Chapter 31: Chapter 31
Dimitri growled at the guards as he walked into the pack's territory, not caring if they tried attacking him. He knew he was trespassing, but he was more focused on getting to Rosalie. He could feel the bond between them, he could feel some of her emotions and it made him feel worse. When he finally reached the packhouse Sebastian was already there.
"What did you do?" He snapped.
Dimitri released a frustrated breath, "Something very stupid. I need to see her, please."
Sebastian sighed and moved out of the way, Dimitri ran into the house and up the stairs. He didn't bother to knock when he reached her room, he barged through the door and froze.
Rosalie didn't even move as he walked in, she stayed in the same spot. He closed the door and hurried over to her, when he gently picked her up she stiffened. He didn't say anything as he sat against the headboard of the bed and cradled her to his chest. She eventually relaxed against, helping him to relax.
"Rose?"
She swallowed, "Wh-what?"
He cringed at how weak she sounded, "I'm sorry." He said, his voice cracking with emotion.
"Why?" She whispered, tears pooling in her eyes as she looked up at him.
Looking into her eyes he hated himself, all he could see was pain. Just like Christine had hurt him, he did the same to her. To his Rosalie. His own tears left his eyes as he hugged her tighter.
"I was drunk and stupid. I was afraid of being rejected, but what I did was far worse. I-I threw out all of the alcohol, I'm not going to drink ever again. No matter what it takes. I know it'll take a long time for you to forgive me, but I need to tell you this." He said, taking a deep breath to get rid of the sob trying to break free.
"I...I love you. I loved you since I first met you, that night when I was talking about Christine's letters I said I didn't care for them since I met, then I trailed off. I didn't care about them since I met you, I don't know what it was, but I was drawn to you. Your beauty, your personality, just...everything about you. All those times I had hurt you I hated myself for it, but this...I can't even forgive myself. I threw you away like garbage, just like how Christine threw me away. I didn't reject you, but this was worse."
"I don't deserve your forgiveness, I know that, but I just...I just want to tell you I love you. I want you to know how sorry I am for all of this. I should have believed you, but I was allowing myself to become paranoid. I allowed my trust issues to get in the way and I acted like a fool. I was being a coward and hurting the one woman that I love more than my own life. I'll spend the rest of my life making this up to you. I promise to never ever hurt you again and to always protect you. No matter the cost."
Rosalie stared at him in stunned silence before tears fell from her eyes. She wanted to be angry at him, to hurt him like he had hurt her, but she knew he already was hurting. She smiled at him and gently stroked his cheek.
"I still love you." She whispered.
He smiled at her as she cupped his cheek, without meaning to, he leaned into her touch. Cherished it. He opened his eyes and looked at her.
"How?" He asked softly.
She chuckled, "Simple. I just do. True love isn't easy to find, but I think I found it. Now, sit me up, you idiot."
Dimitri laughed a little as he sat her up further, he was shocked as she grabbed his face and kissed him. She was weaker, he could tell, but her love for him wasn't. Through that one kiss he could tell she loved him more than anything. Tears ran down both their cheeks as they pressed their heads together.
"Please...don't ever do this to me again...please." She cried.
Dimitri hugged her, he buried his face in her neck. "I won't. I promise."
She started to sob loudly into his chest, he continued holding onto her as she clung onto his shirt.
"I love you." She mumbled.
He closed his eyes and allowed his tears to escape again. "I'm so sorry." He whispered.
Rosalie calmed down after a few minutes and sighed, she suddenly frowned as she slowly rubbed him. She pulled away and studied him.
"What?" He asked. "What did I do?"
"You lost weight. I can feel your ribs and your face is thinner. You're also paler." She observed.
He frowned, "So have you..."
"But I can't feel my ribs! What the...when did you last eat?"
He opened his mouth to answer, but then closed it. "I don't know."
"Were you exercising while not eating?"
No answer.
She released a breath, "We need to eat and you're not allowed to exercise until you gain your weight back."
He nodded quietly, smiling at her. She scowled at him and folded her arms across her chest.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" She asked.
He chuckled and stroked her cheek, "Because I can't stop. I love you. I love you so much."
She sighed and smiled back at him, "Next time, we talk things out."
"Speaking of which...what uh...what had happened?" Dimitri asked.
"Darien was told to split us up, Eli's doing of course. You would have known if I was allowed to explain."
Dimitri looked down and played with his hands. "I'm sorry."
She shook her head, "You know what? It's in the past, we need to move on from this. No more fighting."
He smiled sadly and hugged her again, "No more." He murmured.
He suddenly picked her up and walked her to the bathroom. She frowned as he sat her on the toilet and started up the bath.
"I smell bad, don't I?" She asked.
He chuckled, "Believe it or not, you still smell like vanilla to me. But I know you and you're going to want a shower-
She blushed and looked down.
-and you're too weak to do that." He smiled.
She looked back up, she watched as his movements were slower than usual. She didn't say anything though, she already knew the reason and he was a very stubborn guy. But she was still concerned.
Once the water was warm enough he helped her undress and carefully laid her in the tub. She laid her head against the edge as Dimitri got to work cleaning her hair.
Once she was done he helped her dry off and get dressed. He then laid her on her bed and walked out. He returned a few minutes later with soup and sat down.
"It'll help you feel better." He explained.
She frowned, "What about you?"
"I'll eat later."
"Dimitri..."
"I'm not hungry."
She sighed in defeat and started to eat the food. Once she was full he put it back downstairs and ran back up to see her climbing out of bed. He rushed over to her side, but she put her hand up.
"I'm fine. Can we go home now?" She asked.
He grinned, "Of course."
When they returned to the packhouse Rosalie was stunned to see multiple pack members glaring at Dimitri. She glanced at her mate to see him trying his hardest to hide his emotions, but she knew him all too well. She grabbed his hand and dragged him to their room, knowing he needed an escape.
Once their door was closed she turned to see Dimitri sitting on their bed, his hands covering his face. She walked over and knelt in front of him, she removed his hands and cupped his face.
"Hey, ignore them. They'll get over themselves soon." She said softly.
He sighed, "Yeah, soon as in a few weeks. They're not exactly happy about me hurting their Luna."
"But they don't have any right to hurt their alpha. Plus, I'm clearly back and I clearly talked it out with you. There's no reason for them to be angry still."
He shrugged, "This pack was guided by Alpha Black, the cruel side of me. I was an asshole while you were gone."
She sighed and got up, she hugged him as they sat on their bed. "Well, I'm sure your brothers will talk some sense into them."
"My brothers." He scoffed. "They hate me too."
"What?" She asked, bewildered.
"Everyone does, I'm used to it though. It happened many times before."
She frowned as he got up and sighed, "When is your brother returning our son?"
She chuckled, "Whenever he and his mate are done spoiling him. I guess it's the least I can do since I forgot to tell him he had a nephew..."
"At least he's in good hands, I know Hazel. She's the complete opposite of her sister."
"Her sister?"
"Christine."
Rosalie gaped at him, "She had a sister?"
"Yeah, it's like the wicked witch of the west and the good witch drama. Hazel is good and Christine was an evil bitch."
"Wicked bitch of the west and the good bitch." Rosalie grinned.
Dimitri raised an eyebrow before laughing, "I want you to rest. I have a trip to plan."
"A trip?"
"That large alpha meeting you picked a dress out for a while ago." He explained.
"Oh....when is it and where?"
"It's the week after next and it's in Canada."
"Canada?"
"Yeah, don't ask me why."
Rosalie shrugged, "I always wanted to go to Canada."
"Well, looks like you're going." He chuckled.
He kissed her on the lips and told her to rest before leaving. As he walked downstairs he tried his hardest to ignore the insults said about him. There were a few pack members that still showed him respect and love, he was thankful for them.
"Probably going to get drunk again. I think we need a new alpha." Someone whispered.
"He's a bastard. I heard he's a bastard child. They didn't want twins." Another sounded.
"I wonder why our Luna came back, I would reject him and let him die." A third snarled.
Dimitri slammed his office door shut and sighed, he locked it before taking a seat. He groaned as he ran his hands through his hair.
"What did I do?" He thought aloud.
