is this, September? Where's your wife?"

September left a lingering gaze to the people below the stage before he turned his attention to his inquiring friend.

"I don't know." He answered.

"Then... Where's your butler?" She inquired, and when the corner of his lips rose a bit, she knew that this is more than what it seems like.

While everyone in the event hall was panicking and terrified, Maeve was seated quietly inside a moving vehicle. Her eyes were blindfolded and her hands and heels were tied. But her relaxed figure, puzzled her kidnappers.

"Hey! You go check if she's still alive." The driver ordered. And when the youngest of the five men moved to check on her she sighed and moved.

"I'm still alive, don't worry." She said without any trace of fear and reluctancy.

The culprits exchange looks of shock. They were already experienced in this field and yet they haven't seen anyone being this calm and composed after being kidnapped. If any, a normal person would toss and turn around the seat to be freed. But this lady was too different. They didn't even need to gagged her for she's been quiet from the beginning.

"She's so quiet..." The youngest pointed out in a whisper. Never in his job did it became this silent unless their victim is unconscious.

"Why? If I keep screaming would you free me? I doubt that. It will just drain my energy." She said before she leaned in towards the car's window. But what they didn't noticed was that, Maeve didn't just rested her head on the window. She pressed her earrings on the window.

"Got you, madame." Her lips curved a bit after hearing Falcon's voice.

"Hey..." She called out.

"What is it?" One of the culprits asked.

"Can you check the rope on my wrist? Something's pricking my skin." The culprit nearest to her, looked at the driver, waiting for permission and when the driver, who acts like their leader nodded he pulled out Maeve's hands and check the rope around it.

"Searching..." Falcon's voice whispered.

"He's Joe Whites. Thirty years old, wanted with the crime of kidnapping." Maeve subtly twisted her wrist to an angle where her bracelet can be seen. It only took Falcon a few seconds before he was able to name the five men inside.

Maeve's bracelet was installed with a hidden camera, which was directly connected to Falcon's device. Same as her earpiece, her earrings. They came prepared today, sorry for these kidnappers but they took the wrong woman.

"Where are we heading?" She asked loudly, but she's not actually asking the men with her but Falcon.

"You'll know later." The guy named Ryan, answered.

"Heading to the city's outskirts." Falcon answered. He was following the van alongside with other men assigned by September to protect his wife.

"You know I'm September Thorne's wife, right?" She asked testing them.

"Of course. That's what brought you bad luck. Marrying that bastard brought you here." Maeve sat properly and her lips made a grim line.

"Well then. I was planning to let you play for a little longer but you just had to accused my husband of being bad luck so yeah, let us bring you your bad luck. Falcon..." The eyes of the kidnappers widened after hearing her call out Falcon's name, they were told to watch out for that butler but they haven't seen them in the party when they acted as servers so they thought its a safe ground for them.

So what the hell was this woman babbling about.

"Now." She said and she immediately heard Falcon's affirmative response before the car halted with the driver hitting the brake hard.

"What the hell?" The driver muttered as he watched their van being surrounded with cars.

Maeve laughed sinisterly. Even without seeing their faces she has an idea what their expressions would be.

"That's what you get for kidnapping the manipulator's wife." She said smugly as the door of the car harshly opened and she immediately heard Falcon's voice.
