Chapter 28: Chapter 28
●Daniel's P.O.V.●
"Woah~ You suddenly became a good girl! Why ?" I scoffed.
"I-I~"
I raised an eyebrow as I smirked. My eyes were fixe on her pretty eyes.
She kept blinking as I trapped her under my body on the bed.
"Wait, wait, wait !" Nuri yelled.
"What ?" I stopped.
"I haven't brushed today!" Nuri said as she covered her mouth with both of her hands and squeezed her eyes shut.
I was shocked at first. Then I realised what Nuri said.
"Pfffftttt." I ended up laughing my ass off as I rolled down on the bed.
Nuri opened her eyes and blinked. Then she glanced at me.
"What is so funny ?" Nuri asked while narrowing her eyebrows at me.
I replied while laughing, "Why did you say that you haven't brushed today?
Did you think I would kiss you?
Haha haha! You're so funny!"
Nuri became a statue for a second. Then she tried to say something, " I-I was only-"
"And why did you cover your mouth?
For a bad breath, or the kiss ?" I laughed again.
"Stop laughing -_-" Nuri made an annoyed face.
"Why would I ?" I laughed more.
"Is it embarrassing, Miss India?
Covering your mouth, thinking I am going to kiss you, huh? Hahaha!
You looked so stupid." I rolled to the bed left and right.
Suddenly Nuri pushed me back and climbed on top of me, pinning down my body under her on the bed. My eyes widened.
Nuri had a grumpy expression.
Brown eyes fixed on mine. Both hands were trapping me under her.
"Wh-what do you want ?" I said while stuttering.
"I want you to stop laughing," Nuri ordered with a serious tone.
But Nuri looked so cute while saying that, that I burst out laughing again. I tried to control my laugh, but she was tremendously cute that I couldn't suppress it.
"Yahhhhh! Daniel! Quit laughing, or I will-" Nuri warned while pouting.
"You will what? Haha, cute." I couldn't control my laugh at all.
But suddenly, Nuri leaned closer. I could hear her heartbeats from the little distance we had. Her breath touched my skin. She only stared at my eyes for 2 seconds before placing her lips on mine.
Her lips were soft as the first time when I got kissed by her. I was sure she could hear my heartbeats as well. I dwelled in my mind if I should kiss her back or should take it as her Revenge.
Few seconds passed, and she finally pulled back herself. Her cheeks were red, yet she smiled and said, "Now laugh - Ha ha ha!"
I pressed my hand on my mouth. I was trying to control my happiness as Nuri stood at a distance away. I was controlling the smile because of that kiss and ignoring her eyes.
I felt a sweat slid across my forehead and reached my neck. Everything moved slow.
Nuri was still standing in front of me, crossing her arms over her chest. She was glancing at me like she won some trophy. I wasn't in the situation to face her. So I just sat there facing the floor, trying to believe it was a real kiss and not a hallucination.
Not accidental or forced. It was a god damn kiss from the girl I like so much. My cheeks were already red.
"Why are you not laughing now? Huh?
Look at me !" Nuri said with pride.
I tried to look up at her eyes while still covering my mouth, trying not to show my teeth. But I couldn't. As soon as her eyes met mine, I felt she was going to kiss me again.
With the speed of lightning, I lowered my gaze at the floor. I counted 1-5 and then ran towards the bedroom door. I opened it within a second and left the bedroom, and made sure to close the door behind me.
As I exited the room, I leaned on the sidewall as I put my right hand on my racing heart and let out a giggle.
"Oh My Gosh!" I murmured in happiness, making sure I wasn't very loud.
I jumped in excitement.
I felt thirsty and stepped downstairs, jumping and dancing, and made my way towards the kitchen. I couldn't suppress my smile at all.
I poured a glass of water for myself and smiled all the time while I drank it. I couldn't understand what magic she had done to me. But I was sure at this point that Nuri knew magic.

●Nuri's P.O.V.●
"Why are you not laughing now? Huh?
Look at me !" I said with pride.
Daniel was sitting on the bed weirdly. He was covering his mouth with his hand. But finally, he glanced up at me.
His eyes met mine, and I saw his eyes sparkling. I blinked a couple of times, staring at his golden-brown eyes.
But all of a sudden, Daniel's expression changed, and he lowered his head. Within a few seconds, he stood up from the bed and ran outside of the room as he closed the door behind him.
I kept staring at him and his face.
It was red.
"Was he blushing? Be-because of my kiss?
Crap! I kissed him. And then I acted like it was cool to kiss him!!!!!!!!!!
F*CK!
What have I done?" The realisation hit me like a tsunami.
What the heck have I done? I kissed a guy! And acted like it was cool for me!!!!!!" The thoughts scared me.
"I-I should die already."- I screamed as I started crying, covering my face.
I was now scared.
"What if Daniel thinks something else about me?
What if he thinks I am not an innocent girl at all."
I started sweating.
"My idiot Ass!" I started crying as I sat on the bed.
**********************
I came out of the bathroom after a relaxing shower, wearing my night outfit. While brushing my hair, I noticed a sticky note was on the mirror.
It said,
"Come down for dinner.
I am waiting.
Daniel…"
I gulped as I read that note. Not sure what to expect when I would go downstairs.
I stepped downstairs while preparing a long speech to explain my past activity, but I saw the hall was dark. Only one candle was lit on the dining table.
I stopped for a second.
"What's going on?"I murmured.
Looking right and left, I slowly moved towards the dining table. Suddenly, I stumbled over something and almost fell to the ground, but two hands grabbed me right before the fall.
I glanced up and saw Daniel was staring down at me with a smile.
"You always manage to get in danger," Daniel smirked.
"I-I…em…I mean…
I couldn't see anything clearly because of the darkness." I tried to defend myself.
"I see.." Daniel replied with a soft tone.
Then he let me go, and I tried to stand properly, holding his hands.
"By the way, why is the whole apartment dark?" I asked while finding the switches.
"Let's have a candlelight dinner!" Daniel said excitedly.
And all of a sudden, the area of the dining place glowed up with green and purple lights. The place had a soft environment for a perfect candlelight dinner.
Daniel moved forward, and I followed him as my hand was already in his hand.
He stopped in front of a seat and pulled the chair for me. As I sat there, Daniel pushed back the seat. I was confused, and also the whole situation felt a little weird.
After that, Daniel went inside the darkness and brought back some dishes and pots at the dining table. Then he sat opposite me.
"What is this all about ?" I asked, still feeling uneasy.
Daniel scratched the nape of his neck and gave a sheepish smile.
"I have always wanted to do this type of thing." Daniel sighed.
"I got the chance, so I thought why not.
Also, I got a partner." Daniel glanced at my eyes as he explained.
I coughed.
"A partner? Candlelight dinner? What the f*ck is wrong?" I murmured with the uneasy feeling.
"Drink it. Are you okay ?" Daniel passed a glass of water towards me.
I drank the water and tried every possible way to ignore his eyes. I was scared, ashamed, embarrassed. And I was thinking of a way to explain all the things.
"Daniel, the in-"
Daniel cut off my sentence and said, "I want to talk to you about something." Daniel's voice was calm.
I was a little worried because of this different behavior of Daniel.
"What is it ?" I asked in a low tone.
"We have been hanging out all the time together for some days now.
Don't you think we barely know anything about each other?" Daniel leaned on the table, never breaking eye contact.
It was true. I knew about Daniel a little, but he didn't know anything about me until now. But still, he helped me at every step here. I felt grateful to Daniel all of a sudden.
I nodded my head slowly.
"Right. Let me start then." I smiled.
"I belong to a middle-class Indian family.
I live with a big family, Mom, dad, uncle, aunt, and their children.
We love to stay together.
It's adorable to see how each member fulfills the need to stay together." Daniel nodded his head as he served the food.
"I am loved in the family.
Also, I work in a pretty decent company which gives me two leaves per week and a decent salary to live with comfort." I smiled as I explained.
"Though if I say the truth, I hate to work."
Daniel looked at me with confused eyes.
"Why do you hate to work ?" He sat back in his seat.
"I like to travel to places and write about my experiences about those places.
I always wanted to be a writer." I smiled sheepishly.
"Pretty lame. Right?" I glanced back at Daniel.
Daniel shook his head, "It's great.
I would like to read something if you've written. Traveling stories are great to read."
"Really?" I was shocked.
He nodded while smiling.
"You know, in India, you are a good child if you have 9-5 jobs or better, become a doctor, engineer, or a government slave.
You've pretty much won with those jobs in your society.
People wouldn't be tired of complimenting you." I sighed.
"When I said I wanted to be a writer, every single person laughed at me.
According to them, writing should just be a hobby.
You are the first person who encouraged me like that." A bittersweet smile approached my lips.
"So your parents aren't happy with your writing career ?" Daniel asked while he chewed his food.
"It will be wrong if I say they don't like it.
They like 9-5 jobs more than art or creativity.
Mom sometimes reads my stories, and she tells me how good I am at my hobbies. She makes me proud and sad with one sentence." I finally started eating food.
"In short, they have expectations which I need to meet to be a good child.
It's tiring, sometimes." I explained.
"At least you have parents even if they keep high expectations for you," Daniel said while staring at the blank.
I glanced at him with confusion.
"You don't have-" Daniel cut off my sentence in the middle.
"I was brought up in an orphanage." He uttered the words slowly.
