Chapter 53: Chapter 53
βDaniel's P.O.V.β
"So you're telling me you saw her girlfriend getting kidnapped from a little alley behind his apartment?" The officer asked.
"Yes," Yoonah answered as she was registering the kidnapping case.
"Didn't I tell you to register the Missing case?" I snarled.
The officer gave an apologetic look, "Mr. Kim, I can't go against the law. Please try to understand."
"Daniel Hyung, please." Ray requested.
I stopped as I sat beside Yoonah, who was answering the officer's questions. I was grateful to Yoonah because even after my behavior, she was helping me to find Nuri.
"What was she wearing?" The officer asked.
"A brown dress." Yoonah and I said together.
The officer and Ray glanced at us with shock. Yoonah and I glanced at each other and nodded.
"When did you see her getting kidnapped?"
"3 hours ago?" Yoonah said.
"Then why didn't you come here right away?" The officer gave a disappointed look.
"My friend had an accident right after that incident near that road. And I had to go to the hospital with her. I came here after admitting her to the hospital." Yoonah answered without hesitation.
"I see." The officer noted everything in his file.
"Have you seen any of their faces who were kidnapping the girl?"
"I have seen one of them!"
"Okay, let me check the CCTV footage of that area. Can you help us to recognise that person if you see him casually?" The officer asked.
"I can. Maybe. It was very dark. But maybe I can." Yoonah replied with an unsure tone.
I kept my hand on Yoonah's hand, and she turned her gaze to me.
"I know you can.. please do it," I whispered with a pleading voice.
Yoonah stared at me for 10 seconds before nodding her head.
"Okay, then. You all, please wait outside until we get the CCTV footage of that area."
We nodded and went outside of the room and waited in the waiting room.
"I can't understand why they Kidnapped Nuri out of so many girls?" Ray rubbed his chin, narrowing his eyes.
"Human traffickers don't choose their victims based on nationality." Yoonah said, "but I must say they must have been keeping an eye on Nuri to kidnap her with such a full-proof plan."
Yoonah's words hit me like a tsunami. I remembered when Nuri was crying and saying she saw that kidnapper out of our hotel.
"Did he kidnap her? But how is that possible? He is still inside the prison now.
Then was it his gang members who kidnapped her? It can be."
I was thinking all this when Ray gave a little jerk to me, "Daniel Hyung, Are you fine?"
"I-i am fine. Just realised something." I uttered the words with a low tone.
"What did you realise?" Ray asked curiously.
"That day on Jeju, Nuri was screaming because she saw someone."
"Yes, it seemed like it. But I couldn't understand who Nuri was staring at. There were so many people." Ray explained.
"Okay, I think I need to tell you the story from the first day Nuri arrived at South Korea," I said as Yoonah and Ray leaned closer to hear the story.
**********
"Aaaaiiigggooo!" Yoonah pressed her mouth with her hand as I finished telling the story.
"Holy crap!" Ray cursed, "A kidnapper almost killed her!"
"So that's why they targeted Nuri, in the first place because she could recognise the other kidnapper's face?" Yoonah said while rubbing her chin.
"Most likely. And I think the gang members kidnapped Nuri!" I gritted my teeth at my sentence and clenched my fist.
Ray held my hand, making it lose.
"We'll catch them," Ray said while looking at me.
"Yes, we will." Yoonah joined.
I couldn't understand how the two big villains of my life became the best supporters of my life in a dangerous situation. I sighed as I nodded, glancing back at them.
Suddenly the officer who registered Yoonah's case came back to us.
"We have managed to bring the footage of that area. Please follow me to recognise that kidnapper." The officer said.
Yoonah nodded, and we all stood up and followed the officer.
We arrived in a little room with a laptop. The video footage played on the laptop, and the officer asked Yoonah to concentrate on the people. It was footage from 3 hours and 30 minutes ago.
"It's not the exact area where I saw Nuri getting kidnapped," Yoonah said.
"I expected it.
The kidnappers kidnapped her from a place where the camera wasn't fixed." The officer explained.
I licked my lips as I asked, "So what's that mean? We can't get his picture?"
"We still can if he had walked around the surrounding area where we have the camera fixed. But only Miss Yoonah can help us with that." The officer glanced at Yoonah.
"Yoonah, check the footage and try to remember if you can see the kidnapper here in this footage. Please." I requested.
"Okay, okay. Let me watch this." Yoonah assured and concentrated on the video.
Twenty minutes passed, and Yoonah was still watching the footage. But she didn't say a word. I was losing hope with every minute.
"I didn't know what they were doing to her right now!" I hid my face in my palms as the worst thoughts started invading my sanity.
"Please be safe, Nuri. Just hang in there! Your Daniel will save you, anyhow." I said in my head again and again when Yoonah screamed, "He is the one."
I opened my eyes and glanced at Yoonah, who was now pointing at the laptop screen with fear. The officer leaned closer to see that kidnapper's face properly.
Suddenly we heard the door opening sound. As I turned back to the door, I found the same police officer who had arrested the kidnapper from Nuri's hotel some days ago.
"Sorry for interrupting.
Hello, I am officer Jung, and I will be in charge of this case." The officer said.
Soon he noticed me and asked, "Aren't you Mr. Kim who reported to us about the kidnapper a couple of days ago?"
"Yes. Officer Jung. You arrested the Kidnapper from my girlfriend's hotel room." I added.
"Yeah. Right! Now I remember. You also called me the day before yesterday to confirm if the kidnapper was still in prison or not." Officer Jung said.
"Yes. Actually, I should have told you about the incident right away. My girlfriend saw that same kidnapper out of our hotel at Jeju. And she freaked out. That's why I called you to reconfirm." I explained.
"What?" Officer Jung narrowed his eyebrows at me, "How is that possible?"
"I thought the same officer, but she has been kidnapped today. " I said while staring at the ground.
"My Gosh!" Officer Jung was shocked.
"Officer Lee, is there any progress? You told me someone saw the criminal?" Officer Jung looked at the officer who was showing Yoonah the footage.
"Yes, senior. Miss Yoonah has pointed out a man. Please take a look." Officer Lee turned the screen of the laptop to Officer Jung.
Officer Jung leaned to the screen, and then he gasped, "How is this possible?"
"What happened, Officer Jung? What's wrong?" I asked in fear.
"Mr. Kim, I think you should take a look at this person." Officer Jung turned the laptop to me, and I leaned closer to find out who that person was.
But my jaw dropped after seeing the screen as my whole body was shaking. The person looked like the kidnapper who was arrested by Officer Jung a couple of days ago.
"Why the hell didn't I believe Nuri at that time?? I am a big loser!!" I cursed myself as I realised Nuri saw the right person at Jeju. He was following us.
Ray and Yoonah asked with their concerned voices, "What's the matter?"
"This person looked like the same kidnapper who was arrested from Nuri's hotel. " I said, gritting my teeth.
Yoonah and Ray gasped in my sentence.
