Chapter 62: Chapter 62
Ryan looked up as Rose stormed into the room, her eyes shining with anger.
"Why was a Summit pack member in my husband's office?" She demanded.
He frowned, "I don't know. I wasn't here when this all started."
"He was on a date with some skin-walker. I have a feeling I know who it is." Jason smirked.
Ryan paled, "You what?"
"I'm not stupid, I know you like my sister."
Rose sighed, "We'll talk about that later. I'm more concerned with who started all of this. There is no other scent in there besides Dimitri's."
"Do you think he might of saw who it was?" Ryan asked.
"I'm not sure, he was mumbling about needing to find a new lock for that door." Rose murmured.
"We could ask him, but...he has been down there for two days now. He's not going to be very....nice." Sage voiced.
Ryan pursed his lips, trying to figure out who's the most foolish wolf in his pack. He ran his hand through his hair, the only foolish one would be his beta, Zachary.
"Impossible..." he whispered.
They all snapped their attention to him, "The only wolf who is foolish enough to target Dimitri is my beta, Zachary."
Jason nodded, "He did talk about hating him when we were younger."
Rose frowned, "Why would he hate Dimitri?"
"He killed his mate." Ryan whispered.
"My dad...actually did that?" Sara asked.
Ryan nodded, "She crossed over the boarders of your pack and killed two of the warriors because Dimitri didn't hate skin-walkers. She got what she deserved."
"So, you think Zachary is finally getting his revenge?" Sage questioned.
Ryan nodded, "He has been very secretive while we've been here. I also noticed how he glared at Dimitri, he hated him more after he defended Jason."
"Where is he now?" Xander asked.
Ryan shrugged, "He went for a run apparently."
They all raced through the forest, tracking the beta down. Rose's wolf was growling as they got closer to where he was. Thoughts of how much pain this beta put Dimitri through, filled her mind. She hated him, she hated him for causing unnecessary pain to her family.
They skidded to a halt when they found him sitting on a rock, a sadistic smile plastered on his face. They quickly noticed the silver gun in his hand, his finger was hovering just above the trigger.
"I see you aren't as stupid as you look." Zachary chuckled.
Rose growled lowly, laying her ears flat against her head. Zachary cocked his head, his brown eyes studied her. He sighed as he stood up, brushing himself off.
"How is our dear king?" He asked, grinning like the mad man he is.
Ryan shifted back, ignoring the fact he was naked.
"I know why you're doing this." He stated.
Zachary narrowed his eyes, "He murdered her."
"She got what she deserved, Zach. And you're going to get what you deserve." Ryan snarled.
"I don't think so. You see, I'm tired of the wrong people becoming alpas. First Dimitri and now your pathetic ass. You apologized to a skin-walker for crying out loud!" He seethed.
"Because not all of them are bad, dumbass. You're stereotyping them."
"And so what if I am? Does it really matter?"
"Yes, you'll be killing innocents."
Zachary scrunched up his nose, "They were never innocent."
"Not everyone is born evil." Ryan sighed. "Just...come down here and maybe we can form an easier punishment."
Zachary laughed and pointed the gun, "I don't want an easier punishment. I want to see Dimitri destroy his family and then live with that guilt. The moon goddess gave him that slut as his mate because of all the wrong he has done!"
"Christine was an...unfortunate event." Ryan frowned. "Karla's death was her own fault, you know that."
Zachary clenched his jaw, "I think it's about time our pack has a new alpha."
As he fired the gun, the bullet was suddenly surrounded by green smoke. He watched as it he suddenly turned around and went through his thigh. The beta screamed in pain and fell off the rock, dropping the gun.
Ryan snapped his head up to see Iris leaning against the boulder, a smirk on her face.
"I think it's about time we got rid of your pathetic ass." She sighed, twisting her wrist.
Zachary screamed louder as the bullet suddenly exited through his shoulder. His eyes went dull as the life left them, leaving behind the limp body of a psycho.
Ryan swallowed, "Iris..."
She sighed and stopped doing magic, "I didn't want him to kill you...or them." She whispered.
Ryan smiled before hugging her, she chuckled. "I love you, but please put some pants on." She mumbled.
Ryan blushed and shifted into his wolf, earning a laugh from the young skin-walker. Iris looked up at the others and grinned.
"I have the antidote for Dimitri...Rose has to mark him again." She announced.
They all tilted their heads, she chuckled. "The drug Zachary used is called Moon Poison. It only take a small amount for it to awaken someone's biggest fear."
"Dimitri's is losing Rose. It causes him to have nightmares and uncontrollable anger. The drug made him think Rose was cheating on him and he went feral. Remember, when you lose a mate, you either go feral, become cold hearted, crazy, or become depressed."
Rose whined and licked Iris' hand, Iris smiled. "You're welcome. We have one problem though."
They all looked at her.
"The council is planning on killing Dimitri at four. Which gives us two hours to bring him back to his senses."
They all raced back to the castle, their hearts hammering against their chests. Since Iris hasn't gained her coyote side yet, she rode on Ryan's wolf. Jason glanced at them, happy to see a smile on Iris' face.
When they reached the castle, Dimitri was kneeling on the ground, the silver chains were still wrapped around him as the council surrounded him.
Rosalie quickly shifted back and threw on a shirt before shoving the men out of her way. She wrapped her arms around Dimitri, ignoring the sharp pain of the silver.
He slowly looked up, his eyes were cold and dark. Rose frowned at him and cupped his cheek, but he growled and snapped at her.
"Queen, I suggest stepping away from him. He's dangerous." A councilman growled.
Rose flashed him a glare, "He was poisoned with Moon Poison. He believes I cheated on him and that he's going to lose me. He isn't feral because he's crazy."
The councilman shook his head, "We don't care. There is no cure for that poison. He has to be killed."
"There is! I just have to mark him again. Please, just let me get him back to his senses." She pleaded.
The others ran in and stood beside Rose, challenging the council. Logan awkwardly looked at the other councilmen before slowly stepping into the middle. He silently stood beside Rose, refusing to allow them to kill the king.
"She's telling the truth." Iris sounded.
"We don't care! How could you even still love him? He may be your mate, but he's not a true mate. He's dangerous for you. He's weak, just look how easy it was for someone to cause this. A mate doesn't do this." One of the other men snarled.
Jason clenched his jaw, "Dimitri is a true mate to her. He loves her, even now, he still loves her. It isn't weakness when your fears are able to grab you. A weak mate is someone who cheats and treats their mate like garbage. Dimitri did none of that. He treated Rose like the queen that she is today."
"He loved her and still loves her with all of his heart and soul. He didn't fight against us when we had to chain him, because he knew it would keep Rose safe. He hates himself for hitting her. You think he did that because he wanted to? A strong mate stays beside his woman and doesn't stray. He doesn't screw other women, he doesn't ignore her, he doesn't hide things from her..."
Jason's eyes widened, "That's the lesson he was teaching me."
Logan smiled, "Jason is speaking the truth. Dimitri isn't a weak mate, he truly loves Rose. Let her take care of him."
A tall man stepped forward, holding a dagger in his hand. "Logan, he's a threat to the kingdom. I'm sorry, but he can't be king or even live anymore."
"Why do I feel like you're saying this because you hate him?" Logan mused. "You're a fool, Liam. Just like your son, Zachary."
They all stared at the man in shock, Liam clenched his jaw.
"I'm doing this for the good of the kingdom." He snapped.
Rose ignored the men as he grabbed Dimitri's face. She had tears running down her cheeks.
"Listen, baby, please? I love you, I never cheated on you. This poison is making you think that, but truth is, you will never lose me." She whispered.
His eyes started to turn grey again as he stared at her. She smiled sadly at him, stroking his cheek.
"Remember when you said your secret desire was me? Well, my secret desire is you. It's not a secret anymore though, but it is my only desire. I want you, I love you, I need you. Please...this fear of your's will never be possible."
He blinked, "Rose..."
She smiled and crushed her lips against his, she then trailed kisses down to his mark. Without hesitating, she bit him. Dimitri hissed in pain, but soon let out a soft and quiet moan.
Rose could feel their bond become even stronger as she remarked her mate. She could feel the anger from her husband fade away. Leaving behind a tired Dimitri.
"I'm so sorry." He said. "For everything."
Rosalie wiped away his tears and kissed him on the cheek, "I'm okay, I'm just glad you're okay."
He smiled at Jason, "Looks like you learned your lesson, kid."
Jason smiled as he pulled Sara against him, he then frowned and looked at her.
"Where are your clothes?" He asked.
She paled, slowly, she looked at herself. She then looked back up, "Dad, look away."
"Trust me, I'm not even looking at you. Please put a shirt on." Dimitri chuckled.
Rose winced as she grabbed the chains and broke them. Her hands were badly burned and bleeding by the time she was done. Dimitri ignored his own dizziness as he gently grabbed her hands.
Rose whimpered at the pain, earning her mate's concerned look. Together, they stood up.
"No!" Liam snarled.
Logan smiled, "Sup."
Dimitri raised an eyebrow at Logan before glaring at Liam. He didn't get a chance to say anything before Liam tried shoving the dagger into his stomach. However, Rose quickly stood in front of her husband.
Dimitri's eyes widened as the dagger plunged into Rose's stomach instead. Liam immediately let go and backed up.
"Kill him." Dimitri growled as he caught Rose.
Jason and Ryan glanced at each other before nodding. They both shifted and chased Liam.
Rose coughed up blood as Dimitri gently picked her up. He kissed her on the forehead.
"Hold on, baby girl. Don't close those pretty eyes yet." He whispered.
"Like you said, I'm not losing you." He murmured.
