Chapter 10: Chapter 10
Rosalie paced the room, preparing to announce to her old pack about combining them with Dimitri's. She had tried convincing Cyrus to do it, but he told her he's no longer alpha. She swallowed her fear and faced the doors, putting on a brave face.
"I got this." She told herself.
"Hurry up and when telling them, refer to me as Alpha Black." A voice ordered.
She looked behind her to see Dimitri walking towards the door. She frowned as she saw that cold and hard look in his eyes. Once again that fun, playful, and kind Dimitri was gone and the cold hearted one was back.
He didn't say anything as they walked outside and stood before the pack.
All of them had fearful looks in their eyes as they noticed Dimitri first. When they saw Rosalie standing beside him with a blank expression they slightly relaxed.
"Alpha Black and I have come to an agreement to combine packs. This pack has no alpha and is weak already. The population of rogues have grown immensely over the last few weeks. Combining packs will give you the protection and training that you need." Rosalie announced.
Murmurs and gasps echoed throughout the crowd until someone decided to speak up.
"How do we know you're not planning to kill us? Along with Alpha Black?"
Rosalie scanned the crowd until her eyes landed on a brown eyed girl. She had a smirk on her face, as if she knew Rosalie's dirty little secret. She recognized her as the girl she saw screwing Cyrus before she turned rogue. She pushed her anger away and smiled sweetly.
"Rachel, you are more than welcomed to turn rogue if you want. I can assure you I am not planning on murdering this pack. Yes, I haven't forgiven any of you, but that doesn't mean I hate you. You're like a second family to me and you know what my parents' rules were. The major one being we don't turn our backs on family." She spoke. "And Rachel, this isn't an invitation to open your legs for another alpha."
Rachel frowned, "How do you know he doesn't want me?"
Rosalie bit back a growl as Rachel sent a lustful looks towards Dimitri.
"Like I would want to fuck a walking STD. Sorry, sweetheart, but you're not my type." Dimitri scoffed.
Rachel glared at him, "Excuse me? And what is your type exactly? Last time I checked, your mate left you for someone better."
It had all happened too fast, Rosalie had no time to stop him. In the blink of an eye Dimitri had Rachel pinned against a tree, his hand wrapped tightly around her throat. The she-wolf struggled to breathe, clawing at his hand. Her eyes were wide with fear and her skin gained a blue tint to it.
"Alpha Black stop!" Rosalie yelled, running over.
She went to pull him away when he turned and growled at her. She clamped her mouth shut and took a step back. His eyes were black and filled with rage as he faced Rachel again.
"I think the world would benefit without you." He stated lowly as he tightened his grip on her.
Rachel gave Rosalie a pleading look, the tears now rolling down her cheeks. Rosalie's heart was hammering against her chest as she grabbed Dimitri's arm. He growled loudly and spun around, dropping Rachel in the process. Rosalie immediately let go and stepped away from him. He growled and stalked towards her, the anger still shining in his eyes.
She swallowed, she couldn't look weak in front of her pack.
"Alpha Black, clam down." She said calmly.
He bared his canines, "You don't order me around, pup." He barked.
She glared at him, "Dimitri, what would your daughters think if they saw you right now?"
"They're used to it. They've seen me put pack members in their rightful place, darling." He growled.
He pinned her against the house and grabbed her by the throat. He was about to say something when he was yanked off.
"What the hell has gotten into you?" Someone roared.
Rosalie fell against someone as she coughed. She looked up to see Xander giving her a sad look. She then looked over to see Xavier pinning a raging Dimitri down. Her eyes widened as he attempted to hurt Xavier, his own brother.
This was the Alpha Black everyone feared.
Rosalie was rushed inside before Xander ran over to help Xavier. She tried running back out, but someone grabbed her. She spun around to see Cyrus giving her a warning look.
"Don't. He'll calm down in a few minutes, then you can go to him." He explained, sitting her down on the stairs.
He took a seat beside her as she ran her hand through her hair. "That's why everyone fears him, he loses control."
"All alphas do sometimes." Cyrus said. "Your father did, I did, my father did, and so on."
"But why?"
"Rachel mentioned his mate." Cyrus stated as if it were obvious.
"So, he still loves her, doesn't he?" She asked, looking at him.
He shook his head, "No. I've seen how he looks at you, he's falling for you. He hates Christine. At an alpha meeting not too long ago another alpha had said something about her cheating on him. He attacked the alpha and did the same thing that he had just done. He's reminded of the pain when someone says something about it. No one wants that type of pain."
Rosalie sighed, "He went after me, Cyrus. How am I supposed to trust him after this? I say one wrong thing and I'll be lying on my death bed."
"Rose, don't think like that. You know he would never purposefully hurt you."
"He just did! My throat still hurts from it and I'm pretty sure it's bruised! Isn't it?"
At the look on his face she nodded, "See? Anything could happen. Love can't stop everything."
He sighed, "Don't leave him."
"Why?"
"He was already rejected once, if he's rejected twice...either he will lash out on everyone or...himself." Cyrus whispered.
She stared at him for a few seconds before releasing a breath. "Even if I wanted to, I can't. I could never do that to him."
Silence fell over them for a while until she looked back at him. Her eyes shined with guilt. She saw the sorrow on his face as he stared at the ground.
"I didn't want to leave you, you know? It just hurt so damn much that I....I couldn't handle it." She murmured.
He looked at her with a sad smile, "It's my fault. I am truly sorry for that, I never wanted to hurt you."
"I know." She smiled.
Cyrus sighed, "Don't leave him."
With that, he kissed her on he forehead and walked away. She frowned at his retreating form.
"I won't." She whispered.
Dimitri struggled against his brothers, but as the hour passed by he grew tired. He stopped fighting and relaxed, his anger slowly disappearing.
"You okay now?" Xavier questioned.
Dimitri didn't say anything, he only nodded. As his brothers let him go he slowly sat up.
"She's afraid of me now." He stated.
Xander swallowed, "No, just...shocked."
"Don't lie to me. I almost...I could have killed her." His voice cracked as he thought of what he could have done. "Make sure she stays away from me."
"What? Why?" Xavier asked.
He looked down, "So I don't hurt her."
Rosalie quietly sat in the car as the rest of the pack got into separate SUVs. She snapped her head up when the driver's door swung open, revealing a tired looking Dimitri. She felt little fear as she noticed the stunned and frightened look in his eyes. She opened her mouth to say something when his eyes turned cold and he slammed the door shut. She blinked, surprised and confused at what had just happened. Seconds later the driver door was opened again, but this time Xavier hopped in.
She groaned, "Oh goddess, not you."
He smirked, "Good evening Rosie."
"Avie."
"Stop calling me that." He whined.
She raised an eyebrow, "Stop calling me Rosie then."
"No."
"Then, I'll continue to call you Avie." She smirked. "It's a cute name for a girl."
He scowled at her before starting the car and waiting for Dimitri to tell him when. When he got the signal they drove out of the driveway, the rest of the SUVs following closely. Rosalie sighed as she leaned her head against the window.
"Why is Dimitri ignoring me?" She asked, facing Xavier.
He sighed, "He needs to sort himself out. Just give him some space, he'll eventually come around."
She frowned at him, she was tempted to argue, but knew he was tired. So, she went back to staring out the window until she fell asleep.
Dimitri stared out the window as Xander drove, his thoughts consumed by Rosalie. He wanted to be with her, but after almost hurting her today, he knew he couldn't. He ran his hand through his hair, frustration bubbled within him. He hated himself, he hated every little thing about him. He hated how he couldn't control his anger whenever someone brought up Christine, but he was afraid. He was afraid of that pain returning and showing everyone that the strong Alpha Black is actually the vulnerable and heartbroken Dimitri Black.
"You should at least explain this whole situation to her." Cyrus sounded from the back seat.
Dimitri frowned and looked at him, "What?"
"You're only hurting her even more by ignoring her. She's going to think she did something wrong. Learn from my mistake." He replied.
Dimitri nodded and faced the window again. He hated to admit it, but Cyrus had a point. Cyrus didn't explain his issue to Rosalie and now they're broken up. The thought of losing her forever has his heart aching and his wolf whimpering.
When they reached a rest stop he climbed out of the car and walked over to Rosalie. She stood up right as he gently grabbed her arm. She spun around, eyes wide with surprise.
"I need to talk to you." He stated.
She frowned at him, "Okay."
She closed her door and followed him to a secluded area. Dimitri let go of her wrist and sighed, opening his mouth to speak.
"What did I do wrong?" She asked before he could utter a single word.
He blinked, guilt swallowed him as he saw the pained look in her eyes. He sighed and gently stroked her cheek, "Nothing."
She furrowed her eyebrows, "Then why are you avoiding me? I don't have the plague or anything."
"I'm not...avoiding you. I'm ignoring you, well was."
"You ran away from me whenever I tried getting close. What's going on?" She questioned further.
He gulped, "I...I need you to stay away from me."
Her eyes widened, she clenched her jaw at his words. She looked down and nodded, fighting off the tears.
"I see." She whispered.
"Rosalie, it's-
She held up her hand, silencing him. "It's okay, Dimitri. I'm used to this feeling."
He rolled his eyes as she went to walk away, he quickly grabbed her and pulled her against him.
"It's not what you think." He grumbled, resting his chin on her head. "I don't want to hurt you, that's why."
She slightly pulled away, "You're not going to hurt me."
"I did today." He stated, looking at her.
She sighed, "That you did....you just need to learn to relax. Whenever someone mentions her you can't just attack them. And if I or your brothers tell you to stop or calm down, then do it. Fight the rage and pain, we're with you every step of the way."
He stared at her with awe before smiling. "I'm sorry...that I hurt you."
She smiled softly and kissed him on the cheek. "It's alright, but if you lose your mind like that again I'll rip your balls off." She whispered in his ear.
He laughed, shaking his head, "You are something else, Rosalie."
"I'm just unique." She grinned.
"Exactly my type." He flirted before dragging her back towards the cars.
