Chapter 51: Chapter 51

●Daniel's P.O.V.●

"So you think I am cheating on you ?" Nuri demanded.

I knew she wasn't cheating on me.

I knew Nuri loved me. But the recent incident was making my mind a mess. I was hurt when Nuri didn't push Ray back. I was hurt, but still, I didn't say anything. Because I thought she loved me. But right at that moment, I couldn't think straight.

"I don't know," I answered while wiping my tears.

My words surely hurt Nuri. I could understand it by looking at her face. But still, I stood there without a word.

"Fine. I am going then. Enjoy your life." Nuri said as she moved towards the exit.

I sat on my knees. It was hard to let Nuri go while she was crying, but I was hurt too. I loved Nuri with my everything. And this feeling hurt me more.

"What did I do wrong to get the second position on your priority list? What?" I screamed.

Nuri was the girl whom I loved more than anything. But why couldn't she understand me? Why was I getting rejected again and again by her? I felt weak.

Nuri left without taking anything, and I knew she would be near. I wasn't in the mood to find her right away. Hence, I sat there and waited for Nuri to come back on her own. It was her fault.

The time passed quickly, and it was 30 minutes after Nuri left the apartment. I went to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water.

Another 30 minutes passed, but Nuri still wasn't back. I glanced at my phone screen and realised it was 8:30 pm. I remembered Nuri hadn't eaten dinner. I sighed heavily.

"Did I overreact? Was I too rude to bring that kiss in the argument?"

I stood up from the couch. I was still mad at Nuri. But for that, I couldn't let her stay hungry. I started feeling a little guilty now for accusing her of cheating. It was extreme of me to accuse her of cheating.

I ran my hand through my hair as I moved towards the exit. As soon as I exited my apartment, I noticed the empty floor again like that day.

"Nuri?" I called her name but got no response.

"Nuri, I know you're here. Just come out. Let's make it less dramatic." I said as I crossed my arms over my chest.

Still, I received no response. I sighed. I knew Nuri was mad.

"I shouldn't have talked to her like that." I thought.

I walked to the stairs and peeked a little from both staircases in case I could trace Nuri. But unfortunately, I couldn't.

"Listen, Nuri, I am sorry, okay. Let's have dinner and talk it out. I am sorry I overreacted."

I waited after my apology. I expected Nuri to come out with my apology, but still, Nuri didn't come out. Now I was a little tense.

"Nuri, Jagi...I am sorry. Please come out. Let's talk. You don't want me to run here and there with my weak body, right?" I soften my voice.

But again, I got no response. My heartbeats hammered in my chest. And a sweat broke down on my forehead.

"Has she left somewhere, getting mad at me?" I thought as panic captured my heart.

Without wasting any time, I rushed downstairs. I made sure to check every floor properly, but I couldn't find any traces of Nuri. Finally, I arrived at the ground floor, and my eyes analysed the whole floor as far as my eyes could reach. My heart pounded so fast I could hear my heartbeats in my ear.

Nuri wasn't there as well. I rubbed my chest to reduce the pain I was having in my heart as I decided to look upstairs for Nuri. I didn't have the option to call her either. I felt helpless as I kept cursing myself for behaving so rudely to Nuri.

I almost entered the elevator when I noticed the guard of our apartment. I didn't want to assume that Nuri left the apartment, but I needed to confirm that she didn't leave the building.

"Excuse me," I called the guard.

"Yes, Sir!" He walked to me.

"Did you see any girl wearing a brown dress? She stays with me!" I asked her to give Nuri's description.

Then I pulled out my phone from my trouser pocket and showed Nuri's picture to the guard.

The guard scratched his head for a few moments before answering, "The foreigner girl?"

I excitedly said, "Yes! That foreigner girl! Did you see her?"

"Ah...I think I saw her exiting the apartment building."

The guard replied with his unsure voice.

"WHAT?"

My eyes widened at his words. I couldn't believe Nuri went out of the building.

"Are you sure ?" I asked once again.

"Yes, sir. She just left the gate 10 minutes ago." The guard answered confidently after taking a good look at Nuri's picture again.

I wiped my sweat and asked, "Where, where did she leave?"

"I think she took the right turn." The guard said.

"Oh, Crap!" I cursed as fear grabbed me.

Without any more words, I rushed outside of the apartment building and took the right turn after a while. The road looked empty and less brightened. I walked with faster steps as I kept checking the surroundings to find If Nuri was there.

I walked for 30 minutes following the turn but never found Nuri. The turn was turning slim with some steps I took forward. But I still didn't stop. As I came out of the turn, a familiar street welcomed me. The restaurant I and Nuri ate dinner at that night before going to Jeju was on that street.

I stopped for a second as I was losing My patience.

Fear was defeating my positive thinking.

"I can't stop! She must be here somewhere!" I assured myself and started finding Nuri again. Nuri didn't even take her phone. Hence, I didn't have an option to contact her.

**********

After two more hours of searching, I came back to my apartment. As I stepped down from the cab, I paid the driver online. Then I rushed to my apartment, thinking maybe Nuri came back after she calmed down.

Entering the main gate, I met the same guard.

"Did she come back?" I asked with hope in my voice.

But he shook his head with a guilty expression. My last hope to find Nuri was gone. I couldn't stand anymore as I felt weak on my knees. All my body muscles froze by the fear of the unknown.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I fell to the ground on my knees. The guard tried to hold me.

"Sir, are you okay?" The guard asked, but I couldn't answer anything.

My voice was gone. I couldn't say anything.

"Where are you, Nuri? Where?" I cried in my head, " I promise I'll never ask you to marry me. I'll never raise my voice at you.

But please come back! Come back." I thought as Nuri's smiling face flashed before my eyes again and again.
